Loudest NFL Stadium

Do we have the opportunity to be one of the loudest NFL Stadiums this weekend? Is there a record or do they measure decibel levels at NFL games?

In the 19-10 game the announcers said it was the loudest they had ever heard.

I know some college stadiums have been measured at crazy levels.

Let's literally blow the roof off the place Sunday.
 
Whilst watch the 49ers game last weekend, they claimed that it was the loudest NFL stadium on record.

Which surprised me quite a lot.

The MNF game vs the Saints? I guess towards the end it got to be a good game, Candlestick seems like a cool stadium.
 
I have heard Seattle is supposed to be loud....well when they were good.

They only bring in the decibel meter for games they think will be loud.

Having a closed roof this week will help a great deal
 
I think Guinness (not the beer) had their people out a few years ago to Kyle Field to measure crowd noise. That's Texas ATM, College Station... lol

As far as the NFL goes, or any team/stadium/game.... I would say this game against the Cowboys definitely has the chance to be one of the loudest. I feel like Reliant is set up well, the roof will be closed, we're coming off 2 awesome awesome wins, we're undefeated, we have huge huge playoff hopes, everyone is LOVING on our Texans right now, there will be a decent number of drunks and we're playing the gosh darn Cowboys!!
 
I don't know who currently holds the honor but that better change to Houston as of 12:01 am on Sunday Sept 26th 2010!
 
The loudest stadium I have ever heard was the Silverdome back when the Lions had Barry Sanders and weren't a walking punchline. I walked out of that place literally feeling like my ears were vibrating.

Rich Stadium (now Ralph Wilson) was also 'insane in the membrane' loud back in their glory years in the early 90s.
 
FedEx Field awe-fully loud this past Sunday in their game against the Texans. There were times I couldn't hear my wife who was seated next to me.
 
I think there were way too many Cowboys fans at Reliant yesterday to reach the decibels that y'all were hoping for. The Colts game sounded a lot louder via the tv.

DB, it was a lot louder vs. Indy.. Hard to be louder when 1/2 the place isn't yelling when the D was out....
 
I read it reached 117 decibels, eight below the pain threshold in the 2nd quarter according to the chronicle.

So yes it was very loud when the Texans still had a chance to win the game.

I've stayed away from the MB since the game until just now in large part because I was so pissed at how many Cowboy fans were at the stadium. Reliant is something like 90% season ticket holders. For the Cowboys to have that many fans there it means a lot of those ticket holders either sold their tickets or swapped to Cowboy fans for this game. Frankly if Houston fans can't own their own house then they should shut up about how bad Cowboy fans are. We had little if any home field advantage Sunday.
 
It was MUCH louder at the 19-10 game. Plus there were fewer Cowboys fans there in 2002. I assume most Texans fans didn't want to miss the history of the first game no matter how much they could have banked on their tickets.
 
Ya, I was at the game, wasn't that impressed with the noise level. Had to have been all the cockroaches staying quiet while the Texans were on D.

Seriously, the Indy game was the first time I'd ever heard it louder than 19-10. It took me 10 days to get my voice back.
 
According to this link, the loudest stadium in the NFL is Qwest Field (Seattle-home of the 12th man) followed by Arrowhead (Kansas City), Lambeau (Green Bay), Metrodome (Minnesota) and Gillette Stadium (New England).
 
Arrowhead is the loudest I've ever heard, followed by one season at home, then Reliant. I haven't been to Indy's new stadium yet, but the old digs were #4 for me.

Before I forget, I went to the Titans game at the new Meadowlands. Your stadium is MUCH better, but they do have one feature I want really bad -- LED screens everywhere. We watched them from the parking lot, too.
 
The Harris County Stadium.... I dunno, I remember something about the Dome being known
for some serious "crowd noise".

That's tied with the Vikings' home stadium — the Metrodome in Minneapolis — for most in the league.

Opponents also had 18 false start penalties in eight Titans home games last season, tied for tops in the league with visitors to the Texans' Reliant Stadium.

I didn't give enough credit to our fans but I was right about yours. I haven't ever heard your stadium with the roof closed and I don't want to either ;)

that game's tickets, when this team routinely lays eggs at home.
Two sides to every story.

Although I didn't sell my tickets. I can understand this sentiment.

Maybe years gone by, but last year their fans were horrible in terms of % of capacity of seats sold. Only Detroit, Jacksonville and Oakland were worse in % of capacity. The year before that they ranked 24th.
 
What's up with the Northwest?

Autzen will be rocking when Stanford goes up to face Oregon this Saturday night. I think that might be the loudest football stadium in the country. Pros or College.

Not to this one since that isn't the case. The Texans were 16-8 at home over the last three years.
