Studdard and Casey suffer injuries

Studdard hurt his knee earlier in the week and he got a knee scope so he's going to sit out for a few weeks!

This means Caldwell, Smith and Biscuit Brisiel will all get increased reps! Actually, I figure Brisiel will sit out minicamp but it's good news for Wade Smith and Caldwell.

Woohoo!

in other news,

We're down to just 1 TE.

Casey hurt his groin today. How we went from 9 TE's (you gotta count Barwin and Earl Mitchell too!) to just 1 is very impressive. He's out for a few weeks.

Kasey (Studdard) had his knee scoped this morning. He got nicked when we went into the bubble the other day, actually did it on the first play and practiced the whole practice, and came in the next morning with swelling. But we're fortunate he had a scope; should be about two to three weeks. So he's doing good. (TE)James (Casey) pulled a groin he's going to be a few weeks. If there was ever any good time I guess it's good so we can get him healthy now. He will not be out here next week."

Woohoo? What's up with that? I'm not a huge fan of his play either, but you and your buddy take it a bit overboard, no? I mean, what's wrong with a intense competition during camp? Let the best 3 win! You'd rather your favorites to win via injury?

So will Shelly Smith see increased reps as well? I have hopes for the kid that he can push White or Studdard off the 53 man roster.

To be clear I'm not excited to see anyone get injured I hope my post didn't come off that way.

WOOOHOOO!

Sorry, but I can't contain myself. My biggest concern with Kubes are his occasional issues assessing certain players/positions... One of those is Studdard. I'll gladly have Studdard on this team as depth but whatever assurances I can have right now that Studdard won't be taking the field as one of the starting five in September definitely improves my state of mind and hopefulness for the season.

I do agree with rather having Studdard as depth, but I'd like to see him truly beat out with competition. The bigger the competition, the more it pushes those players involved.

Meh, it's a moot point anyway. Studdard will be back come training camp. So y'all woohooing might be a bit premature.

Well I'll just say I disagree with being glad ANY player on your own team is injured.

..........especially if the line takes a decimating hit by the time the season opens........or even by the time of or the during the time of TC. It should be elimination by competition only!

And Casey with a groin?..........where have we heard this type of good news in the past?

Oh let us not go there, please.

Cheering because a player on YOUR team got hurt is just straight pissing on the football gods. Thank you.

Will somebody please delete this thread...

And remember I called for that one thread to be deleted, where somebody said we made it through camp so healthy...it wasn't...and then we started a revolving door of players to the IR as soon as the season started...

First rule of being a Texans fan......You don't talk about the lack of injuries, during any point of a new season, which means you sure as hell don't cheer one of your own player's injuries, just because you don't like him. (Look, Casey is already hurt)

For the love of Andre's ACLs...please delete this thread.

This thread is crappy and I am not going to post in-

****.

Well, either way I don't think Shelley Smith is going to push anybody off the 53, and right now I'm thinking that Studdard could lose his starter spot if he falls too far behind.

Seriously...why hasn't this thread been deleted yet? If you care about the health of our players, please delete this bad karma/jinx thread. :voodoo:

I find it funny that so many people were pissed when we took Graham, and now here we are.

Does Rick Smith have some sort of crystal ball?

No. He knew at the time of the draft that we had injury concerns at TE. OD, Dreesen and Hill were coming off surgery

It's strange we waited around so long for Ahman Green to get healthy, went into a season with Chris Taylor banged up...

But if a Tight-end gets so much as a paper cut, we draft two just in case.

Seems the Texans knew what they where doing in drafting TE Garrett Graham & OG Shelley Smith.

DISCLAIMER: Wild Speculation about to commence. Please do not burn me at the stake. Not claiming this is true, or that I have proof, but rather looking at this from a distance and not trusting what Texans staff say about players' injuries.

I was actually thinking that Studdard's got a bum knee and came to OTAs with that bum knee.

How does Studdard "hurt" his knee on the very first play of OTAs? My theory is that he was dealing with a knee injury already, and right out of the gate he tweaks it on the first play.

I say this because people keep things hidden. Am I really to believe that Pete Carroll left USC because he wanted a shot in the NFL...with the Seahawks? No, he left because he knew the 2-year ban on USC was coming 'round the bend. When you see a guy jump in spectacular fashion, there's a reason beyond wanting to actually go to that new coaching job.

When someone has something that happens out of nowhere, there's usually a really good explanation as to why it happened. I think Studdard has had a bad knee and it showed on the very first play of OTAs. It's so bad that it couldn't withstand that initial stress of a real-speed environment. Gotta' say that I admire him for trying, but also have to say that even if Kubiak and staff knew about Studdard's knee (if he DID have a prior) we'd never know about it.

Instead, it's a tiny footnote from Kubiak. "Yeah, gee whiz...Casey Studdard banged up his knee. Gosh darn, it was even on the first play. He'll be fine in a couple weeks." Kubiak used the word "nicked" as if he was hit in the knee by another player. Can anyone confirm this? I'd love to see whether Kubiak is being honest about this or not. Because I have to think Kubiak says "nicked" as in "he got hurt" instead of "someone nicked him and it hurt his knee."

Yeah, he'll be "ready to go" in 2-3 weeks. :not:

That knee's going to nag him.

Didn't he hurt in on the first play when they moved inside? And he went through the other OTA's fine.

I think you're right.

But if we're playing conspiracy theory, I think Kubiak pulled him aside and gave him the ole, "You're not cutting it son. I'm giving you the option to start complaining about your knee, or let me demote you in front of the team and everybody."

Well, there goes that theory. Thanks a lot, JB. :(

Now what am I supposed to do all day?

Hooray!!! TK saved the day.

Yes, Kubiak has just made Studdard an offer he can't refuse.

Most excellent, Smithers!

Been trying to rep you for this disclaimer for days. No Luck. brilliant though.

Bring back Chester dammit! :penalty:

It is a bummer to hear about Casey though. :(

I think he'll be ready for the season, if not preseason.

I wonder why the Texans have shown no interest...

That Whoosh-BANG! you just heard was the Texans offensive line coming together as a unit.

Good decision by the Texans, as far as I'm concerned.

Hopefully Wade Smith got enough of Studdard's reps in camp to shorten the gap to supplant him as a starter during training camp. I feel a lot more comfortable with Myers at center than I do Studdard at guard...

*shivers at the thought of being comfortable with Myers or Studdard starting*

Both should compete for bench time.

Here's what appears to be the latest news (or perhaps information is a better word) regarding Chester.

LINK

I guess we'll see if next week really ends up being next week, but it may not be long until somehting happens for Chester.

It'll also be a statement of Chester's value if Gibbs goes after him.

I would've thought the Texans would have re-signed Pitts too. But the rest of the league hasn't showed that much interest either. I think his injury is pretty serious and teams don't think he can play at a high level anymore.
