Quote of the Year

I kinda would like to track what the Texans are saying as we go through this very important year. This is my first submission, and one I was really glad to read...
"I think that's the name of the game this year,” right tackle Eric Winston said. “I think we've proven with everybody that we can play for 55 minutes with anybody, and probably better than most people. We've got to put it together for all 60 and for all year."

Link

I can deal with that. It's time to kick ass or be mediocre forever. And **** medicore. I want kick ass.

Yep! Me too! I want smash mouth football for 62 minutes Sunday!

I like what I'm hearing from Winston and all the other guys. I really wanna see it on the field Sunday.

Let's do it, baby! I love that attitude. Before clicking on this link, I totally expected something from Bernard Pollard though.

Every year the hype department works overtime to get us excited and make us believe this is our year. That this year will be the different one.

Maybe Im drinking the koolaid, but I really believe it this time.

Im submitting the following quote for hopeful future quote of the year:
"Im going to Disneyland!" - Matt Schaub

I would love to hear that. Can you imagine David Anderson at Disney Land, lol.

Did anyone watch the Saints bring home the bacon ?

The Saints LG,C,RG were beating the Vikings vaunted run stoppers . That Carl Nicks is a man . He was knocking Pat Williams out of the way with ease . In the end , they looked like the Cowboys of the 90's . You know their going to kill the clock and you can't stop them .

It's no wonder Amobi got blasted , Williams goes 350 and Nicks had no trouble .

This is what I like to see from team , killer instinct . I think Payton set the Vikings up because he passed the first half and made them russ the passer . The second half it was 4 yards and a cloud of turf dust . Kubiak might try that , wear em down and hammer them.

It was still 14 to 9 and if Farve had played throughout training camp, the Viking most likely would have won that game. My quote comes from after tomorrows game

Kubiak "That kid Foster is a special player". Im thinking Foster will have a big game tomorrow.

The Saints killed the clock and Favre sat and watched .

Saints - 3rd quarter TOP = 10.02 from 15 min

Saints 4th TOP = 11.05 from 15 min

I notice it's a lot of the veterans of this young team who are speaking out. Guys like Winston and Demeco, AJ, Schaub, Mario sometimes...leadership and identity were two big problems when Kubiak took over. Now it seems we have guys who are respected around the league and in the locker room as well as a clear identities on offense AND defense. Offense is a juggernaut pass offense with little run capability (that looked to be at least a competent secondary role to the pass this preseason) and defense is a super athletic, aggressive unit that can be defeated.

I was with you until the end...not sure if that's what you meant to type.
At least I don't believe that to be true.

Go Texans!!:texflag:

Their guards are unbelievable freaks. I haven't seen the Williams Wall pushed around that much ever. Looked like men amongst boys.

As heard on a san antonio radio station this morning, "did you hear that pssshh, that is the tires busting the Texans bandwagon of all the people jumping on board"

Which is amazing considering that Matt Schaub's stat line from yesterday is a dead ringer for one of VY's "gems"

And if VY would've put up numbers like Matt Schaub's yesterday and won, they would've said ' all he does is win though'

Back to the thread title...and with all due respect to the OP...this is the quote of the year....

Colts cornerback Kelvin Hayden said:
“They just kept pounding, kept pounding us until we broke,”

Just checked my old haunt, the TrekBBS. They have a sports and fitness forum on the site, and in the 2010 NFL thread there is this about the Texans:

I'm not sure why the sports world is surprised at this (although I did expect Indianapolis to beat them). Gary Kubiak has built one hell of a football team down there.

Bring 'em on!! We'll make room for any and all new fans of the Houston Texans! :texflag:

"It's time to call 9-1-1," Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Thursday. "It's emergency, it's time to get things going."

"One week they run for 300 yards and the next week they throw for 500," Phillips said. "If you back off -- basically, that's what we did in preseason -- they can just tear you up in the running game. If you come after they can throw it. I'm impressed."

Against Washington, Johnson stole the show, catching 12 passes for 158 yards despite missing some time because of an ankle injury. Bum wheel and all, he managed to make a leaping catch in the end zone on a fourth-down heave with about 2 minutes left. That touchdown tied the game, leading to a win in overtime.

"He is a bad man," Dallas receiver Dez Bryant said in awe.
