First straw: Brutal schedule on paper

Second straw: No Cushing for first 4 games.

Third straw: AJ sitting out of workouts wanting a new contract.

Straw that broke the camel's back? Ben Tate injured and "going to miss a little time."

I am officially in chicken little mode!!! Please football God's... give Texans fans a break and let us enjoy a successful season!!!

I'm not pushing the panic button yet, but my finger is hovering over it.

Well, on the bright side, no one should be disappointed this year. My expectations for next year keep getting lower every day.

Not worried. Seen much worse offseasons come out with success in the NFL with a lot less talent than we have.

u know how many teams that have players miss Volantary and heck THe hole off season and are unhappy about there contract alot dont worry about it

I'm going to be worried every offseason, even if things are going smoothly, until the Texans make the playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, Joker are you still suffering through your bet (or oath) or did you finally end it??

I'm more excited about next season than worried. I'm not too worried about our "tough" schedule. We won't know how tough it really is until the end of next season. The Cowboys may be the team that goes 6-10 for all we know, along with the Giants, and Baltimore. It wouldn't be unheard of.

I understand probability isn't on my side. But that's okay. That's what gets me pumped.

Dude, it's May. I am not going to freak out about the NFL in May. We've got four more crappy months of Astros baseball to worry about before we go into vagina mode for the Texans (no offense to vaginas).

Time for that coach of ours to earn a his paycheck right now and get the team together instead of waiting until we've lost to Indy twice to give his "who's with me?" speech.

We are just getting the bad stuff out early this year. Duh! And why anyone is even remotely worried about Tates situation is beyond me.

I'm actually more worried about our future than this season. If Andre is holding out, how much do you think Mario is going to want?

Nudge me in a couple months. If these issues are still there I might worry, but I reckon things will be just fine.

Good teams would over come all of this and beat the odds hopefully the Texans will prove the can do the the same and 2010 will be a sign of good things to come. My fingers are crossed.

I think that adversity can be a good thing for football teams. I think that it gives the players an edge and they play with a chip on their shoulder. I fully expect the Texans to come out like gangbusters the first game. JMO.

I'm only worried for you, brother!! 8 years of "backup" can't be healthy.. :pirate:

My biggest worry is the interior of our offensive line. Basically, its all second teamers ~ Studdard, Myers & Caldwell. Neither Studdard nor Caldwell have ever been starters & Myers well, what can I say but I just don't have faith in him.

My second biggest worry would be the defensive line. I really hope this smaller line will work.

McGobbler reported this morning that Smith spent a lot of time at C with the 1's. Caldwell got most of the reps at RG. Brisiel spent some time both G spots. So, we'll definitely have some battling going on at those 3 spots.

Hearing Smith getting a lot of reps at C makes me happy. It appears the coaching staff might agree with us that think Myers is NOT an NFL starter at C.

Not worried at all. Good football teams can handle adversity. Andre will be there regardless. Loosing 56 for four games is unfortunate but we have good depth, and a hamstring?!!!?? in may?!!!???

We're good.

Go Texans.

I don't get worried over something I cannot control. It's a game, entertainment, and if they win, GREAT, if they do not... I wake up the next day and read all the complaints here and that gets me laughing, so either way, no, I am not worried !!

You know something? Screw this. Everyone's right. I now hate football, the Texans, and everyone of yall.

I'm getting my spaceship fixed and leaving the damn planet. It's no fun anymore.

Did not want to see the 4 game loss of Cush, but it is there. I think the other LBs will step up. This is a big chance for Adibi to show what he has. The Dline and Oline should be better as will the running game. Tate can block as did Brown but offers more as a back. I am also very positive on Slaton and think a role shift will benefit him and team. I am going out on a limb but I think Foster will be very good this year. I saw OD on TV last night and think he will be ok. Our corners and safeties are my biggest concerns but we should be all right. AJ's situation will be resolved and I expect Schaub to have another very good year even if his PA and yardage drop due to more running plays. I also say Duane Brown comes more into his own this year but that is more of a hunch than based on any solid info.

I am really not as engrossed in wins as most but want to see good play from our guys.

