It's time to look for a corner in FA or trade

I'm tired of seeing 25 trailing a wide reciever.
Reminds me of the days P-Burnt played.

Obviously we have no pass rush so the corners will remain on islands.

One corner will not fix this problem. Its the whole secondary. Although, I still think DT is just as much of a problem.

Kiddie Corners are killing us. No pass rush and a soft, soft zone coverage is a recipe for disaster.

How many corners have come here and ended up sucking? Even the ones who have a good first year end up being terrible. There is more to this problem then just the corners themselves. Whatever we are teaching is clearly not working.

today might be the straw that broke the camels back with me and this secondary.

All game long I couldn't help but think of the offseason "we drafted Jackson because he is the most NFL read cornerback"

I haven't seen anything

F-ing pitiful. I'm gonna have to change my siganture if they don't figure something out in the secondary.

Hell this group doesn't even deserveto be called secondary, they are more like a fourth.

How the hell did this team beat Indy?????????

To pre-empt anyone who wants to say we should've paid Dunta, I say that $10 million a year isn't worth moving from 32nd to 28th.

If a change has to take place, I'm thinking it's a new DB coach and paying up for a free agent.

Rick Smith is gonna regret not doing more about the secondary in the draft. I like Rick, but if this team ends up missing the playoffs, and regresses record wise, and there are gonna be some people looking for a new job.......

What would it take to get asomugha here? for realz. kareem > dunta but only because dunta-skillz-10 mil=suck. kareem-2 or 3 mil=almost as much suck. Sad that no part of his game is why he's the better option right now....

I don't think one legitimate corner is the answer. We'll still have a lot of holes in defense. Pollard, while a sound tackler and great in run support, is still a liability in coverage.

I'm also beginning to question whether our atrocious secondary play is a result of poor scheming...

Whatever it takes, Texans need to do it.

I don't care if it's a 1st round pick, you can't draft anyone better. IMO Texans should have been doing everything they could to get a sure thing at CB, someone you can rely on week in and week out to cover SOMEONE...ANYONE on the opposing team.

Get sick and tired of seeing some random opposing player WIDE OPEN for 10 yards every play.

Giants killed the clock by passing the ball in the 3rd qtr, there was about 7 mins left and the Giants literally just pass the ball down the field and run like 6 mins off the clock. Embarrassing.

Asomugha's contract is worth way too much. Not an option.

The reality is that we're going to suck on pass defense this year. But the good news is that the young starters can only get better from this point.

I will say it again and again, you have to replace talent with talent. As much as people disliked robinson, he was a good corner. Anywhere between 8-13th in the league. The texans knew they werent going to resign him and i applaud them for drafting a corner in the first rd,but when you're this close to breaking throught, you cant go backwards. They shouldve gotten cromartie for a 5th and bought themselves a year of seasoning for the young guys. How can you cut reeves and keep molden? They had the 13th ranked defense and getting cromartie and keeping reeves wouldve helped them be at least that good. Actually, in the 2nd half, the colts and garcon started picking up big chunks on the corners.

I understand why they needed the most "NFL-ready" cornerback on this team: a rookie was going to be starting in a skill position opposite a 2nd-year player. It made sense, and was the best move they could make in the draft, even in hindsight. Anyone been watching Kyle Wilson? Even as the Jets' nickel corner, he's getting burned worse than bread in a fire pit.

What NEEDED to happen was a trade. The Jets landed Cromartie for a 3rd round draft pick in2011. I'd have done that in a SECOND. Instead they stand pat and don't want to give away draft picks. I like building a team in-house, but when you need to fill a hole NOW, you do whatever it takes to fill that hole.

I haven't seen anything

I said it after the draft.....Every time I see a player hailed as the most NFL ready anything....I close my eyes and think of the last guy heralded as the most NFL ready and think about how that turned out.....That guy was Leinart.
Be ware "the most NFL ready" label.

Robinson + Reeves in the exact same scheme, with the exact same coaches, and almost the exact same players (they actually has Busing at FS) managed 217.9 yards per game(18th in the NFL) and 6.7 yards per pass attempt (9th in the NFL).

That sort of pass defense gets us into the playoffs. The playoffs are worth $10 million.

Falcons fans are not thrilled with DR thus far.

I don't think Reeves is on a team.

Last year was last year. We have no clue what they would have done if they were here this year.

From your link

You guys have to stop over-analyzing everything he does. There are going to be completed passes to the guy he's covering.

