i'm gonna post this link coz mostly its pretty accurate. decent write ups on all the NFL teams.

unfortunatley, they seem to have completely overlooked Peek at OLB, stating that "the fourth sport" after babin/wong/greenwood "is up for grabs". maybe thats how the rest of the league views our situation at linebacker, and we just get caught up in Peek-mania??? but more likely just a mistake.

anyways, it'll pass another 10 minutes until training camp...

A 3rd year player with 35 lifetime tackles and 3 sacks isn't going to stand out to most of the National guys. Peek is our secret right now I guess.

With Peek starting and Wong at ILB, I think we WILL have a better pass rush than last year, but how much better I don't know. Obviously the left side of that O-line, not to mention the center position, is still questionable. Maybe experience will help.
 
Most of them for 2004 season had us 4th with 4-12 to 6-10, This season 3rd with 8-8 to 10-6 we are improving according to them BUT a long way to go
 
Do ya think the sports press has an off season too?

Besides a general dislike for any form of media under the "if it bleeds...it leads" formula, I do think a "press training camp" is in order to help curb old commentary or out of date information.
 
The Texans took another step last year in their patient building process, bringing along the three cornerstones of their offense in quarterback David Carr, running back Domanick Davis and wide receiver Andre Johnson.

Despite a late flurry of success, the season produced plenty of questions on defense, where inside linebackers Jay Foreman and Jamie Sharper struggled and became salary-cap cuts in the offseason.

While Houston took care of inferior competition last season, it couldn't compete with the AFC elite, going 0-7 against playoff teams. Changing that will be this season's step.

I disagree with DD being a "franchise" back.. DD is good but not franchise good
I also disagree with Gafney being inconsistant.. To me it was more of Carr going AJ then dump off.. He didn't have much time to go through progressions also Carr isn't that good of a reader of defense.
also wishful thinking of Peek and babin to provide pass rush? To me those guys should be improved ..Babin because of a year of experience and Peek's speed should be a difference
I'd say we go 9-7 not 7-9
 
I bought the SportingNews profootball 2005 preview and here is how the Texans are rated, they also had us getting into the 1st round of the playoffs and losing to the Patriots.

Coaching : B-
Quarterbacks : B
Running Backs : B
Recievers : B-
O Line : C-
D Line : C+
Linebackers : C-
Secondary : B+
Special Teams : B-

They also predicted that;
1. G-Funk will be pushed by TJ and have his best season yet.
2. Buchanon will get his career back on track thanks to changing teams.
3. Kendrick Starling will be on the active roster for the whole year.
4. Chester Pitts will win the LT job and Milford Brown will be the LG.
5. And finally, we will beat the Colts this year.

I sure like their prediction about the playoffs - hope they are right! But the
list of 5 predictions are very plausible while being interesting because they
aren't outragious or obvious.
And the way they rank our strengths and weaknesses, highest rank to Dbackfield and lowest to OL and LBs, I'd say that's right on the money. These
guys do good work !
 
all in all.. of all the "football sites/magazines".. ive found sportingnews magazine to give the best info/evaluations. They are still a little out there at times.. but i agree with alot of what they say.

I recommend them to anyone who would like to start a subscription for a sports mag.
