When will Cushing get demoted?

How long will Cushing keep running with the Ones? Or to ask it another way, when will his replacement for the first month of the season start running with the Ones? And who do you guys think that replacement will be: Adibi or Bentley or Clark? And why?

This is the additional quandry that Cushing's situation has placed the Texans in. Playing time. They will probably split the time with Adibi (probably strongest hitter; to see if he can make it through TC with no injury) and with Clark (experienced).

I think the staff really want it to be Adibi because of his youth and athleticism. But they will go with who ever they feel gives them the best chance to win. It may vary from team to team, but I don't think so considering who our first 4 opponents are. If not Adibi, then it will be Clark. All depends on Adibi's health and grasp of the task at hand.

This is a very good question. I remember Kubiak talking briefly about this, but I think they'll demote him after the Saints game. It makes sense to have Adibi/Bentley/Clark getting starter reps in the 3rd preseason game against the Cowboys. It's the most meaningful game of the preseason, and serves as a "warm up" to the regular season.

It's Adibi's job to lose, but I'm thinking that Clark will be next in line if Adibi begins to miss assignments. With the Redskins and Cowboys on the first quarter of the schedule, the former Giant might have a leg-up on the competition.

I'm of the opinion that Cush should get most of the reps. Yes, Adibi and Clark need some reps, but between the two are only starting four games. That and the fact that Cush is only a second year player...

I agree, to a point. It is very important for us to be ready for opening day.

Sounds like Kubiak wants to treat this like an injury, where the back-up needs to step it up when the opportunity presents itself.

But we've got 5 weeks(?) before we know this injury is going to happen.

Kubiak has already stated that Cush will continue to get the most reps while they are in camp, once they get out of camp they will increase the reps of the front runner.

As a side note Adibi missed today's practice with an injury, old habits...

If we go into the 1st quarter of the season with "unproven" CBs AND unprepared LB corp, we likely end up in the same boat playing catch up the rest of the season just like last year. I say Cush fades out of 1st team reps by the 2nd preseason game.

Remember, Cush missed most of pre-season last year and iirc, didn't play a single game.

From what I recall Kubes saying, they're going to let Cush run with the 1's for the first game or two and then let Adibi, Bently, and Clark battle it out for the final two games and the winner of that battle takes the starting spot.

But, of course, Adibi pulls his groin.

That's just peachy. Now we've got 2 potential starting LBs groin injured.:gun:

IIRC, Kubiak said Cush will play as usual throughout camp, and once preseason starts they'll start trying out interim-Cushings.

Nobody thinks Bentley can win the job?

I do. I like Bentley. He's also D-Ryans primary back-up. However, Clark has the most experience of the bunch and has been successful as a LB. I loved Adibi coming out of College, but the dude continues to disappoint me with nicks and underachieving.
