Now he's out again.

From Geoff Ketchum's Twitter:

A source close to the situation believes steps have been taken to make announcement by end of the weekend, but not today.

So, he's being "reassigned" according to Orangebloods. The "traditional media" can't get any confirmation, so they're not really running with the story yet.

It will help some, but UT fans need to realize that it wasn't just the O that stunk it up this year. Muschamp's defense couldn't stop anyone.

It's funny too b/c UT had Chizik & he & Muschamp have seemingly swapped projected futures over the course of 1 year.

Sounds like Mack is still fighting for his boy and hasn't yet been convinced to give him the axe. If he's still assisting with the offense in any capacity , you can bet he's still gonna be influencing it.

Muschamp's D was not as good, but a lot of that had to do with the offense. Muschamp's D is designed to be run with lighter faster players who wear out if they have to play on the field too long. How many Texas games were close at the half? I am not going to do it, but if someone were to look at the Texas D, I bet they gave up the most points in the second half after they have given their all in the first half just to keep the game close because the offense could barely get 3 consecutive first downs.

That was not the case at all, at least in the few games that i peaked in on. They gave up either the same amount of pts. in each half, or more pts in the 1st half of games that they lost. It didn't seem to matter, they just weren't very good.

Furthermore, what you're talking about happens to every defense if they're on the field too long.

You can't expect a defense to be a top tier unit when your offense can't sustain a drive and keep the defense on the field. The offense constantly has put them in bad field position all year as well. The offense has screwed this team more than anything.

This is like 8 years to late. It's a shame that Mack Brown had to be forced to do this. Mack was forced to fire GD many years ago and he threatened to leave the University so UT kept him and then VY came and saved both of their jobs. At least GD is finally gone. His scheme has been a joke for years and it's been mind blowing to see him get the salary that he's been paid all of these years. Not one team in the country will want to hire him either and that says more than anything about him as an offensive coach. He'll have literally no market for him at all.

I don't understand one thing: why the heck does Mack Brown support Greg Davis so much? Shouldn't a coach of his caliber know better?

Mack has always had more loyalty to GD than he has in his commitment towards winning. The athletic department at Texas tried to force Mack to fire GD many years ago right before VY arrived and Mack refused and even said that he'd leave before he would fire GD, so UT backed off unfortunately and Mack stayed. VY came in and saved both of their jobs, because even Mack was pretty much on the hot seat at that point after the Simms/Applewhite debacle where he screwed the team out of a NC against Colorado if you remember. VY got there and turned everything around.

Mack and GD are best friends. They were in each other's weddings and everything. They are practically inseparable and the only reason why GD has even been employed in college football is because of Mack. There is no other schools out there acquiring for GD's services.

I watched every game this year. At least as much of them I could before the nausea set in.

The defense was exhausted all season from being on the field for 56 minutes a game.

There's been one common suck factor for the Longhorns every year Vince Young or Colt McCoy wasn't on the roster. And it wasn't the defense.

Davis needs to be "reassigned" to Assistant Athletic Director. That way he is out of the football cross hair. Then when Mack is done, Mack can slide into Athletic Director and the BFFs can be reunited!
