My question, and this is for all the people who have the Saints on the fringes of the top 10, is what did N.O. do this offseason to make people sour on them so much?

EDIT: your posts still make me giggle

they did nothing they actualy lost good players like there fs forget his name

Just did a quick scan but seems reasonable for top 10 or so. You seem to be putting more thought and research into your ideas. Good work. Steve

Reading Slatonisabeast previous posts, i am not sure this is some sort of Andy Kaufman-like joke with the spelling and grammatical errors. Part of me wants to think, he is actually an educated Rice professor doing some sort of sick psychological test on all of us.

I think you did a good job using some reasoning .

To me the dark horse in the race is the Jets because they've been stacking talent . The one who could fall would be the Saints ... IMO .

We all know Slatonisabeast will not be in a spelling be anytime soon and I'm betting he knows it to .

You may not make it very far either...

No, he is just a 16 or 17 year old young man who like some of us did not do well in school for whatever reason. What I appreciate about him, is how he handled himself despite getting trashed on this board by many. He opened up not too long ago and gave us personal insight on his life, education, grandmother and trying to join the work place. He kept coming back and some of us have noted the improvement he has made. Not attacking you 8-8, but I am very proud of this young man and hope to watch him continue to mature and interact with us. Now back to the thread...:butterfly:

Even with farve coming back he's deff older and his age will catch up to him I except a late season meltdown due to injurys for the vikes

the colts will be good but not thy good except the titans or texans to take the crown this year and colts fightig for a wildcats spot

and the pats are on a downslide IMO

tell me this how are they going to win now with there best wide reciver gone
you beter hope some one steps up or they make tebo qb so he can run for his rookie life:rake:
I put the  in my previous post because you shouldn't be calling anyone "stuped" when you can't even spell that correctly.

I think even if I do not think it will play out that way, at least you gave a reason why you thought it would happen, which at the very least lets me understand why you ranked them there, which is good. For the most part, I think you did a good job with where you had teams.

Personally, I do not think grandpa favre can repeat that great of a season again, so while I do believe they will be a contender, I do not think it will be as nice as last season was. I also do not believe the Saints can repeat, just because of what a cinderella story it was in the first place, and how hard it is to repeat in the NFL.
I think the Jets did well last year, and got some good pickups, but then made some interesting moves when it came to getting rid of people too. I think it will probably work out in the long run for them, might just cause them to run in place for a year or so while Ryan puts the finishing touches on his defense.

Chargers could also be in trouble if they do not get the contract situation solved with V.Jax. I know they got a real running back this year, but their O line is still fairly frail and I am not sure they will be able to win as much without slinging it a decent amount.

Now to open myself up to trolling, I think the Texans may be a bit high. I do believe we have the talent to be there, but I am reluctant to place them in the top 5 until we start winning close games we should win. I am not here to start the flaming war that is everywhere saying why we are losing those games, cause to me I think the big problem there is just the mental block. I think once we do it once or twice, it will get a lot easier because more people will truly believe we can do it. The only other thing that really really worries me is our horrific schedule.

On a side note, the bottom 5-6 seem like such a crap shoot, but some of the most fun games to watch. Everyone is so bad you have no idea what is coming or who is going to win, all you can do is grab some popcorn and take a seat. The Lions/Browns game last year was amazing.

My question, and this is for all the people who have the Saints on the fringes of the top 10, is what did N.O. do this offseason to make people sour on them so much?

They let Brees do the cover for Madden. They'll be back in 2011 just like Farve came back this year.

I don't understand this at all. You put a 9-7 team ahead of two 13-3 teams, two 10-6 teams, two 11-5 teams? The 5th best team in the league goes 1 better than .500 while the 17th goes 10-6?

I'm confused. I can see a 9-7 team over a 10-6 team... but over a 13-3 team in the SAME CONFERENCE?

Mike

Mike, obviously you have not read many of slatonisabeast posts.

I believe those are last years records

Ima say this to Slatonisabeast.............. I was damn proud to meet you and I now consider you a friend...

Please do what we talked about, meaning: write your thoughts down, then figure out what you wanna post! Admittedley, you think faster than you type....

BTW, While I disagree with some of your rankings, AWESOME JOB!!!

Keep it up bro!! AND..... Get back to school!!!

Admittedley, I have that opposite problem. I type faster than I can think! And I type slow as Christmas in June....

