I thought it might be cool if i brougt up a previous thread so people can see I'm not thinking the sky is falling. Comments on New Orleans game is in blue.

QBs - Matt looked like he's ready to make his mark in the NFL. Orlovsky....did good by not turning over the ball.

I think Orlovsky is doing better and I was glad to finally witness him throwing a TD pass. As our first team was out there, the only thing that I could say positive is that I honestly believe that so long as Matt is playing like he is and he's playing on our team, we always are in the game.

WR- AJ is worth his money. Jacoby looks like he's getting serious about becoming a WR. Walter is steady. Dickerson is going to be a nice addition. I still think Andre Davis has a spot on the team.

AJ showed toughness (what else is new). Jacoby is really trying to become a star in this league. Walter again was reliable. Don't know where Andre Davis has been but based on some of the returning skills I saw yesterday, if he doesn't see the field he will not see the roster. David Anderson had a small nice game.

OL- Interior suprised me a little. Brown and Winston did a nice job. Studdard and Meyers got to get better. The OLine looked good with Schaub in.
I think our Oline settled down after the sack, Arian Foster had a good TD because of the first team. Our second team is showing why they are second team. We didn't control the LOS in this game though.

RBs- Foster's ready. Slaton....needs to hold the ball still. With Tate's injury, I'm thinking we need to search for a big back because Henry is really looking soft. JJ may be a nice surprise.

I'm not freaking out on Arian's fumble. He still looked good. Slaton just doesn't have that burst he used to. I agree that the OL wasn't opening many holes but some of them were holes he used to rocket through and he just doesn't do that anymore. If PJ Hill or that Ivory guy get cut, we need to give them a call. Too bad JJ didn't get much of a chance.

DL- I'm glad to see Mario looking more active. Barwin was part of a turnover, Okoye had some nice plays and was responsible for Mario's second sack. Cody was looking like he got stood up but I'm not sure that was part of the scheme. Antonio is getting pressure. I can see why Kubiak is gaga for Mitchell (almost got a sack.)

My theory on talking crap about Mario will get him to play still stands. He had a game where he did small things well though. Our DL is waaay to inconsistent and I fear our D will only go as far as they go. Okoye now looks like the rest of the DT but that's not a compliment to the rest of the DT's. There should be absolutely no way that Reggie Bush should cram the ball in between the tackles and run it down your throat like Eddie George.

LBs- Brian Cushing doesn't need any PEDs. Demeco is the leader of the defense. Bing, Diles, and Sharpton (especially Sharpton) had really good games. Adibi is on his way out.

Too me, probably the most disappointing of all units yesterday. Missed, tackles, getting driven off the ball, and kind of looking tired or like a unit that was talked about so well last week they thought they could just show up.

Secondary - Our youngs CBs were very good. Nice to see our CBs line up directly in front of the receiver and not 15 yards off (Dunta). Quin, is a tackler. His named wasn't mentioned alot but Mccain had a very good game. Pollard set the tone, Wilson established himself and Nolan is going to be nice.

Despite the yardage given up in the air, I was still comfortable with our young corners. They were having to run support and our DL just wasn't controlling the LOS to help them cover. Kareem Jackson had a good play on a long pass to Colston but still showed he's a rookie.

ST - Holliday gave me no reason to cut Andre Davis. Kickers made their kicks and our punter had some nice ones.

As stated before, Holliday is giving me no reason to cut Andre Davis and after seeing Jacoby, Slaton, Johnson, Mcmannis all handle kicks I don't believ Holliday has a place on this team. He's not worth cutting Andre Davis, Chris Henry, Jeremiah Johnson etc.... just to make room for him. I think Brown is going to win that job. That Rackers doinker 51 yarder and his line drive to the 20 on a kickoff, scare me a bit. Kris Brown's kicks are coming right up the middle right now.

Coaching- Frank Bush has this defense playing fast. I can't remember our defense not looking so vanilla in preseason. I liked our offensive calls. I think the run game is going to have more wrinkles this season.
Frank Bush didn't have this team prepared. Our defense looked like the old Vanilla Defense. Our offensive play calls were okay but we couldn't hold on to the ball and we had bad penalties to keep us from having a good offensive game. Nice to see us run it in for a TD in the RedZone.
Overall: I came away seeing how deep our team is and I even noticed that Kubiak does less on the sidelines because the team seems to manage itself through the leadership and almost as if the coaches are now in place.

Last night I came away with seeing a team that looked like it was very tired. All I kept thinking was that we are still an inconsistent team and I guess what bothered me the most was seeing a team shove the ball down our throats up the middle. I thought if we could at the very least trade blows with NO's first teamers we may be able to beat The Colts. Now I'm prepared of a 0-1 start after losing the whole game to Indy in the 4th quarter. Unless they show me something different, I'm also prepared for a 9-7 inconsistent team. There should've been no reason this team looked so flat. Thing is I can't blame the coaches because Gary looked pretty ticked.

Very good writeup. I agree with everything you said from both games. Rep your way!

That was an excellent analysis of the two games, and I agree with virtually everything you said.

Eric Winston's interview proved me right. Ugh! If that's true, then basically what he is saying is that this team will shut it down if it wants to. That ticks me off.

