Chances vs Eagles?

Hate to say it, but I don't see how we can win this game unless we score more than 35 points.

We played better D vs Tenn, but that was against a rookie 6th round pick starting on the road.

Now we have to travel on a short week and take on one of the most potent offenses in the league.

Not saying there isn't a chance, but it's going to be really really tough with our D and their O.

Thoughts?

As down as I've been on the team I can't help my fandom from coming out. I really don't think we have a chance in this game, but I will be rooting for the team.

If we can get a win there, game on.

I know we struggle with scrambling qbs and our secondary has been atrocious but for some reason I just see us pulling this one out,I think last week(though it was a rookie qb) was what this secondary needed,it showed them we can stop a NFL offense haha but seriously I think we have a shot in this one, kubes always gets his guys ready the last 5 to save his job another year.

This ain't the same 'ol Vick. If we don't get a pass rush on him, he'll
complete his throws. If we lose outside contain, he'll be 20 yards
upfield before you can blink. The Texans must play sound in the
secondary AND provide an adequate pass rush.

Therefore....

Any given Thursday?

The fan in me says that anything can happen. If the Texans play sound defense and don't shoot themselves in the foot, try to mimic what Chicago did last weekend by cutting off Vick's lanes. Dude's arm has been tight this season, but I'd rather make him stay in the pocket with the potential for a pick. Make Cushing spy on him the whole game, too. And if our offense can score early and work out some long drives, keeping Vick off the field, while consistently putting points on the board, a win is possible.

However, the football analysis pragmatic side of me says Iggles by 17. The Texans have a history of letting their guards down after games like the Titans, and I'm just not convinced that Gary the Head Coach can inspire them to play at the level that will be required to beat a team of Philly's caliber right now.

Hate to say it, but what he did to Washington a few weeks back still gives me nightmares. I know the Redskins defense is bad, but alot of what he did in that game was more Vick than it was "bad redskins defense".

If Vick is on and our defense is on, we'll still lose.

If Vick is on and our defense comes out stinking up the place, it's going to be a blowout.

This is going to have to be a game where our offense shows up and plays 4 quarters.

You mean do something they haven't done all season?

I know this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game about to be played, but I was just kinda surprised when I found it....A Houston pro football team has NEVER beaten the Philadelphia Eagles. Houston Oilers were 0-6, Texans 0-2.

Good time to break that little streak.

I would treat this game similar to how we did in week 1 vs the Colts and what we should have done vs the Colts on MNF...run the ball and keep the opposing offense off the field.

watch alot of tape of the bears!!!! i was at the bears game this weekend and they did a nice job containing vick!!!

I don't think there'd be anything wrong with losing this game as the Eagles are the best team in the NFC and it's on the road. If Kubiak wants his job next year, pulling a miracle out of his ass in this one could help that cause. I actually wouldn't cringe if the Chronicle and HT.com called it the "best win in franchise history" because it would be pretty impressive.

I was going to bring this up, but you already did.

We might not have ever beat the Eagles, but we have beat Vick while he played in Atlanta.

I'm haven't really thought about this game too much. It just seems strange being only three days after their last.

I think we will either, get our asses handed to us, or play a close game and lose late.......again. There is however a slight glimmer of hope that we might actually win this damn thing. :texflag:

Desean Jackson terrifies me this week.

I'm giving us a punchers chance, our O has to be on fire though. If Foster has a big day we'll be in the game.

This ^^^^!! The running game needs to be workin'!!! Oh, and the defense will need to get off the field a couple/few times - and I don't mean after an Eagles TD!

There would be nothing wrong with losing this game in the moral sense,
but the Texans have eliminated their margin-for-error with a 4-game
losing streak. They must win out. Lose this game, and it's back to
playing out the string for the 5th consecutive season.

I'm one of the more optimistic Texans fan you'll meet. Despite that, this is one of the few games I have ever thought we have NO chance of winning. We just really matchup poorly against this team.

The ONLY way I see us getting a W is if Foster is unstoppable and we control the clock well... AND we have the last possession in the game.

