Slaton & Daniels with #20 pick to Raiders for Asomugha and Bush

Reports from the Houston Texans GM Rick Smith, The Texans have all but finalized a trade with the Oakland Raiders that send Steve Slaton, Pro Bowl Tightend Owen Daniels and the #20 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft for Nnami Asomugha, Michael Bush and Oakland's 4th round pick in the upcoming draft.
"We feel that if you are going to get something of value, you have to give up something of value" says GM Rick Smith. "We love Steve and Owen and both will be remembered as key players for the Houston Texans"

Slaton is coming off a disappointing sophomore year that resulted in missing the last five games due to nerve damage that was corrected this off season. Owen Daniels is coming back from season ending knee sugary. "I am shocked!" says Daniels, " I am totally in disbelief right now. I never saw this coming."

In trading for Asomugha, it fills the hole left by Daunta Robinson, who departed for the Atlanta Falcons as a unrestricted free agent, this offseason. Michael Bush will be used as the short yardage back as the Texans will look to the draft to fill other needs.

WOW! cannot believe this is going to happen....

Obviously a fake :) BUT

If this was real, would you go for it?

2 guys coming off serious injuries plus our first rounder for the #1 CB in football and a decent RB?

Just curious, how does quoting people work in April Fools? Can you really just fabricate quotes? Seems like...libel.

In related news, aliens from Mars have landed and are turning the seas into red sand. Beachfront property values dive.

Daniels is under contract for this year per not getting a CBA done. Had there been one, he would have been a UFA...

So no, not that hard....

Jesus people, lighten the hell up and pull the stick out, have a little fun...

No, he's not under contract. He hasn't signed his tender. He signed a temporary waiver in order to use the facilities.

lol. Dont let the jerks put you in a bad mood. I give you an A+ for making it look like a Chron report.

Sign-and-trade, brah!!

April fools is retarded but I'm about to go forge an email to my brother-in-law regarding a dear john letter from his long distance girlfriend cancelling their upcoming visit and her new man. Photoshops and all.

I don't like him all that much. Anything I can do to knock his self esteem down a notch... if only momentarily... maybe I do like April Fools after all.

*sinster cackling*

:bravo:
Got me! My heart fluttered and brain started contemplating the ramifications of this trade!

And then one more sip of coffee and then... its April 1st...

Slaton for Asomugha? you betcha! but losing OD????? dunno...

,

I admit I was duped.

I clicked, and as it loaded...I realized I had been duped.

Nicely done, jerkazoid. j/k

I was just going to sleep and saw this! Woke me up for sure. Now, I have to calm myself down and it is 1AM April 2nd here. Got me on this.

Good night to all

I'll bite.

I look at it this way:
1) Would you trade Steve Slaton for Michael Bush, straight up? It would be hard for me but it's a trade I would definitely consider. Bush has shown no ill effects from his leg break in college the sole reason he dropped in the draft. He is big back that can pound it in the endzone and we could find a 3rd down back somewhere in the draft. Might open up the possibility of us taking Dexter McCluster!

2) If the answer to #1 is yes then look at what's left. #20 overall pick plus Owen Daniels for Nnamdi Asomugha plus 4th round pick. This trade would allow us to not go CB early (basically replaces our 1st rounder that could have been used on Kyle Wilson). Daniels is hard to give up but we've got Dreessen who is underrated and Casey who should develop (last year was his first year able to devote his full attention to becoming a complete TE). This draft is VERY deep at TE if we wanted to draft another too. The 4th rounder is extremely valuable this year too because the draft is so deep in general.

Would I do this? The answer is YES depending on what Smith/Olsen think about Nnamdi's contract. Nnamdi is the best CB in the entire league, something we could use playing against Peyton. Gives us a secondary of Asomugha, Quin, Reeves, Wilson and Pollard.... with Demeco and Cushing in front of them.

On Offense we would have Michael Bush and Arian Foster as our lead backs. Draft a guy like Dexter in the 2nd or even Montario Hardesty in the 4th. Still need an OG like Mike Johnson for LG in the 3rd. Grab a DT like Linval Joseph or Jay Ross from E. Carolina with the other 4th. And maybe a Safety like Nate Allen in the 2nd if we don't take McCluster.

If you are going to try an April Fools day joke at least make it realistic.

OD, Slaton, and a 1st

for

Aso, Bush and a 4th

Worst trade since Cowboys, Vikings for Walker.

OD would be worth Aso+4th
Slaton would be worth Bush

Why give up a first??????????

????????

Really? A tight end coming off a knee injury is more valuable than the #1 CB in the NFL?

This doesn't even address that the Raiders have a decent TE in his own right in Zach Miller. Sure he's no OD but Daniels has had the benefit of Matt Schaub throwing to him and WR help vs. what the Raiders have.

In general, this would be a terrible terrible trade for the Raiders.

Wow, I think you need to take off those rose colored glasses :)

Aso is widely considered the best player at CB. A premium position.
OD isn't even considered the best at his position, and TE is not a premium.

I like OD, I really do, but to think he is so much better than Aso that they also have to give up a pick is a bit much. I think you are over-valueing him a little bit.

u know we could prob out some sort of deal with the radiers to get there #1 CB i wouldnt mind doing it

Funny. Bad trade though...

Slaton is at best a question mark. OD you can likely count on to return to what was a consistent performance. Round 1 is pretty valuable.

NA is the best and his contract shows it. Doubt Smith would take it on, although addressing the hole at CB in such a mega fashion would be killer and great exposure. Bush...if he was so badass...why isn't he so badass?

I would count the Texans as losers in this fictional trade.

SLaton is coming of Injury and fumblitis and is really no better then other 2nd year RB around the league

OD is also coming off injury and may be a start to a injury History problem and after a Skid we seemed to have no problem winning without him in our 4 game winning streak plus u could say hes a system guy and we could plug any TE into that slot and he will do good

all i know is NA would be sweet has a texan

Can we stop with the stupid april fools threads...please?

Soooooo lame.

The only people who should partake in April Fool's hijinks are those funny and clever enough to pull off worthwhile pranks. First rule of April Fool's: IT HAS TO BE BELIEVABLE.

April Fool's!!! Haha haha haha!!!

Stop it, office morons. Your internet links are not remotely funny.

Not getting Asomugha for less than a first...

and no a TE coming off of a ACL tear would not be enough...

MY BAD!!!!!

I was thinking that Asomugha was over 30 already, I was looking at the # of yeas he would have left playing at a high level!!!! So I digress.

However the Raiders still owe us after that trade for Buchannon.........