Dallas game in red

Still looking like the strength of our team. Looking at Romo arguing with players, I kept thinking how Schaub has so much command of that offense that noone dares to tell him anything. Orlovsky led a good drive.
WR- AJ is worth his money. Jacoby looks like he's getting serious about becoming a WR. Walter is steady. Dickerson is going to be a nice addition. I still think Andre Davis has a spot on the team.

Don't know where Andre Davis has been but based on some of the returning skills I saw yesterday, if he doesn't see the field he will not see the roster. David Anderson had a small nice game.

My Dallas friends all got real quiet when they saw him playing big brother with Newman. You knew the ball was going to him and nothing could stop him. Jacoby is ready. Even in the Saints game he was making big plays. I really didn't see anyone making any other plays than those two. Waler had a nice catch as soon as I said that we haven't heard his name.

I think we found our unit. This combination worked real well yesterday and they all were able to run and pass block. They have to get better in the redzone though. Meyers killed our 3rd drive with that holding penalty.

RBs- Foster's ready. Slaton....needs to hold the ball still. With Tate's injury, I'm thinking we need to search for a big back because Henry is really looking soft. JJ may be a nice surprise.

Arian has run well against some really good defenses in the Saints and Dallas. My cowboy friends were saying "why can't we stop this guy and only one Cowboy fan who is more of a college fan said that is because his name is Arian Foster and the league is about to find out about him.
I don't know what the deal is with Slaton but now JJ is knocking on his door. Chris Henry makes me want to look for other options. Not that he is doing horrific but he just hasn't made any plays with the time he got.

DL- I'm glad to see Mario looking more active. Barwin was part of a turnover, Okoye had some nice plays and was responsible for Mario's second sack. The defensive line looked like they did earlier this preseason. Great to see them come back. I'm hoping they see that every week they got to put this kind of performance in because when they do our DBs look awesome. Glad to see Okoye get a sack, Barwin also was in on one. Antonio was scaring Dallas. Mitchell needs to start, Sheppard did good with the time he got. Those are the guys we need to contribute week in and week out.
LBs- Brian Cushing doesn't need any PEDs. Demeco is the leader of the defense. Bing, Diles, and Sharpton (especially Sharpton) had really good games. Adibi is on his way out.

When the Dline plays like they did yesterday our LBs get this rush out of it and our intensity level starts to kick up. They all played like they should and were making tackles alot better.

Secondary - Our youngs CBs were very good. Nice to see our CBs line up directly in front of the receiver and not 15 yards off (Dunta). Quin, is a tackler. 3 preseason games have gone by and I'm still feeling comfortable with all of them. I honestly believe that Jerry's dollars played a role in Quin's holding penalties. We only heard Kareem Jackson's name called twice and one of those was an INT return. Pollard was bringing the wood man. My Dad kept saying "Wow we play up on the receivers now and we don't give up 10 yards a reception. Who would've thought"

ST - Holliday gave me no reason to cut Andre Davis. Kickers made their kicks and our punter had some nice ones.

That Rackers doinker 51 yarder and his line drive to the 20 on a kickoff, scare me a bit. Kris Brown's kicks are coming right up the middle right now.

I'm getting nervous about our coverage team. Too many long returns. Kickoffs looked better. Kris is looking focused. Too bad he's injured but after I saw the tackle Rackers made, I can see he really wants to win the job. Kris made a good tackle but Rackers made his down field with the troops. Jacoby is the punt returner enough said. Now that this is an entire preseason and no Andre Davis, I know he's gone because we feel we got more people to handle the receiving and KR duties.

Coaching- Frank Bush has this defense playing fast. I can't remember our defense not looking so vanilla in preseason. I liked our offensive calls. I think the run game is going to have more wrinkles this season.

I'm proud of Kubiak. He made his point clear with the team when he made them all watch film together. Don't know if he does this in previous seasons until week 12 or something. Kudos to him and if we come out with a good season, I think we can come back to this moment.
Overall: I came away seeing how deep our team is and I even noticed that Kubiak does less on the sidelines because the team seems to manage itself through the leadership and almost as if the coaches are now in place.

As happy as I was to see us win, I was more happy to see us answer the call when just about everyone in Houston and all other Texan fans were questioning our team's heart. Can they do it again though?
Also as happy as I was, I was stilll left a little disappointed that we entered the RedZone five times after the Jacoby TD and only came out of there with one TD. That statistic has scared me that things haven't changed for us. Inability to score TDs in the RedZone is what caused us at least anywhere from two to three games last season. After we went up 10 nothing I wanted to see us do better here and we only delivered once. If our D can play like they did yesterday then maybe we can afford that but I don't want to count on that. The D did a great job of either stopping Dallas or capitalizing on their mistakes. Indy is going to be perfect on offense and we will need to be also.

Go Texans!
Eric Winston's interview proved me right. Ugh! If that's true, then basically what he is saying is that this team will shut it down if it wants to. That ticks me off.
I still think that's what he meant. Nobody wants to think that way, though.

I think we have guys who say "If we want to take some time off, we will. Don't worry. We won't always do that." And the thought of that ticks me off, too, El Tejano.

It's as if they all pretty much agreed (on defense, and on the OL at least) that they would sandbag it in the Saints game and then come out strong for the Cowboys game. Only Schaub and the RB/WR/TE crew didn't get the memo because they all looked like they were honestly trying out there.

Oh well. I guess we'll never know and just have to trust that this was a one-time deal. Because I can't imagine them doing this in the reg season. They have no room to do so.
