I don't quite get the Titans one. The Cowboys beat themselves with the Witten/Colombo penalty late in the game. So if that team shows up more than once a month they'll win the division?

The only reason the Titans won was the penalty? They couldnt have won any other way? They wouldnt have taken the ball down the field and scored without the penalty?

At least try and disguise the Titan hate. They are a good football team.

We've been pretty damn open about it from day one.

I thought that too, until I started comparing team stats. We're not doomed, but we better be ready like they are the Colts. Let me rephrase that, because Kubiak will prepare for the freaking Colts this week: we better be as ready for the Chiefs as we were for the Colts in week 1.

At least try to desguise your Titan crush. The Titans are up and down, like every team in this division. They are the Bears of a few years ago. Good Vince and Bad Vince are similar to Good Rex and Bad Rex.

If your definition of a "good team" is an up and down season... then yes... they are a "good team" If not, they are mediocre like the Texans at this point.

All four teams signify (in the afc south) what's going on in the NFL. Parity? Eh, maybe. But it's a lot of mediocrity.

Titans and Jags both looked, well, really good vs. Buffalo and Dallas. The loser of Jags/Titans on monday night will likely look like they have no business near .500...the winner, more than likely, will look like pure **** come week 7.

Not only that, I thought the Washington game was a big win? All I heard after that game was how this team wouldn't have won that game last year. Washington is 3-2, that is another quality win.

In fact the only loss we have to a 'bad' team so far is to the Cowboys.

Yes, they could have driven the field and scored a touchdown without the penalty. The penalty made the Cowboys kickoff from the 15 instead of the 35. The Titan kick returner returned the ball to Dallas' 11 yard-line, where surprisingly the Cowboys committed another penalty to give the Titans the ball at the Cowboys 5 yard line. That game winning touchdown drive was not earned by the Titans, it was given by the Cowboys. Even Jeff Fisher agrees with me.

"That misconduct penalty was big," Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher said. "That return probably doesn't happen if they're not kicking off down there (on their 15)."

cmon. the titans won that game. the cowboys were lucky to be in it as they played flat ala Texans.
 
When the Texans are rated high, the ratings are probably fairly accurate.

When the Texans are rated low, the ratings are complete bullshit.

As always, I've looked at a lot of power rankings this week. I agreed with pretty much everything people had to say about them, but thought this one was especially appropriate:


14 (7). Houston (3-2): Easily the most perplexing team in the NFL. Big losses to Dallas and the New York Giants raise serious concerns about the Texans' long-term ability to contend.

Some are saying "a loss is a loss, 3-2 is 3-2."
Others are saying "Damn the record. How did the team PLAY when they lost?"

I fall into the second category, knowing the Texans don't stand a chance
playing how they did in their losses. One must acknowledge the fact, this
team now has FIVE GAMES on TAPE. Smart coaching staffs will tear this
defense up. The offense has been figured out, and we play a good seven
or eight teams with the physical style capable of shutting it down. W

The Texans are literally the same squad that won the last four games of
2009. The difference in 2010, is the competition out of the division is much
MORE PHYSICAL. I don't know how some people can mark ANY of the FIVE
division games as a "win." The Texans have not demonstrated any winning
consistency EVER in the AFC South under this current coaching regime.

Like I said at the start of the season:
If the Texans are gonna go to the playoffs, they will have to accomplish
MANY things they've NEVER done before. The Texans must find a way
to win SEVEN out of the next ELEVEN games to have a shot at postseason.
However, TEN of the ELEVEN play the very style of ball that snatches
wins from this team year in, and year out.

They'd better not sleep on the Chiefs. They have less talent than the
Texans overall, but they are MUCH better-coached. The 49ers almost
beat us AT RELIANT, but their offensive staff adjusted too late. I don't
see the Chiefs' coaching staff making those kind of mistakes. If the
Texans are to beat KC, they will HAVE to earn it.

I hear what you're saying, & for the most part, you are correct. The Texans are going to have to do some things they've never done before.

I believe they are up to the task. I originally felt the same way as you after the game. The loss didn't bother me near as much as the way we loss, & that bothered me quite a bit.

We are still a growing team, still learning. Among the things we have been doing, that we've never done before, are some of the defensive formations we have been installing the last five weeks. Cushing just got back from his hiatus, losing Barwin really hurt us, and we're still holding auditions for our starting FS spot.... Oh yeah, we're also breaking in a rookie CB.

Don't look at any of that as excuses, we are 3-2 after all, those are just some of the issues we'll have to work out on our play-off journey. Just like we didn't use the hundreds of issues we worked through last year on our way to our first winning season. (well, I didn't).

I understand the road gets tougher from here, and I know our offense looked lost against the Cowboys & Giants. But the chargers lost to the Raiders, the Saints lost to the Cardinals, & the Colts lost to the Jags. That's football.

I don't think it was a lack of effort, or being uninspired, or out-physicaled. We got beat at the point of attack, & we can do better.

After listening to GK, and the players Monday, and re-watching the game (twice), I feel much more confident that we will get it done this year.

Don't let a week of Texans' propaganda sweet-talk you into accepting
bullshit. The teams we play late in the 2010 season, are leaps-and-bounds
better than those we played in 2009. There's literally no where to hide on
this schedule.

I don't know about you, but I don't want a team that gets through the season beating up on weak schedules. If we weren't good enough to get 10 wins last year..... I'm fine with that.

I think this team is better than last years team. I think we'll take on this schedule head on, and we'll come out ok.

Inconsistency is a pretty reliable byproduct of poor pass defense. Through five weeks, the Texans have given up more than 400 yards passing in 40 percent of their games, which is not good. The best performance they've had against the pass this year was when they gave up 278 yards to the very much non-legendary Bruce Gradkowski(notes). As a result, they've lost two of their last three, and were destroyed this week by the Giants. I don't think that's what Texans fans had in mind after they opened the season with a win at Indianapolis.

Comment: Well, maybe it was too good to be true. The wheels are starting to come off a bit for the Texans. That’s two out of the last three games where QB Matt Schaub struggled to get the passing game going. The Texans are giving up almost 330 yards passing each game, a total which sums up their issues in the secondary. (Adam Caplan)

There are a lot of head scratchers this year compared to last. It's only week 5 and we have no undefeated teams.

I don't pay any attention to the power rankings because this isn't the NCAA. They play the games for a reason. Let's just let em play it out and see where the chips lie January 3rd.

Agreed, power rankings don't mean a thing, it's the comments that I like to read.
