Most UNDERRATED Texan ?

Sorry, I screwed up on the title of this one.........I put overrated twice when this one should be UNDER-RATED.

My bad, I'd totally delete it if I could, but, its not possible.

I actually think it is Peak. He makes big plays and we will need them this season. Hopefully I am right on this one.

Gaffney is the most underrated. He catches everything thrown his way. The only problem is that Carr has made his read: Look at AJ, dump to Davis.

OK, go ahead and blast away!! BUT, my choice is Billy Miller! you guys love to blast him to hell and back, BUT, considering the lack of quality playing time he gets, I don't think he gets a chance to prove his worth. JMO!!

I think both Gaffney and Faggins are underrated, Gaffney for the reason mentioned above, and Faggins because he hasn't had the same kind of attention as guys like Glenn, Robinson, and now, Buchanon.

1) Petey Faggins - Starting to gain a lil respect.
1a) Derrick Armstrong - With more PT he could develop into our 2 ... Thats IF JMathis is a season away from cracking the starter role. On the other foot, if JM comes in & starts just blowing DBs doors off DA & CBradford will be the odd men out. That is not to say they won't play, it only means their respective PT will suffer IMO. That'd be a good problem though.

David Carr- has all the physical gifts to be one of the best, has got a cannon for an arm and a head on his shoulders. Just no damn time in the pocket to check down from AJ to Gaff or the no.2.

Jason Babin- that first game when he dropped Tomlinson behind the line as the guy was about to turn the corner. If he can wrap up running backs like that this guy is gonna be an enforcer.

Dunta Robinson- I know... runner up for d-rookie of the year. Can anyone remember another corner with this much tenacity!?

That being said I guess our first round picks. :) Except for AJ they all seem to get subpar respect.

Gaffney catches everything? Since when?

No doubt...Gaffney is good, with more and more upside shown every year. But, Gaffney has to stop doing things like leaving the ball on the one, before I would lift the "underrated" label.

As far as recievers....Armstrong is way more underrated than Gaffney, soley cuz he's not starting and should be with his hands.

:)

Domanick Davis is underrated, he has been the workhorse for this team for the past two years. And after two consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons people still want to get rid of him. Even though he had more rushing touchdowns than Curtis Martin(12), Deuce McAllister(9), Ahman Green(7), Corey Dillon(12), Edgerrin James(9) and as many rushing TDs as Steven Jackson(4), Chris Brown(6) and Brian Westbrook(3) combined. All some people talk about is how he gets injuried and fumbled a few times.

Glenn Earl. I never really saw him make a mistake and he was allways around the ball. If he can improve on his coverage skills, he'll be a good SS.

Babin 1st with Wong a close 2nd. I notice a few of you guys are saying peek is gonna blow up this year, and I hope he does. The player who I think is under valued is Babin. All he did as a rookie is start every game, and he didn't do to bad. I think he will be the most consistant LB we will have with Peek having high's and lows. Wong in my opinon is U/V and will do well in the middle.

Babin led the team in QB hurries. With a year under his belt at the new position and continued growth in his strength and conditioning, some of those hurries should turn into sacks this season.

I agree with that. Just look at what Wong has been asked to do. Play both OLBs spots, & now switch inside. He's now responsible for calling the defensive signals. And I've never heard a single complaint from Wong, despite heading into a contract year. Wong is a team player & that's very undervalued & underrated in the NFL today.

Gaffney had 2 drops all of last year. 2. People seem to love to rip Gaffney but our offense was at it's best when Gaff got involved. And who lead the team in yards per catch??? Gaff did (15.4 yards per catch). Who had the Texans longest play from scrimmage last year??? Yep it was Gaffney (69 yard reception @ Chi).

In Texans losses, Gaff averaged 2 catches for 28 yards per game. In wins, his stats almost doubled to 4 catches for 54 yards per game and we were undefeated last year when Gaff caught a TD pass. :highfive:

And who on our roster who has the highest career QB rating??? It's Gaffney (99.2 QB Rating) :D :heh:

I actually beleive that there are two underrated players, first off on the D hands down it has to be Jason "The Beast" Babin and on the O its got to be Derrick "I am so open" Armstrong. I plan to keep my eye on both of these guys because I think that this season the are going to turn some heads.

Just a gut feeling but Armstrong looked like he had the potential to be a special player at times last year. Then I saw he averaged one catch a year the second half of the year. Kind of weak but he could come on like Drew Bennett or Houshmanzadeh did in their 3rd or 4th year. Great hands and a few years in the league creates the possibilty for a drastic increase in performance. Only a few guys come in and contribute a lot immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our #2 at all with Gaffney in the slot by year end, maybe opening day. He's definitely my greatest upside guy but AJ is my darkhorse most underrated. Yes he made the Pro Bowl but you don't hear him talked about as an elite WR. Just a prediction but after this year I think he'll be heralded as the one of the next great WR's to ever play in the league. And maybe we'll start hearing so much about T.O. That is getting ridiculously old.

I would agree with you just from a jag fan standpoint

aj is what make DD go.. I don't think DD is bad,but I don't think he is great.. he is a solid player

as for underrated player.. I'd have to go with offensively..Gaffney ..defensively...Demarcus

I've seen the cases for Peek, which is a good pick. "Petey " and Babin as well. But no Texan player is more under-rated than Seth Payne. NT is the cornerstone of the 3-4. And it has been no coincidence that as Payne went, so did the overall defense. The guy flat out causes major disruption to opposing offensive lines.

I gotta say it's a toss up between Gaffney and Armstrong on O and has to be Babin on D. Faggins has had some pretty good publicity by the pundits.

The most underrated for sure is Faggi  ns. But if he keep on doing what he does he won't be underrated for long. They will know the name Faggins

On offense, Derrick Armstrong followed closely by Moran Norris.

On defense, (if 100% healthy) Seth Payne, with a close 2nd to Faggins.

Gaffney easily the most undervalued Texan...our fans don't even seem to appreciate him. Pitts, Babin, & Stanley make my list too. Pitts is a punishing run blocker but most fans only look at sack totals and don't appreciate good run blocking. Babin is fierce against the run...but again, most fans only look at sack totals. Stanley is one of the best punters in the NFL.

Earlier I said that Faggins was our most underated player but the more I thought about it I realized that I never hear anybody other than Texans fans talk about Drob. :shocked maybe im wrong

I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned Morlon Greenwood, is this list to include only past years Texans players? Here is a guy who led his team in tackles (108) never misses a practice or a game, the Dolphins let the Texans sign him as a free agent with only a supplemental draft pick (maybe a 4th or 5th rounder in 06) as compensation. this move also allowed the Texans to let JS go and reshuffle the linebackers including starting Peek. Yet his name is very rarely mentioned, but in fact he may be the key addition and most underrated addition to the Texans :)

Zach Thomas led the dolphins with 145 tackles but he is one of the best in the league. Being second in tackles behind him is still impresive. I agree he is definitly one of our most underated players.

Offense Gaffney - here is a guy that if he had stayed in another year at Fla. would gone mid first round in 03 behind Rogers and Andre, ST - i have to go with JJ Moses, He never scored the big one but we never started with horrific field position when he was our return man either he never did anything to jeopardize posession. Defense - Glenn Earl did very well D Rob is not underrated if it wasnt for the NY media having so many votes he woulda been defensive rookie of the year. Peek has not played enough to value him.

I agree with you, as a rookie that wasn't expected to get a starting role through last year he really did a good job. And he should do much better next year

if TJ gets signed before training camp or within a day or two of training camp.. Charlie Casserly might be the most underrated "player
