I just saw it on the channel 13 news. He got into it with some o-lineman, nobody i recognized. He may be getting a reputation as a loose cannon and somewhat of a hard ***** but i think its a good thing. The Texans have too many nice guys on the team. We need some tenacity especially on the defensive side of the ball. Ray Lewis and the Ravens have that hit em' in the mouth mentality and thats why they are a great defense. With Peak and Johnson out there we may strike some fear in the minds of the opposing offense. Thats just my opinion.

I don't think it is a bad thing. I think it is one of those things where the rookie is trying to establish himself. I could see one or two fights, but after that there shouldn't be anymore (by one person).. Only reason is that you don't want to see that on Sunday afternoon in critical situations.

There will be a fight in every camp. I have said this before....guys with at minimum 250,000 a year jobs on the line, where the guys are expected to be physical, in 100 degree heat...think about.

Pretty minor dustup really, I've seen better ones in practices at college and even H.S. Surprising there is not more of this, considering a guy's bread and butter may be at stake. TJ may be set for a long, long time but the FA OL is either on the Texans' payroll this year, if only the PS, or he's back home working underground in a coal mine in WV.

To be honest with you, I was a little pi$$ed when I saw he got into the fight on the news cause I thought it was in poor tast the he held out of camp then shows up and gets into a fight right off the bat. I take it back...all back. It's nice to see a bit of fire in someone and maybe it will spread through the whole D. I can't wait for the season to begin!!!!

Yeah I saw that too. I just hope that T. Johnson known when to turn it on and turn it off. A good play screwed up by a 15 yrd. penalty is no longer considered a positive thing. But, this guy is obviously what the doctor ordered.
Someone who plays with fire and intensity and can stay within himself is just what the doctor ordered. A guy who rips his own helmet off in a fit of rage during his second fight in two days with an undrafted free agent may be cause for concern. Obviously they have unfinished business from New Years Day and obviously he will get talked to by the head cheese.

They say "strategy" - is doing the right things and "tactics" is doing things right.
TJ's tactics of standing up for yourself in your first training camp is one thing if you are trying to win a job in the NFL... but fighting for the second time with rookie that isn't going to make the team is a pretty weak strategy.

Well West Virginia is in the Big East and FSU is in the ACC, but as Huge pointed out earlier they played a bowl game this past season. Perhaps the beef dates back to then.

mano-mano against the 16th overall in the 2005 college draft and hanging
in there pretty damn well. Like Cass says, being competitive in matchups against top competition is one of the best ways to judge a players ability.

You know something, that thought has been in the back of my mind since word of the first fight. I've been waiting to see if anyone would say anything about Brown's play so far. If he is keeping TJ out and flustering him, he is doing something some of the veterans on the team have been unable to do. My curiosity is piqued.nunusguy said:

it's good to have a couple isolated fights in training camp but not ones that constantly repeat...travis johnson vs tim brown has gone twice...kinda getting old already...i think it's time for both of those guys to just get back to football and leave the fighting to other people...maybe it would be good to see g-funk vs riley...old auburn teammates...haha...see who wins that one
