Seth Wickersham picks Houston as the AFC champs!

Wow, we're a trendy pick again this year, despite our ridiculous schedule. I'd say a good portion have us at least in the playoffs

we are really not that much of a trendy pick

everyone is saying the colts are winning the AFCS no ifs and or butts about it its already locked

and the Pats Ravens and Jets will all be super badass thats all im hearing

We play essentially the same schedule as the rest of the AFC South, so if you think that we're better than the Colts, then the schedule is really immaterial.

I was actually being sarcastic. I can't believe some people get so excited about what some pundit says.

This.

Talking heads don't know anymore than we do (some probably know less), they are just throwing out their opinions same as us.

Packer - Texans Super Bowl in Jerry World. Texans have beat them before in the "Frozen Tundra that is Lambau Field"

I likey.....

I was at that game. Froze my butt off, but had a great time. Packer fans are great hosts.

Also, that game was the return of Matt Schaub, and I didn't think it was a good idea to bring him back when the temperature was -10 or so at game time. But, he rocked and rolled.

I like the Packers a lot this year, but I am a little surprised that every one of these guys picked them to go to the Super Bowl. At least if they are all picking the Packers to go to Jerry's World, that means nobody is picking the Cowboys to go.

I've got the Packers losing the Super Bowl to that lil'ole club from Houston.

ESPN Expert's Picks

Of the ESPN "experts", 8 of them pick the Packers for the SB, 4 of them the Cowboys, and then one each go for the Niners, Giants, and Saints.

I really don't see the Niners or Giants making it to the SB and I'm surprised no one chose the Vikings.

Colts paper doesn't think so and are talking bigger plans in the AFC south

Another sweep for the Colts in the AFC South?

Here in Indianapolis, we all tend to look at the Colts through rose-colored glasses. We think they’re great, think they’re unbeatable and think they’re absolutely the best team in the NFL.

Star assistant sports editor Tom Brew is convinced the Colts will dominate the AFC South again on their way to another Super Bowl. Since he couldn’t find anyone to argue with in Indy, he sought out Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean, Jaguars beat writer Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union and Paul Kuharsky, AFC South blogger at ESPN.com. They had lots of laughs at their virtual roundtable, and lots of disagreements:

kind of funny that NO Houston reporter was on this and they went with AFC south blogger for BSPN

but there was some love I guess.. Lord I am tired of the talking and potential that the Texans have , THEY NEED TO DO IT ON THE FIELD

Wyatt: Not so fast, Tom. I suspect the Colts will be better than last year. The problem is the teams behind them have improved as well. The Colts might pull off a 13-3 season this fall, but two of those losses will come in the division. Colts fans won't know what to do with themselves when their team loses the season opener in Houston. Don't rule out an "L" in Nashville, either.

Brew: Yeah, I know the Texans are looking at this opener as the biggest game in franchise history. But I still can't buy into them completely, especially with their best defensive player (Brian Cushing) out for four weeks and Peyton Manning having months to prepare for them. You know he hasn't been worried about preseason games. It's all about Game 1.

Wyatt: The Texans have been underachievers over the years, but this is the year they get over the hump.

Brew: About the playoffs. There are too many other good teams in the AFC East and AFC North for anyone but the Colts to make the playoffs from the AFC South.

Wyatt: That's one way to look at it. Another is those teams will beat each other up. The Texans will be there.

Kuharsky: I'm not feeling good about the Texans or the Titans as a playoff team. But as I work on my predictions file, I see one wild card from the North and am not finding a team to love for the sixth spot, either.

I want to destroy the Colts. I really do. I want to shut all those guys up although there was one guy that did like the Texans, but still. Destroy the Colts. And the rest of the AFC South. And the NFC East. And the AFC West. Just pollardize everybody.

Lord knows I respect the Colts, and what they've done since the inception of the AFC South. But I truly believe they are going to struggle this year. As I've mentioned, their schedule is identical to ours, with the exception of the Baltimore & Jets game. Instead they play the Patriots, and the Bengals.

I don't see them going 13-3 this year, & I doubt they'll get their regular 12 wins.

I'm going against the grain here, but I still believe the AFC South is the toughest division in football, from top to bottom. & it's the Colts superiority that is the reason for it. The Jags play the Colts tough, the Titans play the Colts tough, and we play the Colts tough. That's six games that they've always "found a way" to win. But they'll also be playing the NFC East, which should provide for some good games. San Diego isn't going to make it easy for them, neither will the Patriots or the Bengals.

I think 11 games will take the division, and we'll probably be 10-5 going into Jacksonville January 2nd. If we win, we'll take the division, if we lose, we're watching the post season on TV... again.

Fantastic!

Too bad i've never heard of this guy until now.......

Oh I remember him. The last time he even noticed the Texans was when HWWNBN left for Carolina...

LINK

Don't think, just throw

David Carr got beat up, put down and thrown out of Houston. But to find success in Carolina, he really needs to get out of his head, writes Seth Wickersham.

Edit:
oh and he did write this piece about Okoye turning 21

Agree. I think Indy is due for an off year. I know that Peyton is Superman, but, even a one man show can have kinks every now and then. They had a LOT of close calls last year. They won a few games they surely should have lost.

I've been expecting Indy to fall off since Marvin left. At this point I'm not going to believe it till I see it.

I thought that last year. And the year before. And the year before that. You get the idea. If the Texans are gonna win this division, they need to TAKE it, not hope for an off year from the Colts.

Brian Cushing may be hour highest profile defensive player, but he's not yet
our BEST defensive player. He needs to do it a couple more years before
he's ahead of Demeco and Mario.

Defensively, the Texans will be fine. Just like they were fine on both
sides of the ball the last FOUR TIMES this team played. All that's left
to do, is have the collective nads to FINISH THE DAMN GAME!

Agreed, 100%

You're right, but he's the only one Paul Kuharsky bothers to write no-value-added sarcasmo-journalism hit pieces about...and the only one he weeps into his pillow about when his dreamboat ignores him. Witness this Kuharsky tweet:

Doesn't appear I will speak to Brian Cushing while visiting #Texans. Seems to be off limits. His doc is not talking either. #NFL

It's OK, Paul. We've all had crushes. He might notice your new outfit next time. Sometimes when boys are mean to you it's because they really like you.

I always thought Kuharsky did a good job with the Texans. He was usually complimentary but realistic.

Wickersham is on the panel of ESPN "experts" that predict the weekly games during the season at ESPN.com. He frequently picks upsets which if correct, make him look like the smartest guy in the room and if wrong, make him look like a dumba$$. Mortensen, Hoge, Jaws and Schefter usually have a better win% than he does. So, he's not afraid to go out on a limb but he frequently falls on his face. As a Texan fan, I hope he is right on this one...

Bro, dont be such a cynic. The point on posting this one was to show the exposure and respect the Houston Texans are getting. They have grown from the leagues door mat to where they are today.

Thought some people would like to see it. I think we all know that guys like that know about as much as we do but like I said, exposure, exposure, exposure!

Plus, last time I checked, I thought thats what this message board was all about? Anything and everything related to Texans football.

I get what you are saying. But I value your opinion more than that guys. I don't care for their respect, I watch this team, I follow this team, I love this team.

I've been through all the ridicule, the taunting, the whatever, I'm numb to all that now.

As long as you believe, and I believe, I've got all I need.

Don't need to sound trumpets when some dipweed believes.

Difference here, I'm not really expecting them to fall. I expect them to lose one more game than they usually do, 11-5.
