Texans, Jackson begin negotiations

Cowboys have agreed to terms with Dez Bryant.

Maybe the ball will get rolling now.

If this is true he's the first 1st rounder to sign.

I'm just a little surprised the Texans haven't already been in negotiations with Jackson. I hope they are close on Tate and Graham. Was hoping to have them both signed this week. I can't understand why Graham hasn't signed yet. His contract should be pretty easy since the players in front of him and behind him have all signed. It should be pretty straight forward.

114 Baltimore Dennis Pitta - TE 3 year $1.586 million contract, $371,000 signing bonus
115 New York Giants Phillip Dillard - ILB 4 year $2.283 million contract, $492,644 signing bonus
116 Pittsburgh Thaddeus Gibson - OLB 3 year $1.581 million contract, $366,000 signing bonus
117 Atlanta Joe Hawley - C 4 year $2.273 million contract, $483,000 signing bonus
118 Houston Garrett Graham - TE
119 Miami A. J. Edds - OLB 4 year $2.267 million contract, $477,000 signing bonus
120 Cincinnati Geno Atkins - DT 4 year $2.262 million contract, $472,450 signing bonus
121 Philadelphia Keenan Clayton - OLB 4 year $2.257 million contract, $466,790 signing bonus
122 Philadelphia Mike Kafka - QB 4 year $2.257 million contract, $467,000 signing bonus

If it makes anyone feel better, I was listening to somebody say last year at this time, there were only two 1st round picks signed, and one of them was Matthew Stafford - who agreed to terms before he was even selected.

FWIW, the other one was Mark Sanchez who signed in the first half of June.

Looking at your list of signed draft choices, I could see the number of years of the contract being a sticking point. The Texans may want to lock in Graham for 4 years. Graham may want to get to his 4th season as a RFA.

Yeah, because he knows what happens to Texans TEs.... :ouch:

With 56 TE's on the roster, I would be pushing for 3 if I represented him.

Think you guys worry too much. He is going to sign before camp.

On Jackson, the Texans are usually one of the contract setters not followers.

Yep. That's probably about the only thing it could be. The :money: shouldn't be an issue in this case.

Keenan Clayton has to be bent. The guy that his team drafted with the pick right after him got 210 dollars more signing bonus.

qbs' are $10 a dozen ;)

Well, 3 1/2 days until camp and we have 3 players yet to be signed. I haven't a clue what's holding Graham from signing. It appears we might be missing Jackson and Tate when camp gets started. Heck, the way the 1st rounders are signing, or not signing, Jackson might not be around for a while.

Let's all hope for the best. We NEED them in camp getting all the reps possible. Especially Jackson.

Hardesty just signed. He was selected 59th. One pick after Ben Tate. That should take care of the Tate negotiations. Graham has already been bookended. I'm not too concerned about getting everyone in by Friday.

The bookends (#117 and #119) signed 4 year deals. The TE at #114 signed a 3 year deal.........That may be what Graham is holding out for.

Well Ben Tate should be signing very soon this is what he said on twiiter and replied back to me

BenTateRB: A few days to be lazy!!

I replied to him
@BenTateRB So hopefully that means your about to sign and report to camp on time,I'm looking forward to a big year from you and the texans

his answer was:
@texans90 absolutely man. . .lookin fwd to it

I was surprised he actually replied back, thats actually the second time he has answered me back this offseason,So hopefully this means he will sign like tonight or tomorrow.Just thought you guys might want to know what he said

Looks like Sam Bradford will sign within the next 48 hours. Once that happens, we'll see the rest of these guys sign their contracts soon. Hopefully, we can get Kareem Jackson in camp in time. It's super important for him to get started as soon as possible.

DIdn't Duane Brown literally sign his contract an hour before practice started or into or something? Like he signed it in his practice gear....

I'm not concerned at all. Jackson doesn't seem like the type to cause problems (unless, of course, it's for PEYTON MANNING!!!!!!!!)

McCourty's signing makes it much easier for the Texans to get something done with Kareem. He needs to be in camp day one.
