Oregon and Boise State ranked above Auburn. What a complete joke.

How can a 6-0 Boise State team that beat an AP ranked #21 VTech and a unranked Oregon State be ranked higher than a 8-0 Auburn team that beat AP ranked #23 Miss State, #17 ranked South Carolina, #19 Arkansas, and #12 LSU? Not to mention victories against unranked opponents Clemson and Kentucky are infinitely more impressive than Boise State's victories against....well anyone else they have played. Maybe put together. These rankings I am using above to compare are all this week. Even TCU should be ranked higher than Boise. Their overall schedule has been more difficult, plus they are 8-0 while Boise is 6-0.

That makes no sense to me at all. Even Oregon shouldn't be ranked higher than them. Sure Oregon is killing people, but who are they killing? Every single team they have beat/played has a losing record except for Stanford. New Mexico has yet to win a game. Washington State is 1-7, their only win coming against Montana State. Tennessee and Portland State are both 2 win teams. Tennessee has only beaten Tennessee-Martin and UAB (in overtime), they are 0-5 in the SEC. Arizona State and UCLA are both 3-4. Yes, that has been their schedule thus far.

Has college football really turned into who can beat the shittiest teams the best?

Who cares right now to be honest? If Auburn wins out, they'll be #1 or #2. People don't win awards for being ranked #1 in the middle of the season.

Pretty much if Auburn, Oregon, Michigan State, or Mizzou all win out, I have a feeling they'll leap frog both BSU and TCU, though there is a smaller chance of jumping TCU in my mind.

Plus pbat, I don't know if what you are saying is true. It depends on what the BCS does this week but, 8-0 Auburn has played the majority of their big games. They have Alabama left. That's the only ranked team they will play. 6-0 Boise State was done after week 3 with mildly difficult opponents if thats what you want to call them, yet they are still ranked higher than Auburn. If beating #6 undefeated LSU after beating other highly ranked teams can't propel you above Boise State, why would a win against Alabama do that?

My overall point is that it's a complete joke. Their rankings are contradicting. How can a team that beat more top 25 teams in your own poll be ranked lower than a team that beat less top 25 teams in your poll?

Your right about middle of the season rankings not meaning anything, but you may want to take it a little further. The end of the season rankings don't mean anything either if this is how flawed they are.
 
They also have SEC championship game, as do Mizzou and Mich St in their respective conference's championships if they make it there.

Neutral ground against usually ranked teams in the final week of the season. Should be exactly what Boise fears if they do win out to that point and are still ranked ahead of them.
 
I just have this sick feeling that Boise will go to the NCG if they go undefeated regardless. I think they want to give these teams the feeling that it's possible. A political move if you will.

Good. A TCU-Boise State Championship game may be exactly what is necessary to move towards a 8 team tournament.
 
I heard this on the radio or on ESPN College Football (probably the latter). What was suggested was this: have the top teams play in their respective Bowl Games and take the winners from that and have them play in the National Championship game.

So roughly something like this:

Boise St. VS Oregon

Michigan St. VS Auburn

TCU VS Missouri


Then have some kind of mini-playoffs between the winners (its better when you have fewer undefeated teams). I suspect a bias towards the SEC and Alabama just like Florida who went in place of Michigan to play Ohio State because of Urban Meyer's campagning, but whatever.

Making Bowl Games important gives teams an incentive to play hard and not just mop over being skiped for the title game just because they're a smaller school.
