All Pro
per Nick Scurfield

CB Kareem Jackson: #25 (SS Nick Ferguson, 2008-09: CB Dexter Wynn, 2006-07; CB Derrick Johnson, 2006; CB Kevin Garrett, 2006; RB Tony Hollings, 2003-05)

RB Ben Tate: #43 (FB Jameel Cook, 2006-07; CB Kenny Wright, 2002-04)

DT Earl Mitchell: #92 (DT Jeff Zgonina, 2007-09; DE Anthony Weaver, 2006; DE Corey Sears, 2002-04)

LB Darryl Sharpton: #51 (LB Chaun Thompson, 2008-09; LB DaShon Polk, 2004-06; LB Jimmy McClain, 2002-03)

TE Garrett Graham: #88 (TE Jeb Putzier, 2006-07; WR Derrick Armstrong, 2004-05; TE Rashod Kent, 2003, WR Avion Black, 2002)

CB Sherrick McManis: #22 (RB Chris Brown, 2008-09; CB Roc Alexander, 2006; SS Ramon Walker, 2005; SS Curry Burns, 2003)

G Shelley Smith: #71 (T Jordan Black, 2007; T Mike Pearson, 2006; T Todd Wade, 2004-05; T Tony Boselli, 2002)

KR Trindon Holliday: #84 (WR Darnell Jenkins, 2008; WR Eric Moulds, 2006; TE Marcellus Rivers, 2005; WR J.J. Moses, 2003-04; WR Jermaine Lewis, 200)

WR Dorin Dickerson: #19 (WR Edell Shepherd, 2006; WR Charlie Adams, 2006)

And some of you may not know that Arian Foster changed his number to #23.

71? Looks like Shelley Smith's career is over before it began!

I find it interesting that Holliday's 84. So I guess that means he won't be seeing any time at RB. I can't see him lining up at TE or WR. I woulda gave him a lower number just in case.

Dickerson's number is sweet. And Holliday's, I guess they are making a him a receiver.

Nitro- I think Holliday can still line up in the backfield with that number, why wouldn't he?

Kevin Walter motions into the backfield to take pitches...

Maybe if he is running the ball it will be in a situation like that...

He can play WR and RB or wherever they want to stick him. Just because he's got an 84 number that doesn't mean he can't line up as a RB. It's just that his main position will be listed as WR.

Not if we use him like Darren Sproles.

If he lines up at WR, I'm loading up on the other side. Reverses and motions don't work as well with a guy coming off the bench only to do those. A 5 foot-nothing, a hundred-nothing pound rascal is hard to miss at WR in the NFL? Wouldn't you think?

I see a lot of screens in this guy's future. I also see us using him in motion (to reduce the risk of him getting jammed at the line of scrimmage) and sending him on mad fly patterns where he just flies down the field as fast as he can. Talk about stretching the field.

Anyone else notice that #22 is available?

Can we please not give Tate the same number that Jameel Cook had? It might have fumble germs on it.

Trindon Holliday may have went with 84 because his college number was 8 (right?).

Yea I see him in the slot a lot and getting some bubble screens. Maybe a few reverses, but I think he has higher upside as a WR than a RB.

Tate asked fans what number he should take :D.

In the end he decided on #43.

Alot of people said to take 22.. personally I recommended 34 :D. He went with 43 because its as close as he could get to 44 heh.

The Texans sure have had a lot of shitty players....

you're not kidding, that was my first thought as well. ramon walker and jeff zgonina are the only players on that list, which is pretty telling. i do hope that zgonina losing his number doesnt mean he wont be a texan next season though. per play he was our most productive DT last season and that do or die attitude is what we need in the lockerroom.

I would think if you lost your number, to a rookie who just got drafted, then it's a pretty good sign you're gone.

I mean, why would the just-drafted guys be able to even have a chance at the jersey number if the previous owner was going to return and use it?

No guarantees, but it looks as if we won't see those guys back.

Which means Chris Brown is officially done wrecking this team. Hallelujah!

None of these numbers have had great success so far. Here's to hoping that changes.:texflag:
Hear, Hear!!

Let's hope the success level with these numbers changes like Schaub changed the success level that went with #8.

43 is also 34 in reverse. Perhaps we've finally been shined upon.

I know its just a players jersey number and means absolutely nothing but im kinda dissapointed in ben tate's selection. I woulda loved a 24 or 42 or any even number. The only odd number I like is kareems..Off topic but a lot of new rookies picked "bad numbers". bradford as an 8? tebow a 10? berry a 29? it just looks wierd IMO.

I'm actually starting to like the 43. Only other popular player with it is polumalu. I'm just gonna refer to Tate as "43" from now on.

hmmm... 40-something doesn't seem like much of a RB number. More like a FB or safety.

Oh well, if he likes it, I love it.

I disagree.

Tim Jamison took his number last year, and then in TC they saw the needed to re-sign him, Jamison had to switch his number.

No one, but no one should ever be #34 in the city of Houston. That number is reserved for Earl, Nolan and Hakeem... ;)
