So.... when the Titans beat us Sunday, what?

Hervoyel

BUENO!
Ok, it's not a forgone conclusion. In fact it seems more than likely that the Texans can win this game.... and that's exactly what makes me nervous about it. The Titans are seemingly in disarray. Their starting QB is hurt and crazy, their dependable backup is hurt. Their offensive coordinator just revealed that he's got cancer and is about to start treatment for it. They got a few injuries and they got a few distractions.

That means nothing.

I'm seeing posts here and there that seem to take a Texans win to be nearly a given. I admire those posters optimism.

We've been mauled this season by teams we were supposedly hitting at just the right time. Cowboys were a mess when they got here, Indianapolis was starting the water boy and some guys who were selling popcorn when we got beat there.

Things like what you see happening in Tennessee right now make our team fall apart. They make teams like the Titans pull together and play harder. Those guys are circling the wagons right this minute and planning on going on a run to win one for "The Dinger". We'd use the distraction and our feelings as an excuse for why we didn't perform. They'll use it as reason to make some guy named Rusty Smith the FedEx Air Player of the Week while Chris Johnson gets nominated for Ground Player of the Week at the same time.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope we've got at least some dignity left and can keep a 3rd string rookie QB on a team that should be in the process of imploding from coming into Reliant and making us look like Gary's collection of Man-ginas that we've been for most of this season. History between the Texans and the Titans doesn't entirely count against us. We swept them during a year of turmoil they had back in 2004 during our best Dom Capers led season. Since then we've only beaten them when "Radio" wasn't playing and this week he'll be nowhere in sight. We should win this.

I'm just worried we won't.

Just a thought...............a scarey thought. If the Cowboys win today and the Texans lose, our records will match.........with the Cowboys outlook trending upward and the Texans trending into a bottomless pit.

I'm gonna pretend I didn't see this post....ok.....move on now, nothing to see here.

Good point. I think the Saints will win today though.

what this shows me is how intelligent, fearless men can meltdown under the pressure of NFL season. both fans, players, coaches alike, human nature I guess  but I'm having none of that Texans digest Titans to the tune of 35-17 :koolaid:

If that happens we just need to swallow our pride, and view it as the path to a higher draft pick to help add talent back to our team. A top 5 pick (LOL it might happen) every round, getting Barwin, Tate, and Ryans back, ontop of the new coach (praying there is one) wanting to bring in free agents to fit their system...we could see a serious boost in talent next year from what we are seeing now

Then what? I'll tell ya what... we start preparing for Philadelphia on Thursday. And when we lose that one... it's onward to Tennessee once again. Or was it Baltimore? Whatever. I've learned that being a football fan has to happen within oneself. Hoping Kubiak does this or Smih signs whoever or McNair jobbing a random secretary all matters none. After hearing Bobby the other day... It is what it is so **** it. Most I can hope for is that we get the win. Life usually sucks if you're a football fan.

Pride and the Houston Texans are not synonymous.

Yeah, that's been in the back of my brain for awhile now.

But thanks for putting it in Internet ink so that I have to bring it to the forefront of my brain. Appreciate ya'....:(

You can relax.............Girls lost. At least for another week we can boast the best crumby record in Texas.:spin:

The Titans look like they're in disarray right now, but a good coach can rally the troops.

Both teams are fighting adversity. We'll just see which team responds to it.

It's scary when you put it that way.

Doom and despair and despair and doom! It's over I tell ya. And after we go 0-18 next year (after the new CBA) we'll get a new head coach, so things aren't looking to bad. :spin:

But seriously folks, yall know by now not to predict the Texans. They could win by 4 TDS this Sunday just as easily as they could lose by that much. Whatever they do though PLEASE don't let it be another loss in the last microsecond of the damn game again.

It's scary when you put it that way.

We're really going to see what the Titans are made of. If Vince Young had the locker room (and it sounds like he didn't,) then it'll show on Sunday.

It's gut check time for Fisher. If the players have his back, then they'll come out eatin' lightnin' and crappin' thunder.

It'll be interesting to see how our guys respond to the current state of adversity.

I'll be there on Sunday ready for a slobberknocker.

Win or lose... why am I more worried about our draft position and who we draft? Why am I worried next year, every year and not this year?

NO VY so hey we got this in da Bag and plus our annual 4 game losing streak is over

we can start winning now !!!!!!!!!!!!

Im alredy looking past this and getting rdy for TNF da big test IMO

We got two prime time games after this

Let me get this strait....we stumble on a team in dissaray and win, and suddenly our defense starts playing lights out, Kareem Jackson doesn't fall down anymore and our offense shows up on time to the stadium...
Sorry that is just way too much koolaide....not gonna happen. we may win this one..... but not the next two..

lmao.

Agree. Too many "what if's" involved.

Not to mention that Rusty Smith isn't going to hurt or help the Titans much on Sunday. He'll have a leash on while the offense will go through Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer.

If the secondary's gonna help, they better learn how to pick up the run.

I'll ***** and moan for a couple of days, then rally around 'the strong finish' and enjoy whatever good football I can get out of this team this year.

I know you're post wasn't meant in a positive tone, but I think it has a positive message. I wish more would follow your lead.

This is definitely the worst thing. I'll take anything except this...AGAIN!

The Texans are going to go on a five game winning streak. They will be in position to win the division on the last Sunday of the season vs. Jacksonville at home.

They will then deliver the knee to the groin / roundhouse to the head by losing that game after being up by 20 points with 2 minutes to go. Jacksonville touchdown, onside kick, touchdown, onside kick, touchdown. The final play will be a Hail Mary where Glover Quin will try to intercept the ball instead of knocking it down it and it will be stripped from him. Kareem Jackson will fall down.

