Difference between Ryan and Kubiak...

mcnair2.jpg

Well now that we are out of contention now we can play with no pressure .........

we can play to lose or win LOL or a tie

He said on the press conference just now he told the guys good effort and we keep playing hard we will win...lmao he needs to walk in there and slap the **** outta Eugene Wilson and spit on Quin then walk out...that would be me...just sayin...

Ryan always plays to win...

Kubiak played not to loose and guess what happened...

HE LOST AGAIN!

No. The difference is Ryan doesn't put "buddies" around him. Kubiak is a good coach, but he refuses to put any good coaches around him that aren't in his "circle". He'll go down with his own ship.

The field goal was the right call to go up by 4. A TD and XP give you an 8 point lead and a much higher risk of losing the game with a FG if you don't score.

No, not the point, Ryan wouldn't have settled for the FG to hope and win the game, he would had his offense put a boot to the defenses throat and put the game out of reach...

He had us at 4th & less than one on his side of the field.... he punted.

If he was the guy you're saying, he would have gone for it like every other coach did & make it.

Screw that, we're not out of contention. The Titans lost, The Colts are playing the Pats.

We're still in it.

His RB's were getting stuffed on almost every running play...Why take that chance when your defense has been playing so well all afternoon?

and on the flip side why the hell didn't Kubiak call for better plays from the 4 yard line to put the game out of reach and not have to depend on his 32nd ranked defense...

Kubiak needs to go...

Absurd...every coach does this..Hell Parcell has made a career out of doing this. Cant getg on kubes for that.........................Get on him for his personnel decisions since that is what's ultimately going to hang him.

good post..ridiculous how some in here think.

ridiculous how some people can't read other's posts before making smart ass comments...

point was Ryan wouldn't have settled for the FG to go up by 4 like Kubiak did, he would have put the game out of reach from the 3-4 yard line like Kubiak had the chance to and didn't thus once again, getting beat by his own defense...

Oh, bullshit. Every coach in the league would've kicked the field goal there. Stop convincing yourself otherwise. Rex Ryan has a top 5 defense. He would've kicked the field goal and gone into pass coverage mode.

Kubiak needs to go...

Not that I disagree with Kubs needing to go, but I don't have a problem with the play call there-throwing would have been stupid and probably end up in an INT...

I thought Kubiak would have called a little safe short pass pr a bootleg, but I talked myself into believing in his plan there.

I think this is an issue of hindsight being 20/20 really...

But as a head coach I think you have to know your team a bit better.

I can kind of see what he was thinking there though because the D-line was getting some good pressure and we were covering well on the back end towards the end of the game.....

But I am leaning towards your line of thinking...Kubiak has to know that his defense overall just isn't very good...I understand having faith in your team, but when they are historically bad it's time to say screw that..

NOT EVERY COACH IN THE LEAGUE HAS THE 32ND RANKED DEFENSE IN THE NFL!!!!!

Maybe I am of base in Ryan probably would have kicked the FG, maybe not cause Ryan is more aggressive than most but fact remains, Kubiak should have gone for the TD and not the FG....

You keep telling yourself that......:ok:

Actually we are the 31st defense. Maybe he thought that mattered...
I'm watching the Colts game and they just commented about what a mess the Texans are...

Just to be fair, I think when your team is 7-2 you can be more aggressive....

I think Kubes kinda has to walk on egg shells with this bunch because they have already shown that they will and can make crucial mistakes at the most inopportune times.

You keep telling yourself that......:ok:

Tell myself what, that going for the TD instead of a FG would have been the better call, especially when you have one of THE WORST DEFENSES in NFL History....

don't be made someone saw it different than you, and is right....

My bad 32nd worst pass defense...still you do not put a game in the hands of one of the worst defenses in NFL history to win a game...

& if we dont get it & all the jets have to do is move in fg range to win it, what would you have to say then? it was the right call.

