London has spent the last 16 years as an assistant coach in college. He also has been an intern at camps with the Cowboys, Patriots and Jets.

"He's very technique-sound," defensive end Gary Walker said. "The coach we had in the past was great. But London has his style, and his style is working. I'm enjoying him.

"College and NFL coaching is pretty much similar. ... He knows the scheme. We've bought into his philosophy, and we're excited about doing it."

The above is a quote from the Chonicle and it sort of verifys what I have been saying. Gary Walker is really telling you something about the former coach. As I indicated in another post awhile back, this seemly small change may yield big time results. There have been a lot of indications of this coming out of TC. The pressure of the D-line on our O-line is just one of those and I'm excited about that. In years past our O-line wasn't pressed nor was the other Teams O-lines that we played. I think our D-line is going to pressure this year and our O-line is going to get better because of the pressure in TC. I think this is a win-win scenario despite what people see on the news. You can't fix it if you can't see what's broken and where the problems are. I'm happy every time they do something that exposes a problem, because then they can fix it. Some people have been saying things are looking better and that Wand isn't getting beat on every play and is starting to look better. I guess that would be called learning by experience. Remember, he was classified as learning disabled and he might not learn by listening. He may be a very visual learner.

i think you bring up a very interesting point...the way i read it is that maybe some of our d-lineman are liking our new d-line coach better than the previous one...when you get down to it coaching is all about how well you can teach and motivate a player...i have no doubt that our previous line coach was able to teach it was is motivating ability that may have been hurting us...now you look at how intense these guys have been since london has arrived here...there is a big difference in how they play...very very uplifting look to our boys

now as to how it will affect the o-lineman...personally i don't think them playing against a more fired up d-line from the same team will make them that much better...it can have both a positive affect and a negative one...i'm glad that coach capers is not moving pitts back to LT...it's not his natural position and i think pitts can be a pro bowl type guard in this league...the battle at left tackle i think is almost over...i think riley has won it...for a couple of reasons...one...he's a much better run blocker...two...he's a older veteran who isn't having to learn out to pass protect in the nfl anymore...three it gives casserly every inscentive to go after a franchise LT in the upcoming draft without any second guessing about position...and four...maybe just maybe riley can work out the pass protection gig enough to give us two years of starting so we can bring in the franchise LT at a reasonable pace

I hope you're prediction is wrong because if its not, we're gonna have some more real long Sunday afternoons this fall against Feeney and others. Riley
is not a LT: he can't pass block against an effective pass rusher and
if he was gonna "work out the pass protection gig", he would have done it
by now since he's a what, an 8 or 9 year vet in the league. If we are stuck with him its because Wand has just not come far enough.

I have to agree, Riley is not the answer, and is not a LT. If Wand is learning disabled, then he will be getting put on his butt until he does (in training camp). Remember folks, Wand does have the atheltic ability and feet, he just has to learn how to hold his ground, move his feet, and use his long arms. He can eventually learn to do this Riley( after 8 or 9 years hasn't, or can't). :brickwall

I've never claimed to be a football scientist, but in my opinion, it just doesn't seem smart to have 3 different starters at the left tackle position within 4 years. How is anyone going to get better?

I think it would be best to leave Wand in there. This will be his second year, and should be better than his first. Pitts did a much better job in his second year than he did in his first.

I don't think throwing in a RT (Riley) into a LT postion is the smart thing. It's been reported over and over that Riley is good against the run, and poor against the pass...Same problem as Wand.

Why change?

I agree.. maybe it would be easier to make Carr throw lefthanded
:goodnight ( I am joking of course)

IMHO. I don't care who is the LT this year. If the Texans have a high pick next year for whatever reason, then We will probably have our Frachise LT from the next draft. It is no secret the Texans want a pass-blcoker. For continuity, I would keep Wand in there this year. He is young and understands the offense quite well by now. He also has played next to Pitts.

I think that is the Texans plan. They want one of the LT out of next years draft. It is loaded. Probably another reason Casserly picked up the extra 3rd next year in case he needs to trade up to get a good LT. The only positions on the OL that are set for the next few years are RT and LG.

Agreed. We WILL be taking a LT in the draft next year if the class is as good as it is suppossed to be. I don't think Cass will bat an eye to trade up if his desired player is available.
