Peyton's blind side may have gotten blinder

Not much details, but looks like another ankle injury. Even if this only turns into a "nagging" injury, it certainly wouldn't bode well for a 305# LT's mobility, or a QB's piece of mind.

LT Charlie Johnson Colts offensive linemen Charlie Johnson and Andy Alleman left Friday afternoon's practice on golf carts after suffering undisclosed injuries.

Johnson, the team's starting left tackle, hurt his right foot. He walked off the field gingerly before being taken away.

Alleman, a free agent guard in his fourth year out of Akron, was on all fours for several minutes before being carted off.

The Colts say no details will be available about the injuries until Saturday.

The Colts will conclude their first week of training camp with a mock game on Saturday.

It will feature a unique scoring system that awards various point totals for exceptional offensive and defensive plays.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell plans to attend.

i never root for injuries, but i can't say i'm too upset by this. especially if he's out for week one.

Yeah, put Mitchell on him and watch Peyton take a dive to avoid the hit.:fans:

This just in..... as a result of the injuries to Peyton Manning's offensive line the Texans will now have to start their week 1 game vs. Peyton Mannin..uh...Indianapolis Colts with two pass interference penalties and a roughing the passer penalty. The Colts will start at The Texans 30 yard line.

No wishing on player injuries, but with Peyton's O line getting weaker, and Our D line Maybe getting stronger this could be very, very good for us!

I just saw that ^ story. Saturday definitely won't be playing week 1 against us, which certainly helps our chances. Although, given his age I wouldn't blame him if he retires after this. He's 35 and was considering retirement this offseason.

According to the ESPN roster, Saturday is one of two Centers on the team. The Colts recently swapped one guy out for an undrafted free agent rookie that was waived by the Seahawks:

The Indianapolis Colts are shuffling the personnel along their offensive line.

The team was awarded rookie guard/center Adrian Martinez, who had been waived by the Seattle Seahawks, according to agent Brett Tessler. He takes the roster spot previously occupied by Andy Alleman, who was waived according the National Football Post.

Alleman was one of the Colts’ few offseason free-agent acquisitions. He hurt his back in Friday’s practice.

I am not sure it is definite that he will miss the wk 1 game, but it would be nice for our side if he did.

They say he's out up to 6 weeks, and we are 31 days from our first game, so he needs a very speedy recovery to be there on Sept 12th. Not to mention, he would need to be back before that to get some workouts with the team.

:hurrah: That means they will go with an UDFA rookie at center? :woot2:

Well, I think the UDFA center is just for depth right now. Your article mentioned one of the guards taking snaps at C.

So when third-year center Jamey Richard lined up with the Colts' starters Wednesday morning, it looked strange.

Richard has made seven career NFL starts, four at center -- all in place of Saturday in 2008. Though he hasn't started a game since November 2008, Richard insists he's ready.

"I have the responsibility of making those [blocking] calls," he said. "That's put on the center, and that's me. It's just something you've got to learn."

Ok...here is the plan put the lbs and the whole d-line on the blind side and blitz until some one gets a real good hit on Peyton. I know I know the football coaches will say he will audible to a running play or throw where are defense isnt and I would say youre right. I just want Peyton to get a real hard hit...something that sends a message..that or give the rookie LT a heart attack as our defense comes at him.

It is time the Texans think outside the box...because Peyton rules the present one.

Before anyone gets too excited about this possibility/probability, please note that since the Texans have existed, Saturday has missed 6 starts (4 in 2008, and 2 in 2004). In those games, the Colts are 5-1, so it's not exactly like he's been a irreplaceable cog in the machine that is the Colts offense.

Now if Peyton goes down (Not that I would ever wish for something like that ), then we have a game-changer on our hands.
