Suspension idea/ question

Could the NFL suspend both Dre and Finnetrick for the next time we play each other instead of this week? I know I am dreaming but I think it would be fair to both teams at that time.

My opinion is the NFL will do everything they can to make sure these two are on the field next time. The NFL makes it clear they don't want this in their game but aren't blind to the appeal.

As far as suspensions go I'm worried more about Pollard getting one for doing nothing wrong.

I hope its one game, and I'm glad it will be Thursday. We don't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning up there.

Just get it over with, quickly!

No, it won't work like that. Im hoping that there will be a fine for Andre no suspension, and a suspension for finn, even though that probably won't happen.
I blame the league and the titans for letting it go on for so long.
Even right now the talk right before the Colts game, they were talking about how dirty the Titans are, and that they are coached that way.
Goddell has to be aware of the rep, and the perception of the titans, and I hope he takes into consideration what kind of person Andre is. I think that will make a difference.

The refs should have gotten a handle on the hands to the face much earlier in the game. Hell, the PREVIOUS PLAY they were scuffling, which should have drawn attention to the refs for the next play, where Finnethug went straight to AJ's face AGAIN. And yet, no flag for it. Ridiculous. For this alone, AJ doesn't deserve a suspension. A player goes to your face that many time, and someone's going to snap. The refs should've been throwing flags on Finnethug all day.

An article worth reading (in its entirety) after the October Titans/Denver game. Funny, Fisher used the Texans as substantiating that his team is not "dirty." That's gonna work from here on out, huh?

Tennessee sacked Kyle Orton (FSY) six times, and the Denver quarterback called them "cheap" after a 26-20 win by the Broncos. He singled out Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan (FSY). Broncos coach Josh McDaniels agreed after watching the film, saying there's a way to play tough and physical without being excessive and "playing dirty after the snap."

"I think there's a lot of teams in this league that play like that, that are tough and physical but also within the rules. ... You could put any tape on that you want to of Tennessee, and there's going to be 10 penalties. You either coach it or allow it to happen," McDaniels said.

Fisher has been defending his Titans the past few days. He called the accusations that his Titans play dirty "incorrect" Wednesday.

"You don't hear comments out of teams that are familiar with us along those lines ... from the Texans or anybody else in the division," Fisher said. "It's just kind of one of those things that happened and we're done with it. We're going to play hard and if someone doesn't like the way we play, then so be it."
The Titans' nine personal fouls are three more than the closest team, St. Louis (6), according to STATS LLC. Tennessee also is tied for the league-lead with 37 penalties and alone atop the NFL with 344 yards in penalties.

Jeff Fisher: Titans aren't a dirty team, they're aggressive

Reports are that the NFL is going to review everything tomorrow and make a decision tomorrow. I am hoping that AJ gets a fine and Finnegan gets a suspension because of his reputation. I'm afraid it'll be worse for both players and they will have equal suspensions even though AJ has no prior history of being a dirty player.

Goodell has also been on his high horse all season, so I imagine this suspension will be more excessive than suspensions for prior fights. :foottap:

I'm sure Dre will get screwed, but it seems like they should review the entire game to get the entire context of Andre's frustration. If a guy is in someones grill all day and it doesn't get called it seems like they would understand when a model player goes off.

Although I won't be suprised I will be pissed if he gets suspended.

Hold on now, can't Dre appeal the suspension, which takes I think 2 weeks to process, which would be the Eagles and Ravens games, then sits the Titans game, which the Texans just ran all over with Foster today.

If that be the case, then AJ sits the Tennessee game and is available for the Eagle and Ravens...

just a thought...

Actually, I don't think Foster necessarily "ran all over" them today. I thought the Titans did a fair job of keeping him in check before he busted that big run in the 4th.

The defense was on the field 20 minutes in the first half, that also helps

After listening to some things "experts" have said, it seems Goodell may just fine AJ and suspend Finnegan because of his history. Regardless of my allegiance, I do have a problem with taking swings at a helmet-less player.

I do too... unless it's Finnegan in which case I think AJ should get to carry a lead sap and Finnegan should be forced to play without a helmet or with one made of Styrofoam.

What's fun about this is Finnegan will continue to run his mouth, this won't stop anything. I hope AJ does it again, it will at least make the next blowout as interesting as this one.

I'd say it's guaranteed that Finnegan will continue playing football in the same manner whenever he gets to play football next.

Also, AJ didn't start really swinging until his helmet came off. He pretty much held Fin by his shoulder pads while the facemask was grabbed and then the helmet was gone. As soon as the helmet was off though that's when it got real.

I wonder if Goodell will only fine AJ and not suspend him because they are playing a nationally televised game on his own TV network. I wonder if that has anything to do with his thought process.

I would love to see a slap on the wrist fine for Andre and a 2 game suspension for Finnegan.

To me, that would send the correct message out to the league and the players.

Sadly, this isn't what will happen. I think the league needs to look at what led up to Andre blowing up. Countless penalties by a dirty player that the refs ignore - if the refs did their job, Andre wouldn't have to to it for them.

I understand you here and while I wouldn't condone a situation where an unsuspecting player was hit with his helmet off...I don't think any argument can be made that Finnegan was unsuspecting. Not only did he start it, he swung first (albeit he apparently isn't smart enough to realize that punching AJ's facemask doesn't hurt him), and aided in escalating the fight.

On top of all that he didn't even act surprised or upset after AJ wailed on him. I've seen his reaction before and it is that of a man who is trying to save face after getting his butt whooped.

Yeah, well I've got a problem with a POS scumbag douche CB jamming somebody right in his face too.

Was AJ wrong for what he did? Yeah he was, and he even said so himself. But that POS thug CB deserved everything AJ dished out on his sorry ass. Football and NON-football. Made him look like the fool he is and I'd bet there's a whole lot of WR's around the league that's gone up against that maggot have their checks in the mail to help with AJ's fine.
