Red Turf at Eastern Washington

This and that blue field in Idaho are just ridiculous. I can't imagine what sort of fit would be thrown if a professional team tried to do something as stupid as this.

No man, the blue-turf is a thing of beauty, while the red-stuff is hideous ! And you gotta give the guys in Boise points for origionality. Not so much
in Cheney.

It's an unfair advantage to the home team because they are used to the color and they blend in more. It doesn't belong in competitive sports at all. If you want your school's field to be the same color as your jerseys, then make your school color grass green. As an NCAA football fan, I will never take Boise State seriously as a football program until that is changed, and I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps them from getting an invite to BCS conferences.

Unimpressed as you may be, I suspect that in recent years some other fans at serious NCAA football programs like Oklahoma & TCU are by Boise State's ability to compete on any field, home or away, no matter the hue.

Bet the passing numbers are significantly worse there than anywhere with a regular field. And red, being such a vivid, angry color...I bet some of that anger BLEEDS into the play....not that you'll be able to tell.

This looks like friggin Dr. Suess football.

There are going to be some angry, drunk ass people at their games...not a good combo at all.

I made the same comment in another thread that I didn't take them seriously either for the same reason. That doesn't mean I am denying they are a good team, it's just that football is played on green grass or turf. To me it's a stupid gimmick and I can't even watch them if they are playing at home.

I am surprised the NCAA doesn't have some sort of rule against this silliness.

Just get a green grass field already and enjoy having a great football program is all I am trying to say.

The drunks are going to be tossing their cookies. I think I would get sick looking at that thing for 3 hours even without drinking.

What's next? A purple field???

Oh wait!!!

BATON ROUGE -- With the National L Club Spring game complete, the LSU Athletic Department has begun preparations to install purple field turf in historic Tiger Stadium in time for the 2010 home opener against Mississippi State.

"It's now time to expand the traditions that surround our football program," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "LSU is going to take the lead in what we think will become the wave of the future and that's field turf in the colors of your school. The installation of the purple field turf will add to the excitement of a Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium and this team will enjoy the opportunity to play on what will be the finest surface in football."

This is no doubt. I played at Arkansas State and we played there. Our QB would throw to open recievers only to have the field pic him off and take it to the house. They are like little blue ninjas out there.

Haha, it looks ridiculous. I might pay it a visit for a game though, as its only a few hours drive from where I am.

What colouring is next though?

An orange field for UT?
