If you could take a 9-7 record right now for this year, would you do it and take your chances on the playoffs? Or do you think the team can exceed 9-7 still?

I voted no because 9-7 keeps the status quo going.

We either win 10+ games and make playoffs

or

shlart the panties and lose majority of rest of games so we can rebuild......again.........even though nothing was ever "built".....:gun: :kubepalm:

one or the other...i want playoffs or change...not the same **** again next year

You think this team can go 5-4 the rest of the way with that schedule? I don't think so because they play too many teams with balls. This team is castrated thanks to Kubina.

If they go 9-7, Kubiak better be gone or they are going to lose alot of fans. that will be proof-positive that our owner doesn't make winning in the playoffs a top priority.

Nope, I don't. I voted to take the 9-7 and run with it, LOL.

No - we win at least 10. Our chances of winning 6 more? Not real good, I'd say. No more settlin' - time to man up and win.

if 9-7 gets us into the playoffs so be it I'd be happy with that but we need to start getting into the playoffs and get on a hot streak.

But yah unless there is a massive AFC crash 9-7 we'll be at home sucking tits again..

Something about throwing the baby out with the bath water...... I'm not with that.

11-5 if not better. There is still a lot of football to be played.

9-7 will not prove anything, and if it's just enough to save Kubiak's job i am against it. Either make playoffs and make real strides as an organization, or lose your job. That's the way i see it.

You wouldn't see 9-7 against this schedule as any better than 9-7 against last year's schedule?

I say 10 wins or more with a shot at the playoffs (assuming we don't win the division, which is very doubtful IMO), or go to the other extreme with
no more wins (that's right: 4-12) to maximize our Draft position.

I voted no. I want more than 9 wins. I dont want to chance the playoffs this year. If we dont get our 9 wins then all the more reason to kick Kubes to the curb.

Not at all. Strength of schedule was heavily inflated by playing the Colts twice and outside of that, the schedule hasn't panned out the way we thought it would exactly.

Even if it did, if you're a real playoff team, you do whatever it takes to get in, whether it beating on bad teams all season or beating the best of the best. So 9-7 this season means nothing more to me then last year's 9-7. To me, it just says "same sh*t, different day".

Kubiak does absolutely nothing to inspire the team out of the gate in the first half when most games end up being won or lost, and that is inexcusable. Maybe he'll learn that these "scripted plays" are not effective in doing anything except allowing the offense to play from behind for the rest of the game. The defense actually fought hard under the circumstances, yet the offense did nothing to help them.

I voted no because 9-7 will not get us in the playoffs. If it could, I would be happy with it. Other than that I wouldn't be happy with anything less than 11-5.
As far as "taking 9-7". Well I would take it because however the season plays out is just the way it is. I'm not going to stop being a fan, I will just be a little bit grumpier! :texflag:

This team would be both lucky and unlucky to go 9-7 this year. Lucky because 9-7 appears to be over-achieving for such a mediocre team, and unlucky because it would be just good enough to keep Kubiak.

I feel the same way. The 1-6 Cowboys walked all over us, the then not so hot Giants kicked our but. Washington doesn't look like they'll be much better than last year, San Diego is in a heap of trouble, the Broncos are worse than they were last year (already)....When I get home tonight, maybe I'll calculate the toughest schedule to date, but I don't think we're any where near the top.

Last years numbers are last year.

Not just no but hell no. Kubiak is done here as far as I'm concerned. The man simply is not head coaching material.

What many of us were worried about when he was hired and what some of us thought was obvious a couple of years ago has know been made painfully obvious. He's not getting it done. We are 35-36 with Gary Kubiak which means to me that 5 years after he was hired he's still a loser and the Texans are still losers. I don't think we'll make it to .500 this season and when that happens Gary needs to be fired. It's as simple as that.

When a team fails at fundamentals like tackling and blocking the way these guys did last night that tells me they've ceased taking the coaching. The way the game was called last night I can't say I blame them.

When a coach just randomly abandons the run despite averaging almost 7 yards a carry against an opponent that everyone on the planet knows they can run against that makes no sense. It's worse when his alternative plan is to rely on a passing attack that's being eaten alive by Freeney. You have Duane Brown who always looks like crap against Freeney but who now hasn't played in 5 weeks (including the bye) and so he's extra-special lousy on this night.

If for no other reason than the performance of the defense Kubiak needs to be fired. He chose to hire Frank Bush and we are worse than we were when he hired his other buddy. Instead of choosing a proven and successful DC Gary chose to promote a friend who wasn't ready. That will cost him his job I think.

Not really

-Look at the SD game if your going to play SD u want to play them on the road look there a paper champ on the way DOWN IMO and Kubes always does this its a rebound game and kubes is best at rebound games

-@jags yes tough match up but if this is the magical season grinding it out with the jags should be the easy part of our season

@jets- the jets are OVERATED they have a worse O then Us and i just think we get our revenge this time around

What?

