No Love for Quin?

3 Interceptions?

Did I miss the party?

As far as I can remember back (which I'll admit, I wasn't always a huge fan) this is the first hat trick by a Texans defender. Aaaaaaaaand there isn't even a thread about anything other than Innegin. Not even an "OH SNAP we play the Eagles in 2 days. **** YOU QUIN we ain't got time to celebrate!!!" thread.

Well....here's to you GQ. Got Peyton picked and a receiver played DB better than Brice McCain, dropped that first one. Got annihilationalized in Jacksonville when the INT was ripe for the picking. Been so close.

And then how down you must've felt after that....when the game fell in the last seconds over your head in New York....

SO F'ING WHAT IF IT WAS RUSTY SMITH?!?!?! IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT THE TACKS SCREWED THEIR OWN SITUATION UP!!!!

3 INTERCEPTIONS!!!

WITH A BROKEN HAND!!!

Yeah, rep to Quin. Probably wasn't a big deal because of the QB. However, if not for Quin the game isn't a shut out any longer.

I'm happy for Quin. I think he got to reset to 0 and go from here now.

He was -3 or so in Karma, luck, whatever you want to call it...got 3 pics so went up +3 to set it to 0. So let's go from there.

The fight just enveloped everything. But love for GQ for sure.

I wish KJ could have got some pics and love too.

Props to Quin, but where was he when the season was still within reach?

Sorry to sound Debbie downer-ish, but I'm frustrated. It's like groundhog day. I'm frustrated with the Texans the same time of year every year.

Quin had a fantastic day. A fantastic day against a very poor QB. Let's see what happens against Vick now. If he can have another great day against a really good QB then we'll all sing his praises.

Hey Debbie, we are 1 game back, Bill hasn't sung yet.

He's been singing to me for the past couple weeks. Dude won't get out of my head. Especially looking at the division's remaining schedule. Ours is the toughest by far.

No doubt about that, and who do you think Vick is going to pick on this Thursday?

You are correct but here is why and I speak only for me and probably my mock draft partners with whom I've exchanged pm's recently;

1. 3rd string QB or not it was a hat trick and he was in range of another not too long before. Even better for me is Quin was in proper position for most of game. Why did he fall apart this season after having a decent rookie season? Was it coaching? Was it because KJ was drafted? I tend to think Quin has the skills to be a decent #2 Corner and that frustrates me if he did indeed slack off prior to this game regardless of the reason.

2. Broken hand ..oohhh that reminded me of a free safety that went to pro bowl as an alternate with his hand in a cast and then was released next season.

3. AJ fight. Yeah it was encouraging to see AJ defending himself and the fans defending AJ. But all the little comments by some posters of how they would beat Finnegan up, etc seemed a bit childish or like the rubber neckers one sees ogling bodies on the ground and munching popcorn as they drive slowly past. Call the dude a punk or whatever and then move on for pity sake.

TimeKiller, this team has me really losing interest in their play. Quin prior to Titan's game is one reason why. I think I personally needed a shut out this game as much as the players did. Nothing has changed my sliding opinion of the coaches. I hope we see a very strong game from Texans against Eagles.

I truly wanted his and Dile's autographs a few weeks ago.

He made a bad play, big deal. Our franchise has had plenty of bad plays.

It's really hard to judge our secondary because of the defensive unit as a whole and coaching.

It scares me a lot of young CB's have 1 or 2 good years then STINK.

As long as he's a starter on our team, he's a starter on our team.

I'm still not over our last two losses. He had a good game, maybe he can string together 5 more.

Hey, if you still need an oxygen tank, that's up to you. But....good games gotta start somewhere right? Unless the opposing QB is a ball machine you can be excited for a young player having a career (so far, hopefully) day. Hell, maybe having a chance to figure what to do/what it feels like to make a play sets him off against uh..."real" competition.

This thread should contain nothing about how much they've sucked, how much they might suck, suck, supersuck or megasuck.

Just give the guy some props. YOU ALL gave him hell when he deserved that. So did I. He deserved it. Guess what he deserves now? At least a compliment (and not a backhanded compliment).

Hey, GQ, nice 3 INT game. Can't believe NOBODY mentioned it.

Look how many views this thread has with a pitiful number of replies and even less respect for GQ's game.

You know what I'm losing faith in?

The ability for any of you to be happy about something. 3 ****ing interceptions in one game gets less run than 3 fists to a punk's head. 3 INT's and you garner about 1.7 compliments. We're all happy to see Innegin get what he had coming but really....to the point that NOBODY can say "attaboy"?

Shameful.

Attaboy.

Hopefully he doesn't start next year because they address the awful secondary in the offseason.

IMO your tone is not in line with the rest of the community, and is a reason why folks are not jumping in.

I have been a Quin supporter for some time, but am waiting for two consecutive weeks of goodness before I start trumpeting his exploits in light of past performance this year.