Doesn't seem like a great offseason
that is for sure
but it is the NFL and things can go either way once season starts

hopefully they can add a starter at a position of need
Doesn't look like we are willing to do what it takes to improve the team
after all, we went 9-7 last year.....

That's a strange outlook. Why would you not care about the team winning in the ultimate team sport?

Because if you're playing well, the wins are going to come. If you're focused on winning, and not playing well, you will follow a 7-9 season with a 2-14 season.

Playing good football has to be the most important thing right now. That's how dynasties are built. Winning comes as a result of playing good football.

Of course, the ultimate goal is to play great football. There are less than a handful of teams that play great football in this league. Those are the teams that are always at the top.

Am I the only one who was impressed with Dressen's play at the end of the season?

If we can continue to involve him in the passing game, I think it would be a big boost to our offense. With a two tightend set, Dressen on one side, OD on the other... they'll have no idea who to cover.

Casey is getting all the reps right now and per Kubes is looking very good. And Graham reminds him of a young OD.

We are finally starting to get some depth on this team.

At tight end? is the experiment with Casey as a full back over?

I liked that idea of him being a full back. If he can catch the ball out of the backfield, and explode up-field much better than Leach.

Then move Slaton out wide, and hand the ball off to Casey...

At this point he is the only TE healthy other than the rookies

I think the idea of Casey at fullback was purely as an occasional deal akin to the few times we have seen OD or even AJ line up at fullback.

Actually, my boy, Leach, was "nicked up" after the Jets game. Casey was gearing up throughout the week to start, but Leach came back towards the end of the week.

Vonta Leach is still nursing a bruised knee and ran on the sidelines during today's practice. He is listed as day-to-day. Casey got all of Leach's reps at fullback in practice, and if Leach is a no-go, Gary Kubiak said Casey would start against the Titans.

Sure I think they see him as a back up but since he was drafted some fans have been talking about him playing most of his snaps at FB and I don't think that is the intent of the Texans. I think they see him as a TE who can play FB on special plays and in reserve.

I can see me ( in my LSD play book ) putting Casey in the backfield with Holliday , in my version of the wildcat . Why ... Casey can throw and Holliday can fly and can hide behind the big boys .

Agreed. I've seen a lot of Casey and there's one thing that quickly comes to mind when I think of his play. His hands, he's got some of the stickiest hands I've seen. Honestly, I was surprised he didn't get more time on the field last season. A possible trust issue? There was a handfull of games that I've re-watched that I noticed Casey wide open and Schaub never even progressed to him. As the play would end, you'd see Casey kinda lookin around like WTF?

Anywho, it'll be interesting to see who receives the bulk of the reps at TE during TC. When OD and Dreessen are healthy it'll make for another position battle worth keeping an eye on.

Yeah I noticed that and the same initially with Dreesen. And that's weird because with WR's Schaub seems pretty plug and play. Given Casey running with the 1st team through OTA's and mini-camps I'd bet that issue is gone. Agreed on the hands thing plus it isn't like his build suggests FB since he is taller and lankier than OD.

It was Caldwell's rookie year and I think he's going to turn into a very capable guard. Studdard...I like his fire, but the guy isn't starter material and borderline backup. Myers isn't the worst center ever, but he's got big flaws that are easy to expose.

I'm hoping so on the DL as well, unless Mitchell comes in and makes a huge impact I'm not going to count on major improvement. Just more of the same.

Good to hear about Smith getting reps at C. I'm not the biggest Brisiel fan, but he's better than our other options at guard. I have hoeps that Shelly Smith can do some good things.

They can play like complete ass for all I care longas they make the playoffs. I don't want another off season chirping about how we're the best 8-8 or 9-7 team while we're on the outside of the playoffs.

Didn't Casey get some decent reps after OD went down? I recall hearing he didn't impress much.

Yes, he got a few. It'd be hard for him to impress without the ball thrown his way. That's what I was talking about yesterday. There were times he'd be standing alone wide open and was never looked at. I'd like to see him utilized more this season, but having 16 other TE's we might never see that happen. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of packages they install that might utilize the TE a little more. I think we're going to have 4 good pass catching TE's on the roster if we decide to keep all of them.

Unfortunately, our boy Dreessen, might be the odd man out. Hope not, but we'll see.
