Team Parcells?

MightyTExan

It's go time!
Count me in if it's as a coach. His attitude is just what the doctor ordered.

Parcells says “I can do this one more time”
Posted by Mike Florio on November 18, 2010, 5:33 PM EST
He’s back. Actually, he never really left.

Weeks after cleaning out his office in Miami and entering the “money for nothing” phase of a cash-and-carry contract with the Dolphins, former V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells offers up an ominous quote at the end of a new documentary regarding his life.

“Get me back out there,” Parcells says near the end of Bill Parcells: Reflections on a Life in Football, per Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post. “I can do this one more time. That’s how I feel.”

:whip:

Dude, don't get me all excited. Parcells would roll into town, fire everybody and their mamma, and have us in the Super Bowl in five seconds.

Is it time to hire the "special consultant" yet?

If the HC job comes open this offseason, then it seems like it would be the best job out there.

Offer this guy the GM job right now and then let him take over at HC at the end of the season.

Hire him as a special consultant right now and then let him move to the GM position at the end of the season and I'll bet that he can find a really good, take no BS, head coach when Kubiak is gone. Parcells seems kinda old for a head coach position.

GM-Bill Parcell
HC-Bill Cowher
DC-Mike Singletary
OC-?

I really think he is a better fit as President of football operations with control of both the GM and the HC.

Of course, if he wanted to fill all 3 spots, that would be ok with me... :D

There's one big thing between that and reality.................McNair's
clam shell pocket book.:kitten:

maybe his clam shell pocket book is in regards to his coach & GM failure to produce at least a playoff team after five years? He wants to keep the books clear without constraints for the right buisness situation (Parcells) :turtle:

I would really like to see

Parcells
Cowher
Nolan
Kubiak

Though I know it would never happen.

Interesting...but I don't know if he'd take the job. If he did I wonder if he could get Buddy Ryan to run the defense. Hell JERI RYAN would be an improvement!

Can we please fix the title?

But yes, I would love to have "Parcell's" here. My first choice, although the Chin and Chucky are next in line. Odds are we wont get any of these guys, but a guy can dream eh?

It would be really interesting to bring him as president to allow him to evaluate Kubiak and staff next season. I know many want Kubes fired but I think the CBA issue will keep him here for next year (though I think Bush will be released). Im not saying this is right or wrong, just what I think will happen. Bringing in Parcells though would help us move in the right direction, give us someone with to determine what our true problem is, talent evaluation or coaching.

I know the coaching staff is getting hammered, but ask yourself this questions: How many of our current defensive players would start on a good team? I count 4 - Williams, Cushing, Smith and Ryans. I think Okoye and Diles are borderline, honestly probably more rotation guys. I don't think any of our secondary, at their current level of play, would start on a good team. I think there is some talent, but at this point they are very young and very error prone.

I don't know who has more input in choosing players, but I'm rapidly loosing confidence in this aspect of our team.

The other thing Parcells might be able to do is attract some veteran talent. i think we are SORELY lacking on the field leadership. I think we have guys that can be leaders but it's different when it's coming from a guy that been there and done that, like Arron Glen and Sharper during their better days with the Texans.

I am not into signing up for Parcells continued retirement plan. Coach Parcells would be more interesting than FO Parcells for where we are.

It would be a great PR move for McNair, but I am not sold on Parcells unless Belichick and LT walk through that door with him.

*Sigh* All these nice HC candidates, yet we're likely going to be stuck with Kubiak again next year. :rake:

Kind of like you. If he doesn't want to man up and be the HC then I am not interested.

Reality check for people - Cowher and Parcel will never work together. Get over it.

If anything he could call out some of our underperforming high draft picks and make them want to bust some chops. If he stepped into the Texans front office today, I guarantee players would know they're playing for their jobs. Right now they know they have nothing to worry about no matter how crappy they perform.

Yeah, I'd pretty much sh*t my pants if we got Parcells here in any manner, be it Coach, GM, PoFO, etc.. Not really much more I can say besides I would be overly ecstatic.

yep. This place is going to be a barrel of monkeys when that realization sets in. :monkey:

Yup, getting Bush out of here and bringing in a DC that has had a successful defense in the NFL might wet the whistle a little bit. No more Kubiak's friends for cripe sake!

I guess i'll have to watch that show tonight then.
It was another excellent piece by NFL Films. It showed Parcells as a leader of men. Both players and coaches. You can't lead the way Parcells led standing 50 yards from the action with a callsheet in front of your face.

Just finished watching it. Pretty good.

I don't see him coming around here. McNair loves stability. That's NOT Parcell's forte at this point in his life/career. He wants to hit/split and take a boatload of cash with him. Don't see it happening.

Surprise me.

I heard on NFLN that Bill Parcels says "he has one left in him"... Didn't specify coaching or GM/FO. But wouldn't be cool to see the Tuna on the sidelines?
Probably never happen in a million years, but here's to dreamin' :barman:

NOW!! Now we're getting closer!!

Although with "Tuna", I'm thinking more about Treasures than I am a coach or the Texans.......

Just sayin'!!!

I know, I know... Bill!!

My uncle played ball with Parcells in college, and said he was a real PriXX.
Maybe that's why he was such a successful coach ?
But I'm OK with Kubiak running the offense, but defense is BPs long-suit
and he could hire his own DC and select the personnel to play in his 3-4.
Kubiaks offense & Parcells defense ? I think that would work ?

Yall should watch that special on NFL network. I thought it was awesome. Parcells is exactly what we need around here. He'd change the culture overnight and start holding people accountable. Pretty much everything dude touches gets a lot better fast. I don't think McNair has it in him to do something this bold. Status quo works when you've sold out every game for 9 yrs straight.

You know for a long time I would have said that to, but the ole man isn't getting any younger. I'm thinkin he's in his 70s now ? He might start thinkin about his own mortality and wondering if he's gonna live long enough to see his team in the playoffs ?
