So, Coffee gets arrested for speeding without a license or registration and they find a loaded automatic pistol in the car cocked and ready to rock.

Guy's got issues. Glad we didn't draft him.

...what the hell happened? I thought this guy quit the NFL to become a pastor? Almost feel bad that the 9ers waisted a draft pick on him...almost.

C'mon guys, cut him a little slack. He must have been running late to a tent revival and dinner on the ground. :kitten:

It's not an automatic pistol, and as scary as they make it sound, I and damn near everyone I know carry more firepower around with me daily.

According to police in Fort Walton Beach, Florida ... 23-year-old Coffee was pulled over for speeding ... but cops quickly discovered that Glen's vehicle -- a 2008 Cadillac -- had no registration or insurance.

Because the vehicle was deemed "unlawful to be on the roadway," cops called for the Cadillac to be towed ... but first, they ran a quick search -- and found a "black 380 SIG Sauer automatic pistol."

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ ... "The pistol was recovered with the hammer 'cocked' to the rear. It was located in the center console ... readily accessible to Coffee."

Coffee was arrested and taken to a nearby station -- where he was booked for carrying a concealed firearm ... a 3rd degree felony.

Nothing about that pistol is automatic. Locked and loaded is the way to carry anyway, and that's not even illegal, if you've gone through the paperwork (which he appears not to, I guess). He basically did nothing illegal, insofar as the gun is concerned, except for perhaps not getting his CHL (which makes him a dumbass, but hey ...).

I'm not really that up on gun laws but I believe the way he was carrying it in the car was illegal under Florida law. IIRC, in Florida in a car, the gun must be encased or not readily accessible for immediate use or something like that.

If he had a CHL, that wouldn't be an issue. Here in TX, you don't need a CHL to carry locked and loaded in your vehicle.

So .... if I chamber a 79 with HE and I have a CHL I am good to go? Load me up bubba I have folks to see! :kitten: (yes, I know that doesn't fly)

Moral of the story: Know the firearms laws of the state you are in.

That's it right there. I just love how they sensationalize the reporting. It's a "black", "automatic" pistol, LOL. It's a freakin' .380. My cousin just bought a pink one to replace her .38 revolver. So if this was a pink pistol, I wonder how they would have reported it? And they obviously don't know the difference from automatic and semi-auto.

Having an automatic pistol might be fun, though. Inaccurate, but fun.

Didn't beretta make a model 92 with a fold down lip under the frame and a skeleton stock that had a full auto option?

*edit - it was the M93. It had 3 round burst.....

To be fair I've heard semi-automatic pistols referred to (granted erroneously) as "automatics" my entire life.

Moral of the story: Know the firearms laws of the state you are in.

Coffee was driving a 2008 Cadillac when he was initially pulled over for speeding. The car was later towed when he was unable to produce registration for the vehicle or proof of insurance.

We can add :

1)Don't speed if you don't have the registration for the vehicle you are driving.

2) Don't speed if you don't have proof of insurance.

3) Don't speed if you're illegally carrying a firearm.

4) Get a radar detector

I've heard of a story where a guy thought it was safe to play russian roulette with a gun because it was a semi-auto. He went first.