.

They're going to get this thing fixed. I believe in Frank Bush. And the Easter Bunny.

and another thing. I don't need any soap because in my sunshine filled world, I just won't get dirty. I know that that's seems kinda weird because if you have rainbows, there has to be some rain, and that means mud, but anyways...

Sounds like how our team has carried on business as of late.

We don't need no stinkin' laws of physics in the Keep Kubiak Club!

I guess calling it the Keep Kubiak Klub would've been offensive? It sure as hell wouldn't be defensive!

Here is Hoping Rusty does not chanel air McNair or for the love of God Joe Montana. if that does not happen and can stop the run, north Korea goes for world peace, and Jesus returns, then we some how convince Jesus that we are his fATHERS TEAM, THEN WE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE.

After the win I will be dancing in the streets:specnatz:

I will LOL

Followed by the long walk out to the parking lot talking about how the Aggies have never won anything and that Kubes wont be changing that tradition.

I think we need to come to some consensus about the best way to lose.

Obviously some here would rather we lose at the last minute, others would wish we get our butts whupped thoroughly throughout the game.

Then there are those that would rather we never lose.

I think we need to make up our minds.

Agreed

I'm on the never bandwagon.

That's why this yrs annual 4 game losing streak seems to more than the previous yrs 4 game losing streaks.

this is the way I envisioned the season before any games were played in 2010.

Well not that GQ/interception thing. I never dreamed anything like that could happen.

In Tennessee they're saying the same thing.... except it goes something like this:

I just don't foresee us losing this game...at all.

If Collins (or even Young) were playing, I would call it 50/50; however, with this kid from FAU making his first start, I just don't see it happening. Load up the box and make him throw to win (yes, cue up the Garrad/Sanchez highlights).

That being said, we will have to immediately turn around and head to Philly for a very tough matchup - that is the game that really should worry us. That could be ugly...

I think the Philly game doesn't worry anyone because we've all pretty much concluded that they're going to tear us a new one. This game against the Titans has the look and feel of being the last truly winnable game on the schedule until we host Jacksonville in late season "garbage time".

Actually, now that I look over the last six games of the season I really only see two guaranteed ass beatings in there. Philly and Baltimore will crush us. All the remaining games are against teams that have just as many warts as we do. If the Titans implode then figure two wins (big "if"), Denver is screwed up so that's a possible win, and Jacksonville at our house might be a game they don't need and we can hang with them so maybe we win that. 4 more wins gets us to an exciting...... 8-8 finish and another year of Kubiak.

:kubepalm:

I went into the Jets game hoping we'd lose. I wanted Kubiak to be gone, but more than anything I wanted Bush and the rest of his defensive blunder heads chased out of town.

I don't like the Jets. Mainly because of how they whipped us last year on opening day and because everyone thinks Revis can shut down Andre.

That said, when we made the comeback I found myself rooting for my team again. I found myself cursing the jets....calling them b's and h's....

Then as we kicked that last field goal I remembered we were the Texans. So I proceeded to hold my breath for the last minute of the game. Much to my non-astonishment, the Jets drove the length of the field with no timeouts with everything completely stacked in our favor (well...everything except a talented secondary and skilled coaching).

This week, I will not let my guard down. I will not be fooled by this Texans team. I will not let my hatred for the Titans, and that weak ass Finnegan cloud my better judgment. I will not make the mistake of letting my emotions get in the way of a level head....Yes, I will be rooting for the Texans to lose. It is the only way that I think serious changes will be made, and it is the only way I see, for the franchise that I love so much, to progress.

Yes this is a tough road to travel. Much like watching your kid make mistakes and have the world hand them their head on a platter....But sometimes, it is the only way they can learn.

And I don't want to hear any BS about how I'm not a real fan...Please...Spare me.

Fans should not attack other fans for how they choose to handle the Texans consistent failings. It is a trying time to be a fan of this franchise, and really the only entity that should not be spared blame and angst is the Texans organization themselves. Hell, they can only blame themselves.

As for me..I will indulge in the things that matter...family, and having fun in this holiday season.

As for football...I'm just left wondering who will end up with the worst record...

The Texans? The Titans? or the Dallas Cowboys?

This is one race I'd actually like to win.

Come on, nobody really wants to see their team lose. Once the game begins, you'll have the same feelings as you had during the Jets game. That's just fan nature.

I will admit that at this point in a season, the wins become less sweet and the losses less bitter. You start taking a peek at your team's draft position (Texans currently sit at #12). And you search for rumors concerning potential changes (like Cowher to the Texans). Still, once the game starts, you get into it. I can't help that. Neither can you.

You know Lucky, you are probably right...

Well, it's not the only way. We can go 10-6, win the division, then win-out all the way through the Super Bowl. 10 straight, no big deal.

Tell me, what do you really think about this team? Do you think they flat out suck.... no "real" talent?

Or do you think they've got their heads up their butts, not playing/coaching as well as they could?

That Jets game is a perfect example. There were spots in there, that the defense owned. There were spots were the offense owned.

IMO, if they can get that light to kick on Sunday..... they can run the table.

Sure, you won't get rid of Kubiak, you won't get rid of Bush... but maybe they'll figure out attacking, making things happen is the way you win in this league. If they get that figured out, how bad can it be??

It would be almost like getting new coaches.

I agree with Rey. I hope we lose out. I think every game we lose from now until January will bring us CLOSER to a playoff trip and a superbowl. Every win prolongs the chance for mediocrity.

Of course, Lucky is always right. I want the Texans to lose, I think rationally speaking it would be better for us, but when game time comes I'll be rooting for them. It's impossible to sit there and hope our players suck it up.
