Ferguson, or Gallery

To alot of people this years best prospect is D'Brickshaw Ferguson. I would just like to know how you peolpe think he compares to the last great LT to come out of the draft. FRom what I hear, he is a betterthan Gallery was in '04.

From what I have seen, Ferguson is a better athlete and has the better feet in pass protection, while Gallery is stronger and a lot more nasty.

I've looked at a lot of 2006 mock drafts, every draft I've seen Ferguson in the top 5 overall. Gallery was the overall 3rd pick last year if I recall. Well I didn't see much of Robert Gallery last year so I can't say he wasn't a good lineman, but Ferguson looks like he can be a superstar. I've seen a mock draft with the Titans selecting Ferguson, and I don't want that to happen.. lol. But my guess will be is that Ferguson will be more usuable than Gallery which most teams would probably like, I could be wrong here but I think Ferguson isn't as heavy as Gallery and should have quicker feet/hands. Like the dude before me said, if you want some great pass protection Ferguson will be a perfect fit, and Gallery would be a perfect fit for run blocking.

Derek's selection: D'Brickshaw Ferguson

Look at our LT turnstile the past few years and getting a potentially multi-ProBowl LT shouldn't bother you at all. But personally I hope the Titans don't draft a good LT either, let our D break in a project in the future...

Yeah, Brad Hopkins could be let go in the future for salary cap reasons but I sure hope he doesn't, we need him. I think we should spend our 1st round draft pick on D also.

Robert Gallery was the #2 overall pick in the 2004 draft via the Oakand Raiders :)

Robert Gallery will be a monster in this league for many years. If Ferguson turns out to be in the same neighbor hood that makes him pretty good.
To be in a position to get your guy, your projecting a 4-12 season, or worse, for the Texans. Or...selling the farm with draft picks to move up. Personally my only parameters for our future LT is that he's quick enough to neutralize Dwight Freeny. Looks like there will be a good crop next year. It will be interesting to see who we get. Whomever they draft you can expect a learn curve year. Pace and Ogden are the only two modern day LT's I can think of that started from day one at LT and didn't get their QB killed.

Ferguson will have to evaulated as the College season wears on, the one time I watched him he did not impress me at all but I think he was doubled most of the time.

I've watched Gallery play enough to know that he just loves to punish linemen & drive, push & out work his assignment down the field. for a man his size he shows great stamina and passion for running with excellent speed. this is what had puzzeled me this past year playing with the Oakland Raiders why he isn't the starting left tackle? Well I think I figured it out, its not that Sims is better because he's not, its because Gallery loves to play RT & thrives @ RT. his strength is not holding the pocket as much as creating massive holes and destroying double teams. LaMont Jorden is going to have a huge year, not so much his own abilties as that of his offensive line and especially All-Pro RT Robert Gallery (well at least thats my predicition).

Now if Ferguson can come into the league and become an All-Pro LT in his second year in the NFL then you really got something :tv:

andrew whitworth has played pretty damn good so far this season

other than D'Brickshaw and McNeil whom I have yet to see play this year, I would select Andrew Whitworth over two of the other top tackles Jonathan Scott of Texas or Eric Winston, Miami. Andrew has great character, competitiveness, duarbility & mental alertness combined with excellent base/footwork, knee bend and ability to pass block or pull/trap leading the back thru the hole. its difficult to say anything positive about the affects of Katrina but his personel involvment and assistance through this crisis by helping flood victims has only enhanced his already steller character, and while not the dominant left tackle coming out of College of a Gallery I have no doubt he could step into that starting tackle position for the :texans:

From what I've read and seen of D'Brick, he has the chance to be in the elite mold of Pace and Boselli. Perhaps he won't be as large but he will have the best feet and the ability to neutralize the Freeney's of the NFL. We need that.

I'm of the opinion that if the Texans do not take care of their LT problems next season through either a solid free agent aquisition or an aggressive move to get one of the top LT's in the draft then I'm done. I know that's going to draw all the "Well get off the bandwagon! We don't need fans like you!" comments from the "More Loyal Than You" squad but seriously, if it gets to that point then I don't see any reason to continue to support them.

Not signing a LT or drafting a good one would mean to me that the team simply doesn't have a clue and that the more questionable moves of the past four years were business as usual for them. At that point I'm done. I've already followed one lousy team for the majority of my life (Oilers) so I see no reason to waste what's left of it following another clueless franchise.

Every draft/off-season prior to the one coming up I've accepted the Texans statements on what they did to get better or who they took (a little shaky about the Derrick Johnson non-pick) but that stops after this season. If they haven't already found a LT that is going to make us better then that #1 had damned well better be one.

We better pick D Brick. I mean come on how cool is that nickname Da Brick

I will be very disapointed if we are a top 10 picking team, and we dont get him. I havent watched D'Brick play alot of games, maybe 2. But he is very impressive with what I saw of him.

Notice that not many people have really seen him play a lot.

I'm not saying I've watched even 8 games of his, but the one's I've seen, he looks like he's not 1/2 the player Gallery is. And calling him a better athlete than Gallery is abcolutely crazy. Gallery's footwork is amazing.

Top OT prospect misses game… Virginia OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, a top prospect for the 2006 draft, was in street clothes this past Saturday when the Cavaliers were knocked off by Maryland. There is no word, however, on why Ferguson was not in uniform, although the implication from the school is that he has an undisclosed injury. There is also no word whether Freguson will be able to go this weekend when the Cavs play Boston College; pro scouts, of course, are hoping that Ferguson will be available to go head-to-head with BC DE Mathias Kiwanuka, the top pass-rusher in the 2006 draft class. Meanwhile, star Cavaliers’ junior LB Ahmad Brooks, another potential top 5-10 pick, did make his 2005 debut when he surprisingly played versus the Terps. Brooks, who had surgery on his right knee in March, played with a heavy brace and was credited with a couple of tackles.

Hmm, I would bet Kiwanuka would abuse Ferguson if they went up against each other. He'll probably hold out of this game in fear of hurting his draft stock.