On defense, I expect a lot of zone coverage and trying to take away the big play. I say give up all the 5-10 yard underneath plays all they want. Let them get into the red zone and hopefully we can hold them to just a field goal. I don't think Cushing as a spy on Vick will work. Vick is much too fast. I'd rather see us go a lot of nickel packages and see pollard stay in the box as a spy.

I don't think the Texans have a chance in hell of winning this or the one against Baltimore. But like the dutiful fan I am, I'll be watching and cheering them on anyways. Maybe I'll get a nice suprise Thursday.

I feel the same as you.

Any team can beat any other. Miracles do happen.

I just have to find a place to watch. Out in the middle of nowhere this week and the hotel does not have NFL network.

Co-sign. There is no more room for d-----g around. We have to win. Period.

Who'd have thought at 5-6, with some of the stinkers we've had; we still have a shot at the division? We have to dig ourselves out of this hole to do it, may as well start now. I'm hoping the fire Andre lit spreads to the entire team.

We lost games we should have won--touchdowns being taken away from Foster, intentional grounding calls when we had TE on X'ing route, Quin not intercepting--rather batting down the ball, defense not holding their end of the deal for 3 seconds, then 49 seconds.

SO, we can win games that we're not "supposed" to win by making a few extra plays including playing D like this past Sunday.

I believe!!!

We're backed into a corner we shouldn't be in.

I hate it for Kubiak, but this is the bed he's made. He was the one talking about "it's time someone else won the AFC South"

He made decisions that made it more difficult for us to win games.

He is the offensive Guru who can't get his offense to deliver for 60 minutes.

If we're to get to the play-offs, we need this game, can't afford to lose any more.

You know I'm a Kubiak supporter, a sunshiner, a koolaide kid.

But it is what it is......

I just watched the Bears/Eagles game.

I read another post, where someone said the Bears showed us the blue-print, force Vick to his right...

But there is more to it. The big thing was pass coverage. Brian Urlacher, I still believe, is the best MLB in the league, bar none. His ability to play on the line, rushing the QB, stopping the run is right up there with the best in the league. But his ability to drop back into coverage is what sets him apart.

All of the bears LBs are excellent in pass D.

Our LBs suck, which is why rookie QBs can look like Hall of Famers against us. With no LBs in coverage, QBs can put the ball on a rope & throw strike after strike. Find an open throwing lane & zip it in there.

I still don't think Vick is all that, throwing the ball. But if our LBs don't make him wait for a route to open, or think twice about making a throw, or trying to drop a ball in a perfect spot....... we don't stand a chance.

If we can run the ball there might be a glimmer of a chance. If not, pffft, I'll finally get to wash my truck before the next game starts. She's filthy

Vick will be at home ready to go against our 28th ranked defense. I cant imagine a scenario where the Texans dont lose by 7+.

Their WR's should have great games. They have a RB that can run and catch the ball. A big offensive line. Good coaches.

Their defense is poor. So maybe they can keep Vick on the bench for awhile. That is our only hope.

Well, I hope... but my reality gene says our chances are slim and none. But on any given Sunday (Thursday) they say, so here is to our Texans... JUST WIN BABY!

Its the NFL nothing is impossible, but short week games always favor the home team. It will be an upset if the Texans somehow pull this off.

Our best chance in this game is simple. If we start getting torched by vick and its obvious we not going to be able to stop him... Were gonna have to score points.

Its a must to take advantage of the few 3 and outs we DO get. If we can get a lead, I would simply eat up the clock. Its not just about eatting up the clock, but TRYING do score while you do it. Keep the ball out of their offenses hands.

I think if the Texans can keep the ball moving (i.e. Schaub, Foster, Johnson, Ward) and contain Vick, we'll be alright. Defense is going to have to step it up for sure. I'm going to be optimistic...come on Texans FTW!!!!! :fans:

Win <0. Miss the plane. At least they won't get embarrassed on national tv. This game smells like a beat down. I mean an ugly one. If the Texans were to somehow keep it close I would take that as a really good effort against a much better team coaching wise and player wise.

isnt Philly 3-0 in the AFCS this year

we gots to stop teh sweep

Vick is 2-0 against AFCS, Philly is 2-1 however. They lost to Tennessee in Kolb's last start, mainly because Kenny Britt took over the game plus a costly fumble or two by Kolb/McCoy.
