So, at Texans Bull Blog, we will be running a column after every Kubiak monday presser, attempting to decipher what he is/isn't saying. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I have gotten pretty good at reading him. Plus, it's just kind of fun to do. So, when I see him speaking to the media for 5+ minutes, I know he's got some stuff to say... even if he isn't exactly saying it.

Here is Coach-speak volume II from today's practices:
Kubiak's secret thoughts!

To check our credibility, here's Volume I of Coach-Speak (pretty accurate):

"Fortunately, Chris Henry and Arian Foster are performing so well that I have an opportunity to ride this rookie and see how he responds. "
****
I like it.

Dale,

Keep 'em coming. That's entertaining reading and probably damn accurate! Now looking forward to Mondays.

BTW, I x-ed outta ths rss feed and the first paragraph is readable now.

Thanks for the translation.

Fun to read but think Kubiak got just what he expected in T.Holliday. Also, I think the Oline improves after Gary settles on the starters. He is moving Smith in and around as well as Briesel trying to get best 5. If this line is not ready by game one, Mr. McNair needs to have a closed door with Smith and Kubiak.

Was it yesterday that Kubiak said the two guard positions are still wide open?

Yes.

And that surprised me because I thought Caldwell had taken over RG. They've been talking about the line having some issues in TC and I guess the shakeup could me more extensive than I thought.

So, the starters this Saturday, will they get the nod for the season?

Kubiak stated that nobody has done enough to take a starting position and the two starters haven't done enough to keep someone from taking their starting positions. Then I read an interview with Benton praising Caldwell and how he's improved from last season. So.....who friggin knows

The coaches probably want to see them in live action before they decide on the starters for the season.

They probably want to see how much Caldwell and Studdard had improved from last year.
It would give time to Smith to mesh with the rest of the guy.
It will also gives Brisiel time to heal.
Above all, it would keep them all hungry! JMO.
