54.OT ??????

From the press conference:

Dorin Dickerson will be a WR
Trindon Holliday will be a Punt/Kick-off return specialist

Smith indicated that the Texans do not have enough OT's with three. It sounds like adding another backup at this position through free agency will be a priority for the team.

Move Dickerson to WR.

Move Casey to FB (although he'll play TE, too.)

Put Hill back on as a TE, conditionally. (He might get IR'd early on.)

I have a feeling not all of your OL will make it through.

Jeremiah Johnson may get a spot.

Obviously there will be a couple new additions, some surprises and possibly some injuries that will alter this list by the end of training camp but here is my shot at what we will look like going into game 1:

Offense: 2 QB, 4 RB, 1 FB, 4 TE, 5 WR, 8 OL

QB: Matt Schaub, Dan Orlovsky
RB: Steve Slaton, Ben Tate, Ryan Moats, Arian Foster
FB: Vonta Leach
TE: Owen Daniels, Joel Dreesen, James Casey, Garrett Graham
WR: Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones, David Anderson, Dorin Dickerson
OL: Duane Brown, Rashad Butler, Eric Winston, Antoine Caldwell, Wade Smith, Mike Brisiel, Chris Myers, Kasey Studdard

Defense: 9 DL, 6 LB, 6 CB, 4 S

DL: Mario Williams, Antonio Smith, Connor Barwin, Tim Bulman, Amobi Okoye, Shaun Cody, Earl Mitchell, Deljuan Robinson, Frank Okam
LB: DeMeco Ryans, Brian Cushing, Zach Diles, Xavier Adibi, Kevin Bentley, Darryl Sharpton
CB: Kareem Jackson, Glover Quin, Jacques Reeves, Antwan Molden, Brice McCain, Sherrick McManus
S: Bernard Pollard, Eugene Wilson, Dominique Barber, Troy Nolan

Special Teams (3)
K: Neil Rackers
P: Matt Turk
KR/PR: Trindon Holliday

PuP: Anthony Hill

Not including Hill on the PuP that is 52 players. One extra spot left over, perhaps Shelley Smith can make it, Glenn Martinez as a 6th WR could sneak in, Jessie Nading has a chance as another pass rusher. Chester Pitts is a potential wild card as he could make the team or possibly be another PuP candidate. If Orlovsky looks shaky again (I think he steps up his game a bit for the record) Booty or another vet QB might be a necessity.

I have to say, that looks really solid to me. Any critiques are welcome, obviously feel free to make your own from scratch. Off the top of my head we might need to find a veteran offensive tackle or a guy that can play both tackle and guard.

Looks good.. I think Andre Davis makes the team, along with Shelly Smith... and I think Dickerson is practice squad.

I hope they re-sign Pitts. Shelley and probably Ulatoski go on the practice squad.

My thinking was that Dickerson won't play any WR this year while he learns but will be a monster on special teams. I think Holliday spells the end of Andre Davis but I could be wrong.

I think the combination of Holliday and Dickerson spells the end for Andre Davis. He will not be on the roster come 2011 IMO.

You left off Alan Faneca.

I dont think Dickerson goes to the PS. He makes the roster, one way or another.

I like how you have it set up. That last spot probably goes to Shelley Smith. I think he is going to surprise some people.

That list looks pretty legit ... I wonder if Kubiak will feel 2 QB's are enough.

I'd also like to see them find a second swing tackle - at this point they only have Butler who can play both tackle spots. Thats not enough depth IMO. One injury and they have serious problems at the tackle spot.

I dont think Dickerson goes to the PS. He makes the roster, one way or another.

I think they both make the roster somehow - Dickerson's versatility and ST play will keep him on an NFL roster for a while.

I would cut Ryan Moats... and sneak in Trindon Holliday on the roster as a RB.

Slaton, Tate, Foster, Holliday

He has Holliday on the roster as KR/PR

Dreessen and Casey.

Or we go out and get another LS.

Steve Maneri TE, Temple
NFP Grade: 5.8

Scouting Report:
Steve Maneri: No. 86, TE/OL, 6-6, 275

A tall, long-armed tight end who carries his weight well and does a nice job of quickly getting into opposing linemen in the run game, Maneri displays good flexibility in his stance, keeps his base down into blocks and works his legs well through contact. He plays with impressive leverage for his size and has the lower body strength to drive defenders off the ball. He looks coordinated extending his arms into blocks and delivering a compact punch on the outside. He possesses natural coordination and body control when asked to reach a defender at the second level and does a nice job breaking down in space and quickly getting his feet around the target. He consistently is able to win his battles at the point of attack and overpower/seal defensive ends on contact.

Maneri is one of the better blocking tight ends in the country and can be absolutely dominant at times. Maneri is a big, coordinated tight end prospect who grades out high as a blocker and might even be a guy who could add 30 pounds to his frame and make his way to offensive tackle. But he'll find a spot on an NFL roster because of his ability to win in the run game.

Grade: 5.8

My guess for the long snaper. they'll have to hide him on the roster. the league is OLT poor. He want last long on the PS roster . always bring him on third and short and goal line and line him up at Tight end.

Damn. That's nice.

If this kid could be the primary LS, the second backup swing tackle, AND used as a TE in goal line situations... that would be excellent. No need to even put him on the PS.

That would be a dream come true .... that second swing tackle is a major area of concern for me - Outside of Butler they have nodda.