I voted no because 9-7 would be a nightmare. Everything would remain the same. Kubiak needs to go. Take his "smartest guy in the room" mentality with him. He should have been fired last year like alot of us fans were calling for. Too many people accept medicrity when it comes to professionial sports in Houston because that is what we have been fed for decades.

Last nights game was a complete coaching disaster. It reminded me of last year when the Texans came off their bye week to face the Titans on a monday night. Kubiak unveiled secret weapon Chris Brown in an embarrassing loss on national tv. Please. Stop the insanity this year. I can't take another year of Kubiak.

A lot of people are looking at San Diego's 3-5 record, and thinking they
are a "bad team." I don't know how many of their games you've watched,
but they are a team that can kick the Texans' ass all over Reliant. In fact,
I can envision Phillip Rivers jawjacking with the fans as the Chargers are
smashing the weak-willed Texans' offense.

San Diego has an EXCELLENT offense, and an EXCELLENT defense. Special
teams is their ONLY glaring weakness. When was the last time the Texans
played a full game at home? If they don't do so this Sunday, they'll be down
24-0 at halftime again.

No. 9-7 will not get this team into the playoffs, so I won't take 9-7. If I thought 9-7 would get them in the playoffs I would take it, but I believe a 10-6 record is needed to get into the playoffs in the AFC.

Easily. San Diego is going to kick the stuffing out of the Texans and if they do I predict this Sunday will be the game that a good third of the roster begins coasting on Gary full time.

This makes me glad that we went a head and wrapped up Andre Johnson for a good few more years.

Wonder if he is regretting that at all right now. He's not getting any younger and rebuilding will take a while most likely.

I am focused more now on how we have lost the three games than the rest of the schedule. Wins over our next two opponents would do little to console me.

A lot of people are looking at San Diego's 3-5 record, and thinking they are a "bad team."

Not sure about today however going into last Sunday the Chargers were #1 in the league in offense and defense. However I guess with those stats you can say they are a "bad team" because they were 2-5.

That being said they did beat the Titans and are probably getting ready to get on a roll to right the ship a little. This is just going to be another case of "catching a team at the wrong time" just like it was with Dallas.

Notice how no one ever catches the Texans "at the wrong time" not even the Colts who should have been at the "right time" last night with all the injuries. Like always the other teams always dictate what is going on around here.

LOL Herv, sounds like you might be doing some yard work on Sunday. Hopefully the leaves have already started falling.

No. 9-7 is unacceptable. This team is too damn talented to be a fringe playoff team. AJ is the best WR in the league. Schaub threw for a top 10 amount of yards last year. The Cush was DROY (twice), Ryans is/was a top 10 ILB, etc.

All of these players were picked by Kubiak (exception AJ), and if they dont make the playoffs, he needs to be shown the door.

Schaub threw for the 7th highest passing total of all time last year. 4,770 yards or something.

For the sake of argument, let's say this is true. AJ is the best, Schaub is pretty damn good.

What are we missing? We've got a running game..... damn near run the ball at will. Why can't we get the passing game going?

Last year, the threat of a run game was enough to open the play action all day long, no matter who we faced. This year, not so much.

What's going on here?

IMHO, shouldn't matter if we run on the Colts or play pitch & catch with the best WR in the league & a pretty decent QB..... & if they're doubling AJ, there's Walter (or should be) OD is healthy, then we have Dressen & Casey (haven't seen him either). Then JJ.

What's wrong with our passing game?

Yep, I meant all time, my bad.

The problem is the calls that the coach makes. He is not gameplanning to the players' strengths. That is the only thing I can think of right now.

It's not like they're TRYING to lose.

Meh. It's not like our voice matters or anything...

Go Texans.

You have done smoked yourself retarted. :ant:

We should probably be 2-5 right now, seeing as we got lucky versus the Redskins and Chiefs.

More of the same from Kubiak et al. There is now a mental and toughness hump that this team can't get over with the current leadership. Bring in The Chin.

I am not going to bang on the Texans for their losses, and say they were lucky for their wins. They earned those wins.

It wasnt like a bird flew low on the field and got hit by a field goal attempt giving us the win. Our offense or defense made a few plays at the end of the game to get the W.

Ok when we beat the CHargers and Jags ill look foward to what u have to say

The thing is: they have to beat the Chargers & Jags. Weeks eleven through fifteen are the hardest part of the schedule with the Jets, Titans (twice), Eagles & Ravens during those weeks.

That's about 7 losses there - we may beat the Jags once.

Even with the play calling, the receivers were open, the only bad throw was the one that was picked... & returned.

I think it's very superficial to blame this loss on the play calling.

We're going three & out, regardless who we're playing, & to me, it looks like a QB issue.
