Jerome McDougal in Critical Condition after Shooting

Local 10 News has learned that a man who was shot in an attempted robbery in southwest Miami-Dade County Thursday night is a former University of Miami and current Philadelphia Eagle football player.

Jerome McDougal is in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The defensive end was shot in his silver Mercedes near 122nd Court and Southwest 203rd Street.

Police said a group of three men fled the area on foot after the shooting.

It was only a matter of time something bad happened to him. He was the NFL version of being born under a ladder that knocked over a mirror before a black cat crossed his pregnant mothers path while the doctor opened an umbrella that spilled some salt.
