X marks the spot: Linebacker Xavier Adibi made his preseason debut after missing several weeks with a groin injury. He finished with four tackles.
"It looked impressive, what (Adibi) did," Kubiak said. "I thought he played pretty good. I wanted him to play 25-30 snaps. We'll go see where he's at. What I thought I saw was pretty good, so that's nice that we have that option again."
Adibi is one of the leading candidates to start at strongside linebacker during Cushing's suspension.
"There's definitely a chance," Kubiak said. "He was option one when we started camp. He missed camp; there's nothing you can do about that. Can he still be the guy? Yes, he can."
Cushing. D-Ryans and Cush are the nickel LBsI don't think this will be as big of an issue against the Colts as I see us playing Nickel most of the game.
I haven't noticed, but who has been getting the LB reps in Nickel next to Demeco? Diles?
Yeah I know that Cush has been the other LB in Nickel, but they haven't played anyone else there in the pre-season?Cushing. D-Ryans and Cush are the nickel LBs
Ride him until he gets injured. Hopefully that gives us a little more time to get Sharpton up to speed.4 those who picked Adibi do you actually beleive he can stay healthy four games?
Sharpton is the next best LB on this team & should be inserted regardless of position. He is always around the ball, very productive, consistant & brings starter type intangibles. Adibi is too inconsistant, Bentley doesn't have the speed anymore & will get toasted by Manning.
Everyone is getting too hung up with position. Bottom line put your best LB's in regardless where they line up. I really would like to see DeMeco get a shot to play some SAM & apply his coverage & pass rushing skills, which would be a much better match-up against Peyton. Let Sharpton stay home & do the ditry work inside, plug the holes & take responsiblity for the middle of the field, his special skill is abiltiy to shed, avoid trash inside with a nose for the ball in space.
I'd like to see Sharpton play up field more.I've been a pretty big Sharpton proponent but I voted for Adibi.
I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of rotation to get Sharpton some experience but get Adibi and Bentley in there on a situational basis.
Eventually, I think Sharpton surpasses Adibi (and possibly Diles) but I don't think he's quite there, yet.
I don't know...4 those who picked Adibi do you actually believe he can stay healthy four games?
the only thing Adibi has proven is that he can't stay healthy. It remains to be seen if he ever lives up to his potential, but one thing he is not is instinctive. this is Adibi 3rd season, in two seasons he has a combined total of 46 tackles, he was supposed to be the WILL but 7th rd. Zach Diles beat him out who by the way has 133 tackles so far even after missing half a season with a broken leg. Meanwhile all Sharpton has done is proven he is one of the Texans most dependable, reliable tacklers leading the team with 17 pre-season alone. I'm sure he will struggle against Manning in his first meeting, so did Cushing point being he is the Texans best option has proven track record despite short sample size & will be a stablizing force if given the opportunity.I don't know...
I didn't know if Schaub could stay healthy all year either, but that didn't mean I wanted Sage to start.
Whoever the Texans choose, I hope they go with the best option and not make these type of decisions due to injury concerns.
Heck, if they go with Adibi, and he goes down, just go on to the next man in line.
I disagree that Sharpton has proven anything. If we were to use pre-season and camp as a barometer Jacoby Jones would have been ordained the #2 reciever years ago. Frank Okam would be a part of the regular rotation and Vernand Morency would have never been let go.the only thing Adibi has proven is that he can't stay healthy. Still got time, but Xavier looked good last night. Of course he is fresher. X has always been option #1. He is our guy if healthy. Otherwise Kevin. Sharpton has been working there too.
in John Harris famous words "watch the tape bro" Sharpton is always around the ball, half the time Adibi is in transition, by then its too late but when he doesn't read & just react Adibi does make some highlight reel hits. Also key word in Kubiak statement "if he can stay healthy." which is something I brought up in previous post "4 those who picked Adibi do you actually beleive he can stay healthy four games?"I disagree that Sharpton has proven anything. I don't know why you are saying Adibi isn't instinctive...Can you point to anything specific?
And I'm not surprised Sharpton leads the team with 17 tackles as he has played more than any other LB we have. I'm not impressed by his 17 tackles. I am impressed with some things that he has done though.
I have not seen him play the SAM so I am not sure how he handles be moved over there. If he played SAM last night I didn't notice...
I would think that if they were going to move him over there they would have given him a look last night.
If they start Sharpton great. I'm not bashing him...I think he's going to be a good player for us. But I don't see that with the way Adibi played last night. They were both in the line-up together and Adibi was the one who stood out.
