...that the defense is saving the good stuff for this, the second game against the Colts. That they're playing possum with all of the predictable pass rushing and soft zone coverage only to surprise Big Manning and sweep the Colts on the season.

I don't want to risk that kind of disappointment; someone disillusion me please.
 
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. Why would they possibly lose 4-6 games to beat the colts in week 8?

I don't know about waiting to play defense til this game but it seems like Mario plays so much harder when Manning is the QB.
 
I doubt they are waiting until the Indy game to turn it up. What they are probably doing is waiting for the Indy game to show that they aren't as bad as the first six weeks of the season. They'll come out on fire.
 
If your saying the defense has something more to offer the Colts then in week 1, wow..... I would love to see that lol. Texans defense absolutely killed the Colts O line and Peyton in week 1. You can bet every single player on that O line has lookd at the tape and remembering what the Texans did to them. They were flat out embarrassed. They will have something in store for the defense as well.... (hopefully)

Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Piere garcon, Anthony Gonzolez, and Donald Brown better show up this Monday night because that is the only way they will win this game. Brody is apparently in this Monday for tight end which I dont completely understand, but none the less its going to be an offensive shootout. If the O line can hold up and give Peyton some time its going to be a great game. Its in Indy and the team knows exactly what Houston did to them in week 1 so they will bring their A game.

So did I? But now I am hearing mixed things... But what it sounds like is Tamme isnt starting.. I really dont understand why, but I guess nothing is totally 100% yet. Tamme has always done well for the Colts when taking Dallas Clarks place. Maybe its still an option, but from what it sounds like from Caldwell is Tamme wont be starting Monday.

Because they knew they could out score the opposing teams (at least three of them).

The offense seems to be running on all cylinders with the exception of a few sputtering times here and there and our QB has shown that one rare asset that EVERY team in the NFL needs......the ability to bring back their team from behind and put the game on your shoulders and get the W.

I am very happy Schaub is our QB.

I never shared this publicly, until now...

I, too, have wondered if it's a rope-a-dope type of move. Are we intentionally lulling the second half of the schedule (the tough guys) into thinking we're awful, and then we're going to switch gears and do things totally different.

You just don't see a big level of concern from the coaches. So is this all by design, to do just enough and to play "vanilla" so that you let your offense eek out a win vs. these first 6 or 7 opponents, and then you unleash your defense down the home stretch.

Because I know this defense could not have taken THAT big of a turn for the worse just by losing Dunta and Jacques. It's not logical to me. And you don't even hear the players acting like they're desperate.

I know this is a long shot, but maybe they are being held back on scheme and overall philosophy, on purpose, by the coaches JUST to totally make a switch at some point in time that they're waiting for. Like maybe MNF? Because we looked awful on MNF last year, which was also right after a bye week IIRC. Maybe this is a big ruse or something.

Our Texans better save some of their TRICKS or treats for the Titans. JMO! They seem to be the team to worry about, not the Colts. With all the injurys the Colts have all the Texans have to do is put pressure on Manning, and that's a HUGE whatever, BUT, with Cush at MLB, and the D playing anything like they did in week 1, we should be able to handle this game. I'm worried about the meatballs though.

Do you even watch the Colts?

Eldridge has essentially started all year when they go two TE's. He is the 2nd TE behind Clark so your "inexperienced" description makes no sense. He has been experienced enough to play all year.

You keep talking about Tamme like he has all this experience. Tell me, which of his 6 career receptions was your favorite? But you will get your wish because Tamme will play extensively when they go two TE's.

You know what? As a Colts fan I have the same wish as you. I hope the Texans D plays as it did in week one as well.
 
The Texans D needs to try to do what ever they can to emulate successful defenses...

Playing possum for 6 weeks is not getting that goal accomplished...

We'd all love for this to be the case, but let's not kid ourselves.

Frank Bush doesn't have the brains, and Gary Kubiak doesn't have the balls to pull off this kind of plan.

Although I will say that I believe the defense will be better the 2nd half of the season. The coaches just have to find a way to motivate everyone on the D-line not named Antonio Smith. It all starts with them.

I would bet the over. I know the Colts are without some very key players but they still have Manning. They are going to move the ball and score points. The same can be said for Houston.

The Colts have been money in Prime Time. Plus I think the threat of being 0-3 in the division will be motivation. I expect a close game though.

So your saying that the proof that the defense hasn't been intentionally under-performing, and purposely playing super vanilla defenses, causing us to be last in D after the first six games is because our D-Coordinator isn't smart enough, and our HC isn't bold enough to formulate and carry out that plan?

What you see is what you get from Frank Bush. He's not creative enough to have special defensive schemes and blitzes stashed in his back pocket to use on a rainy day.

Bush is a second year D-coordinator with a lot of young players taking key snaps...

I can see why he doesn't just take the door off the hinges, but I also see your point..

But sometimes it just seems as if the Texans have the hardest time doing the most simple things...I think the players have a lot of talent, but I don't know if they are consistently being put in the best positions to utilize those talents...

Yeah, I know he's in a tough situation after the front office decided to stick with the youth in the offseason, and I know that the D can turn things around similar to last year, but the defense just doesn't have an identity right now.

We all thought the strength of the D would be the D-line, but other than the Indy game where they straight dominated, there has not been as much pressure to the QB as we all would have hoped or even expected.

The LBs have also disappointed, and we all know about the secondary. I won't put all the blame on Bush, as I believe the coaches have a lot to do with improving a defense (in terms of focusing on stripping the ball, causing turnovers, tackling, etc).

But yes, I agree with you. Sometimes the players aren't in the right position, and sometimes they just plain aren't making the plays.

After we beat the Cowpukes in the pre-season game....all they said was this.

"Maybe the coaches are playing vanilla and will crank it up when the season starts cause by the looks of it, all pre-season long we've looked like utter crapola"

Substitute the team, pre-season for regular season and apply the same futile play on defense and the results look to be the same.

I'd love for what you're saying to come true but there's nothing we can see in the defense that tells us that any drastic improvement will be made.

I believe that the only possible way your scenario even appears to be true is if the DC decides to go ahead and release the dogs on Peyton and start playing the rookie DB like he would anyone else manning that side of the field. If Frank Bush thinks that he can get away with it then we might see some aggressive defense that make it look like you were on to something.

But you aren't. It would just be a coincidence. Nobody plays possum in the NFL for anybody. That's over thinking things a bit my friend.

I am sure the D almost blew two or three games already just to beat the Colts again. Yhea, right. LOL

When Kubiak and his coaches AND I had our telephone conference before the season, I told them I thought you were listening in but they just would not accept that. Poor Kareem Jackson and our free safeties just did not understand that they were SUPPOSED to allow lots of yards to sucker that Manning guy. (Hey, everyone knows his IQ ain't that high anyway). Expect to see KJ and WIlson and my favorite best player Barber go INT crazy and we beat Colts 30 -17. The schedule is all downhill after that.