I like this.
3 Packers 11-5-0 packers worked hard all season but fell a game short of the super bowl
I'm not understanding the love the Pack is getting. They beat up on a weak schedule from a weak division. I understand Rodgers is looking like the next big thing, and Capers is laying some woood... but really, I think you have the Pack about 6 or 7 spots too high
4 Patriots 10-6-0 a come back year for brady im looking forawrd to seeing what happens
I like this. I think most people put too much stock on what BB has lost as far as players go. But he's still a genius, and he's got a bunch of young guys who got a ton of experience last year. A bunch of nobodies... but that's not new for him.
5 Texans 9-7-0 matt schaub and the offince are on fire they are happy to just get to the play offs
4 to 5 spots high... & I thought I was drinking the Kool-Aide
6 Cowboys 11-5-0 the cowgirls arnt as good as every one thinks if there so good they would of made it bye now

9 Jets 9-7-0 rex ryans defence will be crazy
10 Bengals 10-6-0 there o line is going need help next year in the draft
I think all these should move up, I think the Bengals leap-frogs most of these teams (save the Saints).
11 Falcons 9-7-0 duanta *pay me* robinson will suck and cause the falcons to draft a corner in the next draft
12 giants 8-8-0 will maby make it farther but they need help
13 Ravens 9-7-0 flaco and there new wide recivers are guna be on fire
I think both the Giants and the Ravens belong in the top 10. Falcons just outside, sounds about right. Michael Turner has got something to prove, if he does.. then we've got them way too low.
14 Titans 8-8-0 chris johnson will stay solid just wont be as good as last year
Nobody can be as good as he was last year. Then they've got this contract thing... I know they're going to pay him, don't know why they are waiting around so long.
15 Panthers 8-8-0 there new qb will be much beter then jake.
It's not about the QB in Carolina. If their new QB doesn't try to make too much happen, I think this is the most underated team on your board. I wouldn't put them much higher, I'm just saying. They have a pretty solid team, like ours, that the record doesn't tell the whole story.

All good points, I think this was a great post, top to bottom.

The only thing I would add, is get off the fence. Either you think they are going to win those close games next year, or you don't.

If you think the team is at that point, follow me. I don't think they need to prove anything. I've seen enough last year, that I believe we'll win enough of those close games, to put us up in that tier. In my mind, that would make us a top 10 team. I don't think we'll win them all, that's not realistic. But I think we'll win a few of those close games.

If you don't think we're there... follow all the guys who are going to slam me for this post.

IMHO, if you think we're one of the 10 best teams in the league, then you need to join the fight, and help me out.

If you need them to prove that they can do it... you're on the other side.

To make a long post short... Let me say this. The Saints had fans, prior to last season, who thought their team was top 10. They also had fans, saying the team needed to prove it. They were 8-8 the year before.

IMHO, those guys who thought their team was top 10 were right, and those others are just jumping on the bandwagon.

IMHO, those guys who thought their team was top 10 were right, and those others are just jumping on the bandwagon.

I do not know that I would take it that far. Maybe its just the way I have always seen it, but to me, jumping on the bandwagon is like becoming a saints fan now that they won the superbowl, when you could have cared less about them before they got to that point. I had an old roommate that lived in Texas and was magically a patriots fan when they started winning. I will always root for the texans win or loose.

As for being on the fence, you are completely right, but hey, there is a nice breeze up here. But really - I am all for the texans and believe they can do it. I just realize that the longer I stalled on making that comment, the more time I would have to get to know some of the people on this board before I started getting flamed for saying something stupid (its only a matter of time :gun:).

SiaB - you have to believe in your post. Just take pride it was entertaining enough to still have people talking in it!

To me, it's like riding a moped through the back streets... you don't want anyone to know you enjoy riding mopeds, until you find out they like riding mopeds. Or dating a fat girl, and never taking her where your friends are... you don't want them to see you, unless she knocks off a couple of dress sizes.

This is my power rankings (subject to change)...

4. Packers
Really?

I'm just not seeing it. #4 in the NFC... maybe.. but not #4 in the league.
8. Redskins
9. Texans
10. Titans
11. Falcons
12. Ravens
13. Jets
Interesting. I like it. I'd also like to hear you explain it.
18. Bengals

20. 49ers
Oh my... definitely going to have to hear you explain this.
27. Jaguars
No way a team that swept us in 2009 should be this low, while we're so high. One or the other is way wrong.

