Aaron Glenn in the chicken business

Where you can find Aaron Glenn when he is not wearing the Star.
He plans to open 80 chicken chain stores around the area.

Oh wow, I saw that Williams Chicken construction on Murphy Road last week and immediately got on the cell phone with guess who's coming to Houston. That is a very popular chain in Dallas and the only other franchise outside of Dallas that I was aware of until seeing the Murphy Road location was Prairie View. Good luck and best wishes to Aaron.

Steve McKinney has Velocity Sports, a chain of athletic training facilities. He has a few around Houston.
Morlon Greenwood is in the Rap business. :) ... ULTIMATE
Aaron Glenn also runs 3131 Properties, a land development company for shopping centers.
 
Allowing them to go to the Wharton school of Business for some training is really benefitting the other NFL players who need to figure out what they will do with LIFE after football.

I wish I had access to the capital they had to start some businesses.
 
I can't help but think that it's appropriate that Aaron Glenn's going into the chicken business. After all he had the chance to stay in Houston, outperform Buchanon, and make his money (and don't delude yourselves, Buchanon wasn't going to cost the Texans all that much money this year, they'd have paid Glenn in 2005 if he'd stuck around and won the job) but instead he asked for his release so he could go be a backup somewhere else for less. I'd say he's got the experience needed to be in the chicken business.

That's absurd. Glenn was not going to be guaranteed a roster spot. Even if the Texans decided to keep Glenn, he very likely would have been asked to restructure. I doubt he would've made any more here than he will in Dallas. And Dallas was giving him money up front. Glenn made a business decision and the Texans are probably grateful.
 
It was meant to be semi-humorous but really I don't think Glenn was going to get asked to restructure this season. I have no doubt that he would have been released after 2005 in favor of Buchanon but I think all he had to do was outplay him this year and he'd have taken home his money. The Texans aren't foolish when it comes to the cap but they're not cheap either.

I found it disappointing that Aaron Glenn didn't take Buchanon's arrival as a challenge. I think he left because he wasn't going to guaranteed a roster spot. He left because he was going to have to win it. That's a very revealing decision he made I think.

He gave 100% to the Texans when he was here.

He wanted to play for Bill again. I think I read where Bill called him and asked him to come to the Cowboys. Maybe that's all he needed to hear.

That's probably very true. Maybe Aaron would have been more inclined to stick around if he'd actually wanted to come here in the first place. I'm not saying he wasn't ok with getting picked in the expansion draft or anything like that. As you say he played hard for us while he was here. He didn't however choose to come here and play for the Houston Texans. He was left unprotected by the Jets and told to report to his new team. I imagine getting to play for Parcells again sounded pretty good to him after three years of losing on a team with very little pass rush that left the corners hanging in the breeze far too often.
 
He gave it all when he was here. He's a real pro's pro. He said he wanted to play for Bill again and Bill had called him to urge him to do just that. I really think that was what swayed him.

If Bill called him (a player currently under contract with another team) he committed a major NFL rules violation. Not saying it didn't happen, but he and Glenn should shut their traps about it rather than let it get reported.

If he was under contract how was he able to sign with the Cowboys without being traded? Wasn't he a free agent? Because I am pretty sure there was no trade involved between the Cowboys and Texans for Aaron.

I am pretty sure Aaron mentioned speaking to Bill on the phone during an interview he did on 610.

When the Buchanon deal was made, Aaron Glenn was under contract to the Texans and they stated they intended to keep him for the final year of his contract. After briefly toeing the party line in an interview or two, Glenn went to the Texans and asked to be released and the Texans relented. Glenn then went and signed with Dallas within days. If the conversation between Glenn and Bill took place after the release it is OK. If the call was what inspired Glenn to ask for his release then it was taboo.

I'm not sure when he spoke to Bill but I'll give him the benefit of doubt and say they both did nothing wrong. I'm sure the league would have done something if they had.

Do you have a quote for that? All I remember the Texans saying is that Aaron will compete with Buchanon at LCB. And that they spoke with Aaron and he was looking forward to the challenge. BTW, Glenn's contract would have run through the '07 season.

AS far as when Glenn 1st spoke with Parcells, who knows? But, Glenn did say the first person he talked to after the Capers meeting was the Tuna.

"If Aaron Glenn should, for whatever reason, fail to make the Cowboys team would you want him back? Do you think he'd be interested in coming back here or do you think he'd look around for the best deal ($$$) or best chance to play?"

No quotable source. It was something Casserly said after the Buchanon trade which was repeated again (if memory serves by both Casserly and Capers, all in radio interviews) after they released Glenn--essentially that they had intended to keep Glenn for this season and had planned on paying his full salary for this year (you are right he did have one more year).
