FORT WORTH – ESPN will anchor its coverage of Super Bowl XLV from Sundance Square, putting Fort Worth's downtown entertainment district on display for the world for a week before the big game.

The truth is there's really not much to do and see in Dallas anyway, and I was once briefly in the Sundance Square area of FTW and found it very appealing. I think ESPN has made an excellent choice here.

Love seeing my hometown get some love. Ft. Worth is a great call.
I've met a couple people from Dallas and for whatever reason they've got an inflated idea of Dallas, and I would imagine they take a very superior attitude with their neighbors from FTW so must have been a real thrill when you first heard that ESPN settled on FTW as their location from where to telecast. Should give your hometown a good chance to show-off itself ?

IIRC and certainly would welcome correction, Dallas was offered a similar proposal as the the Texans with the stadium initiative. A couple of major companies in Dallas thought it would hurt their businesses if hotel and rental car taxes were increased and threatened to move their headquarters. Dallas government yielded to the pressure. So be it.

If true, then why should they reap the greater benefit of the profits generated from the stadium they didn't want? Fort Worth is a cool city and appears an ideal location for the events that will be held there.

The NFC team will be headquartered in Highland Park/SMU. That's Dallas.

Dallas city government dropped the ball on the new stadium. Jerry at one point was even interested in the Cotton Bowl. Lots of revenue lost!

One of the teams stays in a hotel someplace in Dallas ? Big deal !
The price was luring ESPN to Ft Worth, and they will be featuring that city
every time they're on the air. Untold millions of dollars of free pub for FTW.
The FTW Chamber of Commerce has got to be ecstatic with this world-wide free pub.
And re the Cotton Bowl, everyone knows it's only a matter of time before they leave the Dallas area to start playing in the cowboys stadium.

Jerry has already lured games away from the Cotton Bowl. Big 12 games. Lots of big money. My only point was Jerry was interested in renovating the Cotton Bowl for the Cowboys at one point. I know that was discussed. I really don't care where ESPN hangs their hat. Ft. Worth is fine with me. I don't watch ESPN anyway.

This is a no brainer. Ft Worth is much more tourist attractive and more sterotypical Texas (to outsiders). When I lived in Dallas we often went over to Ft Worth to hang out for a night on the town.

I wonder if they will be playing "Big Ball's in Cowtown"?

Good friend of mine worked some on a temporary basis in the DFW area, and he always talked about what a phony, Bull-ShXX place Dallas was while at the same time he talked about how really genuine and real FtWorth was. And he knew something about this "Sundance Square" area. He may have stayed there ? But it sounds like the place to visit if one is in the
North-Texas area is Ft Worth, not Dallas ?
""Big Ball's in Cowtown", huh ? Maybe ESPN hotties Erin Andrews or Bonnie Bernstein can sing it for us if they're covering the SB in Ft Worth ?

Congrats Frog... This is, as it should be. I'm proud for Fort Worth and this opportunity for them to separate themselves from Dallas. Two separate cities and about time Fort Worth gets it's due....

But aren't both stadiums in Arlington?

:jk:
