Vonta Leach

He is hands-down the best blocking fullback in the NFL. Probably one of the most unheralded and underrated players on the team. Go back and watch the game - that dude is a BEAST!

Isn't this the last year of his contract?

3/19/2007: Signed a four-year, $8 million contract. The deal includes $1.6 million guaranteed and $800,000 in incentives. 2009: $1.2 million, 2010: $1.45 million, 2011: Free Agent

They need to re-sign this man. Quickly.

that is why he is called the Hammer...I was suprised he didnt go let them know he hit them...I guess he only does that when he has the ball. i have seen him turn down open space for the opportunity to runover a defender. got to love it.

I had to do one too. :)

A funny moment involving Tha Beast. Leach came back to the huddle after one play and appeared to have a neck issue by attempting to stretch it out. He was grimacing a bit for sure. I told a buddy of mine that Leach was hurt and we both watched him the very next play in silence. On an inside run to the right Leach leads Foster by destroying the first to show his face in the hole.

We both started laughing and said "Naw, Leach is juuuuust fine".

I saw a couple of instances yesterday where after a play he was on his knee struggling to get up and thought he may be heading to the sideline. Each time he went back to the huddle and on the snap went right back to throwing his body into the mix.

We would not be denied yesterday as long as we held onto the ball.

Just goes to show that stats only tell part of the picture. You can't easily measure blocking effectiveness with a statistic, though knowledgeable fans know it's the difference between 500 yards of total offense and 200 yards of total offense whether it's blasting open holes for your backs or giving your QB time to throw.
