Three-Way Trade

why in the world would the Lions do this?

They did not think Sims fit the system.

lions get Scheffler and a 7th from Eagles
denver gets #137

eagles get Sims

alright i can understand the Lions a bit now. but now Denver looks silly for only getting a 5th and giving up a pick as well. maybe there's something to be said about Scheffler i don't know about?

Do the Ford's still own the Lions? Whoever owns them has spent some major change on that team these last few years.

What a bad trade. Maybe they just wanna purge Sims. Denver doesn't like Schffler, guess Lions turn him into a possession WR/TE/H-back?

It's not a great deal for the Broncos, who wanted a third-round pick for their promising young tight end. Instead, they essentially dumped Scheffler to move up two rounds on the draft's third day.

The move also shows how down the Lions were on Sims' long-term prospects.

PFT's Mike Florio reports that the Broncos will get a fifth-round pick from the Eagles. Denver will send a seventh-round pick to the Lions.

alright cool, thanks for clearing it up. i'm still not sold on the trade for Denver. maybe they just don't have any real usage for a TE in McDaniels' system

Or maybe McDaniels is having trouble gaining the respect of his players and his only solution is to get rid of them.

Some speculation from me

maybe the lions did this so they can package scheffler to Washington to reunite with shabby in order to get Haynesworth reunited with Schwartz, bigal's former DC at tennessee

then you add Suh to play next to him or McCoy

lions would be well on their way even if they have to give up their 2nd for the package to get Haynes

Actually not bad. But instead of Suh, theyu aquired Corey Williams earlier and would be free to draft a LT

great point. They get their DT with the the 2nd and Scheffler
and they get their franchise OT in Okung to protect Stafford

that would be a nice 2 round harvest

IIRC, Denver benched Scheffler for conduct at the end of the year. I remember him and Marshall being talked about as players who were likely to be traded.
If your conduct is being mentioned in the same breath as Brandon Marshall, you have a problem.

lol the Lions are still the Lions though, they'd find a way to mess up this Madden-esque trade situation

How about they pick Dez Bryant with their 1st and trade their 2nd for Jared Gaither? Remember, this is the Lions we are talking about here...

Yes, but Millen is gone. The new regime I think will draft a lot better. They certrainly have so far.

Was going to say last year they had a real solid draft and so far in the off season they've certainly made moves to improve themselves. Unfortunately for them they're in a division that is going to be tough to leap frog in.

If Weatherspoon drops to us at 20 and with Detroit's weak LB corps, they could possibly try and make a move with us to get him. That said, Weatherspoon's been valued anywhere from 5th to KC to late 1st - 2nd, so it all depends on how teams value him.