I went off by their schedule strenght, draft base on need, and offseason additions/losses

we can start with #4 packers (Funny not to think about Favre)
What other top team do you think could be better or deserve this spot? Chargers just like the Cowboys always look good on paper, you can say these two teams have been Super Bowl favorites for the past five straight years and well you know how things end. Chargers have lost couple of key players already like LaDainian, NT Jamal Williams. probably fixing to lose via trade or hold out Vincent Jackson and McNeil. As much as the media love their pick Ryan Matthews I dont believe he will have a LT type of rookie impact. Cowboys is another team that have alot of talent, most of it on offense but a really weak secondary and really good division rivals. what other team could be up there the Patriots?! maybe but ill stay with 5th best QB and a really good D

8. Redskins
9. Texans
10. Titans
11. Falcons
12. Ravens
13. Jets

Redskins- GREAT QB McNabb, HOF coach, Portis will be back, good draft

Texans- great offense, up and coming defense, also will play with a chip on their should to finally make the playoffs.

Titans- good team but not consistent

Falcon Ravens and Jets- schedule strength is not hard and just good teams that will keep winning

Bengals- schedule is tough, too many question marks on defense i am not completely sold. P.S Big fan of Ocho Cinco

49ers- really good draft, nice defense but still no QB

Jaguars- tough schedule, bad draft, bad offseason and too many needs on both sides of the ball

My rankings are in another thread
8. Redskins
9. Texans
10. Titans
11. Falcons
12. Ravens
13. Jets
I'm just thiking the Skins have a lot to work through. Putting them in the top ten, is pretty ballsy, especially when you have the media darlings; Jets & Ravens out.

I actually like the Titans close to us, because I think they are as good as us.
Titans- good team but not consistent
Like I said... like us.
Falcon Ravens and Jets- schedule strength is not hard and just good teams that will keep winning
Again.. I think you need to explain why they are so low. I understand they have to be on your list somewhere, why so low.
Bengals- schedule is tough, too many question marks on defense i am not completely sold. P.S Big fan of Ocho Cinco
Ours is tougher. Had they not got hit with the injury bug late in the season, they could've (should've) been in the AFC Championship game.
Jaguars- tough schedule, bad draft, bad offseason and too many needs on both sides of the ball

Again, we probably said the same thing about this team after the 2009 draft. But they swept us, and took the Colts to the wire (just like us)... I understand they are division rivals, and we're supposed to hate them, and when they're here, we'll talk some trash. But they are a solid squad, much better than 27.

Thunderkyss Let me also ask you the 99 questions about your thread..
first I already explained why the Cowboys are not #4
Bengals at 6, way too high
Cardinal at 16, too high
Raiders 30, LMAO no way!!!
Bears 32?! :jogger:

just to name a few for right now!!!
back to your question...

I love what the Redskins have done this offseason from the office to the players traded for and the draft. I do agree they are ranked high but they are my suprise team and will win alot of games.
Dont forget that the Jets were a 9-7 team, new york media just made them bigger then what they really are.

why you feel like Falcons-11 Ravens-12 Jets-13 are ranks soo low? you have Falcons-15 Ravens-8 Jets-12. maybe we disagree about the Ravens a bit but like I said i am looking at how much better they got from last year

Thunderkyss Let me also ask you the 99 questions about your thread..
You say that like you're perturbed I asked you a few questions. I thought we posted these things, to initiate a football discussion.

either way, I'm not mad at all, ask away.
first I already explained why the Cowboys are not #4
Bengals at 6, way too high
Cardinal at 16, too high
Raiders 30, LMAO no way!!!
Bears 32?! :jogger:

I think the Cowboys are all that, the Bengals too. Injuries hurt the Bengals, and they are young. I think they'll only be better in 2010. The Cowboys just have choking issues. Similar to the Texans. But they are talented on both sides of the ball, at nearly every position. On paper, I don't think there is a better team.

I don't know if 16 is too high, or if I'm giving the Cardinals too much credit. But I believe they are better than the 16 teams below. They are strong in the trenches, talented at the skill positions, and I like their uniforms.

Raiders... funny I know, but I couldn't put Rams & the Bears above them. I just don't see it.

Bears. Yes, I think they are overrated, and they overachieved in '09. I don't see a clear direction... I think they're lost.

I love what the Redskins have done this offseason from the office to the players traded for and the draft. I do agree they are ranked high but they are my suprise team and will win alot of games.
That was a top ten defense, and they're tearing it apart.

I think you agree with me, that the Jets & Falcons are being given too much credit. I just wanted to see why you think so. The Ravens had every thing they needed last year, I love Ray Rice... they've done well, I think, in FA & the Draft.

About the 99 question comment I was just joking with you, don't take it wrong I'm not here to argue with anyone.

Cowboys just like the Chargers are a great regular season team, in this past decade even the #30 rank Raiders have more playoff wins then the cowboys. Until they get some secondary nothing will change

On bengals and cardinals you might see things in a different point of view and that's your option maybe after the season you are right but I can guarantee you bears won't be worst then the bill, browns, rams, lions, chiefs.

Raiders will be a .500 team.
