Tennessee Titans QB Vince
Young won't be suspended
by NFL for strip club fight
By Jim Wyatt • THE TENNESSEAN • July 28, 2010

The NFL is not going to suspend Titans quarterback
Vince Young for his involvement in a Dallas strip
club altercation last month, according to sources
familiar with the situation.

The league is expected to make an announcement
by the end of the week, possibly as early as
Thursday.

Titans officials could not be reached for comment
on Wednesday. Greg Aiello, Senior Vice President of
Public Relations for the NFL, declined comment.

Young was cited for a misdemeanor assault
following the June 13 incident at Club Onyx.

The next day, Young said he hoped it wouldn’t
result in NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
suspending him: “I pray to God that Roger Goodell
doesn't come down hard on me, because I definitely
want to be here for my teammates.’’

Last month, Goodell said he planned to talk with
Young at some point. The commissioner also
indicated that first-time offenders like Young
usually don’t warrant a suspension under the
league’s personal conduct policy.

Titans Coach Jeff Fisher could not be reached for
comment Wednesday night. Following the incident,
Fisher said he was disappointed with Young's
actions: “The league will look into it. The
commissioner is very strict about these types of
things and I am sure we'll hear from him after we get
more information.’’

The Titans face the Steelers in Week 2 of the regular
season. The Steelers will be without quarterback Ben
Roethlisberger, suspended for six games after
police investigated sexual assault allegations
against him in Georgia.

Goodell said he was suspending the two-time Super
Bowl winner for behavior that "undermines or puts
at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL
clubs or players."

Young’s fight occurred in an office area of the strip
club. It started when the quarterback lunged after a
man who made an upside-down "Hook ‘em Horns"
sign disparaging Young's school, the University of
Texas. Young said the man also made personal
remarks. Young said he didn’t throw a punch.

I think it's pretty safe to say that any non-star player (in the sense that he is popular, not that he is worth a damn as a QB) would be facing a punishment of some sort.

Vince sure does love his Longhorns. If he didn't start it, I don't really see a problem.

I don't like the Titans, but I've always liked Vince since he played at UT.

You might get some negative rep for that. Not from me, but the rest of the gang can be a bit hostile. Might want to research the plethora of Vince Young-related posts and threads on here, to get a grasp on the tone you're expected to have regarding VY.

Nobody's gonna' sit by you at lunch if you don't retract your statement. :strangle:

LOL, if he didn't start it? The guy flashed the upside down horns so VY punched him in the face. I don't understand how he didn't get suspended.

Having been recently involved in a melee at a topless bar *ahem* *cough* *Corrosion* *cough*,

I have to cut Vincent :hobie: some slack on this one.

Way to represent the NFL, VY. :loser

oh yeah, almost forgot...

That wasn't what that fight was about. The media tried to portray it that way, and so did some ra ra Longhorn fans, but he didn't just lose control because someone threw a horns down at him. He had to have seen that throughout all 4 years of college and a ton of of that since he's left for the league from people that don't like him or the Longhorns. I don't think some scumbag that works at a strip joint was going to get that type of reaction out of him just be doing that. I've been in a few confrontations at strip joints in my days, and it's usually 90% of the time about some type of money issue where the club's trying to screw someone over, because they do that to people every day in there.

He did act up though and he shouldn't have lost his cool and attacked the guy like that. He definitely needs to be smarter than that.