This is another week where we didn't give up a TD to any of their WR's, the longest catch was 19 yards, their leading receiver had 55 yards, and their QB's were 24/38 for 236 yards, 1 TD (to their RB), and 2 INT's.

If any of our DB's were playing bad, we would be giving up TD's. Short patterns have a high completion percentage. We have not given up any deep passes.

You guys act like the man he's covering is blowing it up with TD's and yards. If you think he has "sucked", you guys must not remember what suck really is.

The falcons only added robinson and drafted witherspoon, got rid of houston and have a top 5 defense this year. Robinson aint night train lane, but he's better than anything the texans have.

I don't think it's so much the $10 million. I think it's the fact that he wanted a long-term deal, which actually guaranteed him $23 million. Add that to the fact that his holdout created a hugely strained relationship with Texans brass, and he was a liability.

It is an option, it is an uncapped year and you could work out a reconstruction of the contract.

Anyone know? Bailey, Sheppard, Gamble, etc...

Even a good cover FS or dominant pass rusher would at least help some.

I'd be looking at trading players and/or picks, even a 1st, at this point. It's sad to say I miss Reeves, but I do. He wouldn't be doing any worse.

Him and Dunta are the only differences in our secondary. Please get him on the phone. Put KJ at nickle and let's look at that. Could not be any worse. And why is Molden even on this team?

I'd give up Daniels and a pick for Nnamdi Asomugha. Maybe it's just me, but I think we have some pretty good depth right now at TE. I think that Dressen and Casey can fill in his role, especially at the current level of play he's putting out. I know he's coming off a major injury, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Daniels was the only part of our offense that was working in the first half. I wish we could have gotten the ball to him more. It may be my mancrush talking, but I'd be devastated if we traded daniels.

Look, I really like the guy, but we are not going to get something for nothing. We are going to have to give up a good player in a trade. I just think that TE is pretty much the only position that we have decent depth at.

Raiders have a good TE in Miller so that probably wouldn't work. I wonder if a first rd pick would work though as they gave up their first rd pick in the Seymour (sp?) deal and asomaugha makes a lot of money. They could get a first rd pick and save some coin. It's doubtful though. If Bailey doesn't get a deal done with Den he might be available

I've been saying this for a while.

Owen is a good player, but I think we'd be ok or better off without him.

I think that Dreesen, Casey and Grahm may actually be better.

I think Casey is more athletic and has more big play potential, and I think Dreesen is a better blocker and he's healthier right now. Grahm is kind of unknown, but I think he could probably be just as good or better than OD as well..

But as others have said, the Raiders have Miller...Not sure they'd put a lot of Value in OD, but maybe they could use him as a in the slot a lot...Their receivers aren't exactly scary...

Forget the DBs, I'd be more interested in the pass rushers available for trade. The DBs, they're young, they're bad now but they will get better. The pass rush, well unless Nading wakes up tomorrow a better athlete and unless Ugunleye/Mark Anderson hop in a time machine to 2006, we're screwed here.

Eli didn't have a lot of time in the Pocket yesterday...He was hit a few times...

It's not like he was sitting back there scanning the field and picking us apart...

A lot of his passes came off three step drops...

The DB's are in waaaaaaaay worse shape than the D-line...JMO...

Thanks for the merger, I overlooked this thread and get annoyed seeing multiple threads of the exact same thing.

I'd honestly take over the contract, and give away a 1st and a 3rd right now for Asomugha. I doubt the Raiders are giving up on their season, but plug him in and our secondary drastically improves.

I believe that one of the bengals corners is a FA this off season. That along with a safety through the draft, and a Dlineman like Edwards who is a FA from minnesota should be a good offseason. But we all know that is not going to happen.

I would do a 2011 2nd and 2012 2nd for Asomugha and a 2011 3rd for Bailey. :gamer:

Then you just need a center fielder.

We can go ahead and give away our 3rd plus Slaton for Dawkins and Bailey. Then you have your center fielder too. Can you imagine? Dawkins, Bailey, Nmadi, and Pollard!

I am pretty sure Champ is going to be available too. Who better to teach our young guys?

I would settle for trading for a defensive scheme that works, and then see what players we need. I don't think one CB is would fix anything.

Hell we could have Aso, and Revis and not do ****.

Richard Smith is somewhere taking one of GW Bush "Miss me yet" photos....

I just threw up in the back of my mouth saying that guys name, but he might actually be an improvement than Frank.
