According to PFT:

It was a rumor. Now it's something more firm.

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports via Twitter that Saints left tackle Jammal Brown has been traded to the Redskins.

There's no word yet on what the Saints will receive. In unrelated news, Heaven is reporting an uptick in prayers containing the phrase "please not Albert Haynesworth."

UPDATE: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Redskins are "trying to finalize" the trade, and that it's not believed to include Haynesworth.
Also:

SECOND UPDATE: Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Saints will receive a conditional draft pick. Glazer also saw his shadow, which means that there will be at least six more weeks of summer.
LOL!

Interesting. Looks like DC has had a really good off-season if this gets finalized.

That game versus them looks a little more hard.

key, under radar type signing. Donovan is going to have a solid line like early on in Philly. I'm really looking forward to Texans vs Skins game to see how Bush can attack McNabb & Co.

A solid line? The Skins will start a rookie at LT, and a guy coming off season ending injuries at RT. Even if the line does come together for Washington, it should be better getting them early (week 2) than late.

the saints get either a 3 or a 4th (depending on the McNabb deal) and a 6 or a 7th. Havent found a source yet but they had a guy (from Redskins) on SiriusNFL yesterday talking about it

Brown says he was healthy enough to play in the playoffs last year.

Apro bowl level player for a 3rd seems like a steal to me.

Too bad the Texans didn't get in on some of that action.

Are you saying the Texans should have offered the Saints a 3rd for an OT?

Who are you trying to supplant? Winston? Brown?

The Saints get either a 3rd or a 4th... which ever pick they don't give to the Eagles, for McNabb.

If McNabb sucks, the skins will give the Saints a 3rd, and they'll send a 5th to Washington

...The Skins traded a 3rd round pick for Jamaal Brown and a 5th.

which doesn't make sense, I would think the Saints would get either a 3rd and a 6th, or a 4th and a 5th.

If Brown plays 90% of the snaps, or goes to the ProBowl, the Saints also get a 6th from the 2012 draft.

I think the Skins made out on this deal. Or the Saints ain't telling every thing.

Did anyone know Brown was on the block?

Evidently the Redskins did. I'm sure other teams do a lot of inquiring as to which players can be obtained. We didn't know about Cromartie being available either, but he went to the Jets for very little. There was another trade I'm trying to remember that came as a surprise, but once again, was for relatively little.

There's always room for good OL, but of those, I think Brown would be the best fit to slide inside because of his athleticism.

Yes

You can never have too many pro bowlers on a team. Have the Texans ever had a pro bowler on the OL?

I probably would put D.Drown at OG. This would solve the interior OL problems.

Kubes is happy with what he has on the OL. I'm not, we will see how the OL turns out next year. But I dont want to hear excuses (injuries, lack of continutity etc...)

Brown for a 3rd would have been a very good deal for the Texans. However, looking at the deal, I doubt anyone but these two teams could have gotten the deal done. If we had scored him, at the VERY least he would have been a quality backup, assuming he is mostly/fully able to come back physically. The fly in the ointment would, as always, have been money, but still probably not a total blockade. Unfortunately, I doubt we were ever part of the conversation as it looks like it was pretty much just a two team conversation without others being contacted.

My thoughts here. A conditional 3rd is a pretty good deal for what was a great LT just a few seasons ago. I can't see how this would be a bad trade for the Texans. Oh well.
