The second UFL season debuts in a week, and the league's newest team looks the most like an NFL team of any of them.

The Omaha Nighthawks, with a roster compiled by former Broncos G.M. Ted Sundquist, have added more and more former NFL players to the roster. Earlier this week, former Colts and Bucs linebacker Cato June joined a squad that features quarterback Jeff Garcia, running backs Ahman Green and Maurice Clarett, cornerback Ricardo Colclough, defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek, receivers Robert Ferguson and Devard Darling, tackle George Foster, linebacker Morlon Greenwood, receiver David Kircus, tight end Jeb Putzier, safety Stuart Schweigert, linebacker Gary Stills, linebacker Nick Greisen, and defensive tackle Wendell Bryant.

Other new UFL arrivals with NFL experience include linebacker Edgerton Hartwell (Las Vegas), running backs Dominic Rhodes, Aveion Cason, and Maurice Hicks (Florida), quarterback Daunte Culpepper (Sacramento), and quarterback Josh McCown (Hartford).

One guy who'd have an interest in jumping to the UFL and getting some game reps is quarterback Pat White, who as we reported on Friday will sign with the Kansas City Royals. It's unclear whether any UFL team currently has interest.

It is nice seeing players getting another shot at proving themselves in the UFL. Many consider Garcia and Green to be "over-the-hill" but they could prove they have a few quality seasons left in the tank. Also, young players who never even got a chance in the NFL can showcase there talents in the UFL.

I'm really interested in this second season of the UFL. It looks like the league owners made the right choice in choosing Omaha as its first of many expansion teams. I've heard that they are already leading the league in season ticket sales (over 10k I believe) in a stadium that holds 21k.

They have a pretty nice logo and a great uni as well. I can't place my finger on it, but something about them makes me want to root for them this season...:D

You talking about the UFL in general? UFL games will start airing on September 24th on the Versus Channel and HDNet (not sure what date on HDNet). The season itself starts next week.

Last year I rooted for the Las Vegas Locos, how could you not like that team name. This year I think I am rooting for Omaha though I do like the logo and the players.

the UFL really does seem like a legitimate secondary league and a place for guys to further their career. love it.

Apparently Mark Cuban doesn't see the UFL as being a secondary league for long :D. Link

While I do admire his determination to become better than the NFL, I just hope he doesn't become the Donald Trump of this league and ends up killing the UFL in the process.

What I am hearing is that Portland will be the next expansion team followed by LA & San Antonio. Mark Cuban is interested in becoming the owner of the LA franchise, so that would probably spark an instant rivalry with San Antonio.

I'll be watching the CFL championship this Friday on NFLN, so watching the UFL on Saturday and the NFL on Sunday may be a bit much for me. I'll probably catch some UFL games as the season progresses.

If Green can play, I'll be ticked.

Didn't he have #37 knee and essentially decide to not play through the pain?

You guys should join the UFL.com Fantasy Pick'em (have to register first), they will be giving out weekly prizes (I think watches) and a grand prize which is a trip for 2 (tickets, travel, & accommodation) to the UFL Championship game. Since the UFL is still in its infancy and less than 50 people have joined this Pick'em League, the chances of you winning something are pretty good. You can join as many leagues as you want, or even create your own.

Also, this thread over at the UFLAccess forums is pretty interesting. It links to this article which talks about Warren Moon and how he is interested in managing & owning a team. Now that second link is talking about the CFL's Eskimos where I think Warren played, but in the section where he is quoted he doesn't name any specific team.

Warren Moon said:
“I've always had aspirations, not only for running a club but for owning a club,” said Moon. “I was always making steps toward it by keeping up with the game. I've had my eyes and ears open for 15 years and there have been a couple of opportunities as I've gone down the road. But it's just got to be the right combination of people and leadership.”

If Moon does want to own a team, his best chances are probably in the UFL, and it would be a win-win situation for both sides. The UFL is already in discussion with San Antonio about placing a UFL team there, and I think if Moon is the owner or the GM, that would give instant credibility to the team & the league in Texas. What do you guys think? San Antonio Oilers anyone? :D

Sounds like a Wikipedia page. That still doesn't tell me who he is.

Haha it is. Not really that much info on him, besides where he went to college and his short lived NFL career. He's on the lower spectrum of talent in the UFL, would be surprised if he gets another shot in the NFL.
