Worried?

I've been feeling pretty good about the team especially with the big win over the Colts. The problem I'm having now is, is the team mentally ready now? This could be one hell of a trap game for them and could lead the Skin's with something to prove after the "win" over dallas.

I keep thinking this is the Jets season opener part 2. If this team mans up and wins this game it'll be clear progress from last year.

Texans just have a way of scaring the hell out of me every game. Even if they're up 35 to 0 going into the 4th quarter, I know there is a way they could give that up.

You ain't the only one Andrew! I was too but, I have a feeling that this year we can be a little more comfortable watching the Texans!!!

Go Texans!!!

I'm not real worried about Sundays game from a letdown perspective. The reason is the respect Kubes has for old man Shanahan and what he probably preached all week. Along with I think the win last week moves the Texans mindset from "I think we can be a good team" to "i know we are a good team" mentality. That barrier with the Colts is broken for now and should make this team believe in themselves. If their attitude is truly different this year and they are determined to win and make the playoffs this game should be a win.

I'm thinking that last weeks win over the Colts did _something_ to the team, we ganked the Colts, the sky is the limit.

Just rewatching Sundays' game over-and-over helps me notice small
things that lacked on last year's team. When Schaub threw that interception
in the second quarter while the Texans were up 13-0, I was reminded how
that type of situation would ALWAYS set off a MASSIVE scoring run
from the Colts in each of the last four games we've played them.

The difference is, they scored off the turnover, and the Texans answered them
over and over again.

The one thing I noticed from last weeks game, was their attitude.

It was different. When a penalty (for whatever) - happened, they didn't let it bother them. Other things seemed to go the Texans way instead of against them. Can't put my finger on a specific item, but my son made the comment - wow, something is actually going our way for a change.

And all those hits on MR Late hit on the QB, didn't get any calls his way for a change.

I think it is a couple of things. I think the win against the Pats last year proved something to the Texans. I think the kids have learned a lot growing up together. I think Kubiak has also learned how to become a Head Coach. I think we have an offensive co-ordinator that Gary doen't have to mentor or watch over and can spend his time in more valuable ways.

That time-out on the Colts kick-off was priceless.

I'm always worried. It could be a scrimage against a high school team and I'd be worried. LOL

The Texans are a better team than last year, we'll find out soon enough if the demons of the past are gone.

I'm with Thorn. I want this team to do really well and I think they should do really well but that doesn't stop me from worrying over every minor detail.

Texan fans are similar to abused dogs in the way the team has treated them with there play on the field. I am on the optimistic side most of the time and I see a new team in a new year right now. We may lose, and then go in to Reliant and kick the crap out of the Cowboys and beat the Raiders the week after that. I want 3-1 at the worst for when Cushing comes back. If we go 4-0 I think we should be expecting our first playoff game in franchise history this year. It will be interesting to see what our team does against a 3-4 defense, but I have a feeling we will be able to run the ball. The Cowboys were able to get some push on the Skin's line and they were playing without two starters.

The Colts win means nothing in regards to the development of this team, unless we come out tomorrow and pick up a W. After the 'Skins performances last week, anything less than a win just wont do. I wasn't putting our season's hopes on winning against the Colts, but this game coming up, is a must win in my opinion. You can lose a few games against the top opposition, but to blemish your record with loses against the likes of Washington just won't do.

So, in contract to Steph's optimism... I'm optimistic, but still worried - I fail to see how any Texans fan can purge any resemblance of worry after some of the games we've seen this team play!

Go Texans! :fans:

This game is out super bowl!!!!

:tease: (I actually hate the saying

I am gun shy on this team right now.. I (we) have seen this team beat teams that they shouldn't have and lose to teams that we had no business losing to.

I am cautious on this game and I do think the Texans should win this one..

just so I can jix this .. Kubiak and Smith are trying to extend their record to 2-0 over Shanahan

however;(and as silly as it sounds) , I am VERY superstitious, but I will be wearing the same clothing (washed of course) as I did last week .. my white Texans t-shirt and blue shorts and my steel blue Texans hat that a friend of mine gave me

and dang it I can't throw the stupid shirt away! I must keep the precious!