I was super impressed by Quin's play, especially after I figured out he did it WITH ONE FRIGGIN HAND.

Bravo Quin, bravo.

My tone is definitely not "in line with the community" because I can deal out the praise when it's necessary whereas most of ya'll can't. Everyone bitches and complains about every little detail and when they're out of details they just start making **** up to complain about. How many 3 INT games have there even been this year? This decade?

Oh that's right, we've all been too busy lavishing our praise on AJ for a fairly negative sequence of events. I've barely even seen a good word about his 60/8 year achievement. Ya'll want to watch a fight so damn bad go watch UFC, this is still a football forum right?

All I was looking for. Bravo to you good sir.

It is a short decade to date, but the last 3 INT performance I recollect was Hall from the equally awful Redskins defense this year.

I think most would agree that they would rather have consistency than statistical anomalies.

I think it's sorta like an abusive spouse. If you are getting your ass beat everyday, you're not going to lavish praise if one day that person brings you flowers and candy that they got on sale at Walgreen.

Not sure why you are protesting so much because folks aren't lavishing praise. I think most would just like to see more before we believe that the spouse is truly a changed person.

is it just me or does anyone else think this wouldn't have happened without the fiasco in Jascksonville? everyone said he did excatly what the coaches taught him to do in that situation. I think it was the coaches who re-evalued their approach to secondary personel & gave them the green light to attack the ball & wrap it up instead of knock it down. just a thought

I'm not making myself clear I guess...

NOTHING had been said about it. That's not just "not lavishing praise"....that's ignoring and that's what I have a problem with. It would be like Joel Dreesen going off for 300 yards receiving and nobody giving a crap because he had a big fumble a few weeks ago.

Yes, of course we would all like to see the consistency. That's no excuse for giving ZERO props. And since we don't see (positive, anyway) consistency, I'll take a statistical anomaly.

3 int = get some praise anyway you wanna slice it

I don't understand why you are so upset people aren't gushing over the guy. He got plenty of props in the game day thread. He got named AFC defensive player of the week.

Nobody is gushing over Okoye either, and he had a terrific game. So did Jackson. Quinn had 1 great game. It's over now, and you should get over it also.

Holy hell. You guys can't be happy for him AND you can't read.

My problem is not the lack of gushing...

My problem is the giant completely ignore button you have all hit.

Gameday thread = for gameday.

Okoye didn't have 3 sacks. If he did I'm pretty sure we'd all drop a doog in our pantaloons. Jackson didn't have 3 picks. If he did I'm pretty sure HE would be the one wearing brown shorts.

So this is my official over it post. Sorry I wasn't over it as soon as it happened.

I will give massive love to Quin if he can keep Jackson in check.

Apparently Jackson is distracted by contract issues, so hopefully that might help our secondary out.

3 Interceptions does not erase the 2 weeks prior to the Titans game. Glover Quin, props to you for your hat trick, but you need to not give away games in the last 30 seconds and we'll be cool.

He's a horrible CB.

He got lucky against an inexperienced QB.

I don't want him starting on my team.

Quin played extremely well in this game.
Except for a minor flaw, he was in good position all game long.
Good techniques.
Even without the Ints, it was already a good game for him.

For example, the Texans first sack of the game by Mario (our first defensive play) was a coverage sack. It was due to Quin's quick react-back (in the shuffle) to the receiver on the side line.
It forced the QB to pull the ball back to look elsewhere, giving Cody time to push the pocket and for Mario to get to the QB.

It was a very good game for our CBs (Quin, KJ, and Allen).

Also, Sharpton (who got more snaps than Diles) played another good game (3 in a row now.)
If he continues with his plays, the coaches will have a difficult choice to make between him and Diles.
I would go with Sharpton, but obviously, I can't speak for Bush or Kubiak.

I don't see any reason to try to convert Pollard to WILL, to be honest.

you think for ONE minute that he didn't do what he's been COACHED to do? I was pissed as hell too after that game but he was just doing what most any other db woulda done. maybe coaches will look at that play and realize their coaching is suspect.

Quin had a phenomenal game. There is no doubt about it. He needs to play with more consistency and I think we'll start seeing more picks from him. He has the eye to make the right reads and jump on the ball, I think he finally had the opportunity to make the picks.

So....one game later. I think he had a decent game, a few deflections and REALLY jumped a route that would've been at least a pick...the 6 idk but Vick definitely got lucky that he threw that ball so wide not even a guy jumping the route could get more than a fingernail on it.

I really, really, truly believe he would be a great FS. I think he is willing to get dirty on tackling, I think his speed (which is his greatest downfall as a CB) would be a plus and a definite upgrade over Wilson. I think he is showing the ability to step in front of throws, make picks/plays on the ball. I just think as long as he's a CB, he's going to get beaten a fair amount of the time.
