14-3 Iowa State ... Gilbert just threw another INT

Mack Brown - one of America's greatest college football recruiters and one of its worst football coachs.

Watching this team on Saturdays is reminding me too much of watching the Texans on Sundays.

:kubepalm:

Not sure about that. It's actually quite opposite. On Saturdays we are watching a team that can't move the ball. On Sundays we are watching a team that can't stop anyone.

missed fg.

There are a lot of holes on the offense. A fg would have made it an 8 point game and given some momentum to the second half.

Wow...Texas is just not good. What does that say about Nebraska? How overrated were they?

It says "any given Saturday". That is why the system is so flawed. At least in the NFL teams can overcome getting beat by a lesser opponent once or twice a season.

Texas is just having a down year. It isn't a good thing but it happens sometimes. Gilbert has been a disappointment and they better hope that Malcolm Brown honors his verbal commitment and doesn't change to Alabama because they are still coming hard after that guy.

Would you want to play in a Greg Davis offense as a RB or for Alabama's offense?

Classic letdown after giving Nebraska the middle finger in Lincoln. It was a great win for the program and for our conference/state, but Mack better hope he can rally the troops because this loss would be the most embarassing loss in a long long time. If they can't beat Iowa State we may be talking the horns playing Texas Bowl in Reliant...or worse. That would be 3 losses and if they can't beat Iowa State at home there could be more losses to come.

This team looks unprepared, unfocused, and unmotivated. Plus you have the offseason where Georgia is going to come after Muschamp real hard after firing Richt. Texas can match the paycheck but Georgia is Will's school and he wouldn't have to wait DeLoss Dodds retires to get promoted to HC.

As long as Malcolm Brown (and the myriad of others) keeps his commitment, there is hope for 2011, but 2010 looks like its gonna be a rough time for the boys in Austin.

Florida State is going hard at Malcolm Brown as well if I am not mistaken.

Edited by the time machine. It just went back to 2003.

....the more things change.....

Well as an Aggie I would like to welcome the Longhorns to the second tier of the Big 12 South. Enjoy yourselves, stay for a while (please!), we have punch and pie next to the chocolate fountain. You know what they say, misery loves company :D

Fast forward a little ... Adrian Peterson changes his commitment to OU because he feels he has a better shot at winning a NC with OU.

Fast forward a little more ...

True. The closest he ever got to winning a NC was a 55-19 beatdown by the Trojans.

I was always amused by that even though I hated losing Peterson as a recruit. He was even on the Texas sideline when they got worked over 65-13 by OU in 2003.

I knew he wasn't coming to Austin after that game. I see it working out the same way with Malcolm Brown.

...and another Gilbert interception.

Another INT by Iowa State.

OUCH!!

That's on the receiver. If you get two hands on the ball you have to catch it. Texas does not have any receivers on this team. Hard to be a spread offense if you don't have a receiver!

Texas has just flat quit - ain't no more fight in them. And at home to.
I guess this must be like the UCLA game which I didn't see ?

Some of Gilbert's decision making is quite poor. However, how much of this is on him and how much on his very poor receiving corp?

I mean here is who he has to throw the ball:
1. Kirkendall: overarted
2. Malcolm Williams: stone hands
3. Mike Davis: nice weapon but not a #1 receiver
4. Goodwin: See Davis
5. John Chiles: failed QB conversion

Whatever happened to the days of Roy Williams, Limas Sweed, Quan Cosby, and Jordan Shipley?

Is Gillbert the Jevan Snead for Texas? He sure as hell is nowhere near McCoy in terms of the first season as a full time starter.

The question though is who is going to challenge him. Do you see anyone on the roster who is going to be the Colt to GG's Snead? Connor Wood? Case McCoy? John Paul FLoyd? Maybe recruit David Ash?

Hahaha FSN announcers are the worst... a snippet from the last punt by Iowa State...

Announcer 1: "Wow, it looks like they're gonna mark it at the 30!"

Announcer 2: "Ten.."

As for the game, till now it looks like UT-Austin overlooked/couldn't get up for this game, especially after the big win last week, and are just now starting to get into it.

Announcer, "Malcolm Williams is a superstar...he is inconsistent though, he will catch one of those and then drop a couple of easy ones"

How can you be a superstar if you are inconsistent?! The very definition of superstar prohibits that!

We disagree.

Signed,

Braylon Edwards, Roy Williams, and Terrell Owens

Horns squib kick it down the field. Looks like Iowa State will be able to run out the clock.