True in bold, but did conservative ever win a team anything? Right now the freaking Cleveland Browns are more aggressive that the Texans, even though they have nothing to lose...

yeah, you put it in the guys hands who's showed up for you all season...Arian foster. That's what he did.

and got stuffed 2 out of the three time. Not saying putting it in Foster's hands was wrong, but when you know your defense can give up a TD in the flash of an eye, you need to break out the ol bootleg plays and find a way into the end zone and put this game out of reach and NOT rely on your defense, no matter how well they may have seemed to play today, to win the game...

You confusing know how to win versus play to win. The Jets were the most conservative team offensively in NFL in 2009. If anything they would have been good enough to score on three straight runs versus not call them.

it was the conservative call, and the conservative call just got Kubiak's ass beat, again, for the 4th straight game...

so was it really the right call?

I'm willing to put my house up in a bet that at least 80% of the coaches in the NFL do the exact same thing kubes did there. Now, could he have mixed in a short pass there & been slightly more aggressive with the play calling in the 3 plays? sure. But on 4th down? no way. But giving it to a guy who has 10 TDs running the ball in the red zone wasn't necessarily a bad strategy either.......& no, you're not right dude, this ain't madden.

They were conservative for one reason in 09, they had a rookie QB that was making too many mistakes...

That same QB from a year ago just carved up the Texans defense and won another comeback game for the Jets...

Kubaik should have found a way to score the TD and not settle for the FG and put the game in a horrible defenses hands to win...

The fact is you're not right.

You said yourself we have one of the worst defenses in history...so yyou should very well know if we had scored a TD they would have tied the game with one plus a 2PC and won the game in overtime...

The fact is that our defense is bad enough that if we aren't ahead by 2 scores with 1 second left we can still lose.

Wow, you really are missing the whole damn point aren't you? Open your eyes a bit. 80% of the coaches in the NFL do not have a 31-32nd ranked defense in the NFL not one of THE WORST in NFL history now do they? Noooo they don't so going for the FG and expecting the defense to make a stop with 55 sec left makes alot of sense...

But we are not talking about 80% of the coaches, we are talking about 1 coach with THE WORST defense in the NFL and one of THE WORST in NFL History and when you have that, you throw conservative and stats out the window and find a way to put the game out of reach. So when your safety doesn't know his head from his ass and forgets to cover over the top and leave a Braylon Edwards wide open, you don't lose the game...

Please quit comparing Gary Kubiak with 80% of other NFL coaches...

His RB's were getting stuffed on almost every running play...Why take that chance when your defense has been playing so well all afternoon?

It's the point, guy is talking about Rex being a ballsier go for the win coach, that was a situation in this game, where Rex did not live up to that expectation.

so was it really the right call?

Just stop dude cause you really are making absolutely 0 sense from a strategy perspective.

Simply put yes it was. Not that you'd know it watching the texans play d, but it is substantially harder to go the length of the field to score a TD than moving a team in FG range. taking the 3 pts there & forcing the jets to do just that was the right call. Just b/c our defense is trash doesn't mean that you put them in an even tougher situation (having to stop a team from moving in fg range). Is that seriously your rationale? If so..well, lets hope you don't get a HC job any time soon. Bottom line, they would've gave it up either way.

So I am still giving the defense too much credit? My bad then...

Seriously? Who do you see us beating to make this a winning season, much less make the playoffs?

We'll win out.

I've been seeing some really good football, more & more consistently over the last 4 weeks, & we're still shuffling starters in the game because of injuries or whatever.

This team has got it, this coach has got it..... we're right there.

Only thing I'm seeing lacking so far, is that our offense isn't clicking out of the gate. I think we fix that next week, & we win out.

My way gives them an even better chance of winning the game, your way got the beat again and on a 4 game loosing streak....

They should have went for the TD

Your post is 100% illogical, but it's your right to think so.

MAn I am gonna rep you for just keeping your optimism

but they are not winning out....

Only if they convert....which was about a 30-70 proposition at best considering all the bad things that could happen.
