We were getting more pressure - why?

I was fast-forwarding through too much of the game to pay close attention as to why, but I did notice that our defense was getting a lot more pressure than in the past. Mario seemed to be doing pretty well, for instance. Besides having multiple sacks, we also had a lot of near-misses (including a couple where Sanchez broke free for a large gain), hit the RB in the backfield several times, etc.

So, for someone who paid more attention, what was the reason for this? Were we blitzing a lot more? Did that OL injury for the Jets make their line have serious problems? By any chance were our linemen just flat playing better?

We had some new personnel down there. Anderson was starting to really stand out, but we had some DT named Lewis who I had no idea was on the roster. I follow this team very closely, I read all the local press every day, and I've seen nothing about acquiring a lineman named Lewis. He made a play though.

Edit: Found the story here. Former St Louis 1st rounder. I saw him get more pressure than our other DT's.

It had alot to do with the Jets backup RT getting owned by Mario, Anderson, and Jamison. Anybody who lined up across from their backup RT was dominating him.

Thanks for the link. I was wondering who that was. I had never heard the name before the game.

Rep!

I think I heard one of the players in an interview say that Bush "let them go today". This is the problem with the way Bush and Kubiak think. Very controlled and safe until behind. Then try to be agressive, then when ahead go back and be controlled and safe. You don't see Colts, NE do this. They play all out. If you notice Texans never blow anyone out. That is Kubiak's plan, keep it close until the end. The only problem is it is a coin toss at end, some you win Redskins, KC and some you lose Jags, NY Jets. Agressive plays create turnovers on D and big plays on O. This is the way we should have been playing all year. We let the Dline go and it almost worked.

So even with good pressure the Texans secondary sucked. So there's goes the theory that it's mainly our D-Line providing no pressure is what is causing the D-line to suck.

lol yeah Dale? How bout your boy Mario?

What about him, he had two sacks, but also he had a lot of giving up on plays that he shouldn't have. Typical Mario, make a play take 3 off.. Make a play that helps but when we need him to make a play he's nowhere close..

Go Mario!

Yeah man, Mario Williams is the worst. Antonio is the best because. . . effort.

I thought about that a lot yesterday.

Our secondary is bereft of talent, poorly coached, or some combination thereof.

Sanchez did not have a clean pocket most of the day and he still torched our secondary....

bah - saying that still makes me want to puke.

I was glad to see it. However, when my issue with him is effort, it doesn't exactly make me warm and fuzzy to see him show up with big effort every fourth game. Last week he tried for about a quarter until giving up against Jordan "freakin" Black. So, I haven't exactly become a fan of his again, though he certainly played well yesterday.

Fools be playing for the JOB they got kids to feed

DOnt think at the end of the season coaches heads are the only thing that will roll if this continue to get like this players heads will roll 2 i hope
