Mike LB Trade Possibilities

So from the sounds of kubiak's presser, it seems trading for a MLB could be a possibility in the next day. so who are some guys we should target?

obviously the candidates should be a backup or an ageing player on a team with few wins.. anybody got any names

I think Diles will move over to MLB and they'll look for somebody to play his WLB spot if they make a trade at all.

after looking through the list, some guys id either like or are possibilities are: Danny Clark, Omar Gaither and AJ Hawk are the only names i came up with

But are comfortable with Derrick Ward as the starter if Arian Foster goes down?

Absolutely, Derrick Ward has been the bargain aquisition of the year (Arian was acquired last year). There was nothing wrong with him at all, just not a good fit in Tampa. Fits great here.

Our defense is a sinking ship right now with holes everywhere from lack of experience and injuries. One of the few bright spots on D just went down and the next 3 guys on the depth chart Adibi, Bentley, and Sharpton are all banged up. Right now running back is a luxury position that could help us plug up some of those holes on D

That's a good point. I do have faith in Derrick Ward. He's done nothing but good for us. Ward might not be the most eloquent running back, but he sure gets it done.

And I'd be ecstatic to have AJ Hawk in a Texan's uniform. Some Packer fans claim he's regressed for the 2009 season, but I honestly believe that's due to Caper's switch to the 3-4 defense. He's only 26 and should be in his prime.

I need to stop getting my hopes up. :texflag:

Yea its weird, after his stellar rookie year you didnt hear much about him, I dont know if he fell out of the coaches favor or guys were just outplaying him on the depth chart. I remember game 1 of this season he didnt play a single defensive snap but the coaches said he just wasn't part of the packages they were using, I guess going more DB heavy.

anybody own a time machine? maybe we could go back & draft Patrick Willis

Miami released Bobby Carpenter today. Funny quote from rotoworld got me thinking that he's a perfect fit:

"Carpenter was a huge special teams liability and plays with no physicality on defense."

He is perfect for this defense! Snatch him up! :heh:

As far as AJ Hawk, I would like to have him, but I doubt GB will let him go.

If we can get AJ Hawk, we can continue stockpiling 2006 first rounders.

All bullshit aside , Hawk would probably be better in the middle than Diles was in the second half against the Chiefs.

At this point I'd try Niel Rackers at MLB if I thought he could tackle and occasionally cover a TE. Hell , maybe we can try him at CB if they get a LB. :rake:

Kubiak said that when they had that confusion about who was supposed to be out there on special teams , Rackers was putting his helmet on and about to run out on the field as a gunner...but they called a timeout....

In Diles defense the guy has been all over the field this year, and he had to relay the plays and run the D, his head was probably spinning.

Off the top of my head: Keith Brooking, Jon Beason (i would love him, hes cheap, young, a stud and next year it be hard not to switch to a 3-4) Kirk Morrison, AJ Hawk, or a time machine to go back in time and keep Demeco out for that play.

All in all i dont think the texans make any ESPN type moves. I would be surprised, however, if they did noting at all.

What about Shawne Merriman? Does he have an suspension time to serve, not that I want him, Duane Brown and Cush hanging out.....

LOL, Rackers is awesome.

Yeah , not your every day liquored up kicker .... I think he had 3 tackles on ST ?

HEY Texans defense , you are getting jacked up by a KICKER. Show some pride why dont ya !

Wonder is Rackers could play the part of a shut down corner.............

I remember this. I was watching the sidelines, and Coach Joe comes running down the sideline, screaming his head off, then they called a timeout, but he was pissed.

Almost as pissed as Antonio Smith was as he chewed out the all the secondary guys (right around the beginning of the 4th quarter). He said something to the effect of 'you guys are playing like some bitches out there.' Then proceeded to sit at the end of the bench, by himself. I wouldn't want to be in the doghouse with that dude.

And per usual, Jon Weeks was destroying the Gatorade like there is no tomorrow.

In AJ's latest article he suggests that Tim Howard might be a trade option at WILL, in which we'd move Diles to MIKE.

no love for Isaiah Greenhouse? I've lost count how many times the Texans have kicked him the to the curb but wouldn't surprise me at all if they wound up signing him again.