Here's what stands out to me that suggests that "something" has happened to our Texans. Other than Matt Schaub and Jacoby being a bit off, the team was incredibly efficient. This is a well coached, well practiced football team. The confidence is there now and I don't see the staff having a down week from a preparation stand point. Basics like blocking and tackling seem to be completely under control. Last time I checked that was a winning combination.

I think the worst that can happen is we get our asses handed to us in the first half and we wake up at half time and we hand it right back to them to win the game!

If you're not worried about your team going into every game, then you're not a fan imo. I'm worried that there will be a letdown, but I'm hopeful that the coaching staff will prepare the players mentally to go up there and perform to the best of their ability.

I've been watching NFL (and AFL) Houston football since the late 60s. I've had my heart torn out to many times to not be nervous about every game.

I'll let my emotional guard down when the Texans win a Super Bowl. Until then, color me worried. It is what it is folks.

That said, what I'm expecting is a good old fashioned **** kicking on the Redskins and there's no reason why the Texans can't deliver that. The Redskins just aren't as good as us, and that's a fact. Jack. LOL

Like many here, I've experienced the ups and downs of being a sports fan of Houston teams. Once I thought it was a curse on the city, but I've come to the conclusion, the curse was with the owners of those teams.

As a pink soaper last year, I've made the decision to recommit myself to being a positive fan. Past failures are gone, and I won't allow those negative thoughts to come into my mind. This team has done away with the ghosts of the past. Not one player on this team was here from the beginning.

It's our year, lets bask in the success instead of wallowing in our past misery.

DISCLAIMER: (I make no promises I can maintain this attitude if we lose to the Sowboys or the Tits!) LOL

This is why most Houston fans who have watched the Texans & Oilers cough up games over the years have a natural reaction to foster doubt about our football team. It's almost worthy of being an officially recognized condition, Oileritis or something. Hopefully Schaub, Ryans, AJ, Williams, Foster and the rest of the gang continue to help squash that feeling and give us as Texans fans a "cure".

January 3, 1993 is when it started for me:rake:. September 12, 2010 has given me hope:logo:.

This is what I'm thinking, too. The Texans have a confidence I didn't see in previous years. The win against New England did wonders for this team. I know I was always worried going up against the Colts that something bad was going to happen. But the Texans matched them punch for punch in the 4th quarter; and I really liked how pissed off Mario was when the Colts scored late.

That won't happen again. It made me think of the game against Kansas City a few years ago when a Chief got under AJ's skin. It was a lesson well learned & opponents can't do that anymore. I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow & I'm expecting a win; but even if the Redskins win, I'm not worried about "bad things" happening anymore.

I get everybody's concern. This team has driven us crazy. I have some concerns, but I'm not going to worry too much and fret going into the game. It'll drive us crazy, and we have to stay positive (without being overconfident).

Right now, the only thing I'm stressing about is whether to toss a slab of ribs on the grill at home or go watch the game at Buffalo Wild Wings.

After watching my Oilers loose to a backup Bills QB, I've learned NOT to think a game is over until the ref blows the final whistle cause' you never know what's gonna happen.

I can safely say that the only time I felt sure that we were going to win last week was when Schaub kneeled for the second time.

There's no reason that we shouldn't beat the Redskins, we are a more talented team. But I will continue to worry until we are down to the final ticks

I was... I really was. However, I re-watched the Colts game again and feel a lot better. I think our offense won't go off for 200+ rushing yards and I don't think our passing game will be as bad. In other words, I see a much more balanced attack. Defensively, we'll give up some plays, but by the same token, McNabb and company aren't Manning and the Colts, either...

We win, 27-21. :D

Truthfully, there have been several games, where we thought (or at least I thought) this team had turned the corner, had matured into winners... then they drop a 4 game losing streak on us.

If we win, ala St Louis (which was a freak'n battle with what turned out to be the worst team in the NFL) I'll temper my enthusiasm.

This should be a blow out.

This should be along the lines of the 31-13 whup'n Kubiak put on Shanahan in 2007. Kubiak has a much better team than he did then, Shanahan was a bigger part of the team he had back then, though I'm not positive, I think that team was more talented as well.

you girly men just come by the tailgate to get your skirts. Maybe I should put some purfume in the piniata.

Reach Down and grab your sacs and repeat after me.

"I am a Texan Fan. My Team will Win this game."

I am so worried that we blow out the Redskins so bad that O gets to run the offence.
