Ode to the Texans Defense (Radio Gold!)

I caved in and listened. I wasn't very optimistic since this thread title suggested it would be a song or poem. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Quality play-by-play. A+++ WOULD LAWL AGAIN!

What's that a pardody of? I know I have heard the voice and the tempo before but don't know the origin.

its of the (really, really) old-school play by play radio guys

that was class....

my favourite part was: 'glover quin, on hearing the whistle, will momentarily look up from his gameboy and slowly make his way back to the defensive huddle where my soul slowly dies just a little bit more with every passing play'

It is a very common voice tone for all sorts of media people from the early 20th century. A kind of nasaly, flat sort of tone. Think back to any instructional black and white videos they used to show in schools (that's right, Billy. scrub with soap AND water), or certain newsreels.

I'm not sure. I think it was done after the MNF game and re-aired this week after the SD game. I happened to catch it early when they played it like at 7:00 in the morning. Luckily my office was empty as I laughed my ass off hard.

I just listened to it again a few times.

"Kareem Jackson falls down"

GOLD!

haha this is whats even sadder. It could have come from many of our games!

I remember hearing this about a month ago on SR610 on the whiner line...was one of the funniest things ever....kudos to the guy who took time out to actually do this.

What gets me is if it wasn't done right, timing and pace-wise, it might not have been funny at all. I love the fast pace of the gag, the timing was spot on and made all the difference in the world.

Kudo +1.

That whiner was hilarious beyond words. That announcer sounded just like Walter Winchell, newspaper columnist and radio commentator..........you might remember him as the narrator of the old The Untouchables TV series starring Robert Stack as Eliot Ness.

I could just see this being played in black and white with those black film rips showing and all the players actual movements being sped up. Really funny.
