free agents that caught my eye #2

to start up this is an update of the free agents i would get
i say we let walter go and sign danials ryans pollard back

since slaton is hurt and out for the season i will start with runing back

1st

Darren Sproles, RB/KR/PR, Chargers. Age: 27
a lighting quick back that i can see in a houston uniform (slaton type back)\

2nd

Chester Taylor, RB, Vikings. Age: 30.
Chester Taylor has been one of the top reserve running backs in the NFL over the past few years only thing is i dont like his age

3rd

LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers. Age: 31.
LaDainian Tomlinson is done as a feature back. so i think we would need a rookie once agin age is a concern

now for the corners since we are not going to sign robinson back this is a major concern

corner #1

Leigh Bodden, CB, Patriots. Age: 28
one of the best corners in the game the patriots are guna miss him
'

#2

Tramon Williams (ERFA), CB, Packers. Age: 27
a stud corner

now wide reciver since i think we let go of kevin....

#! because i think marshial would not want to be a #2 wr

Vincent Jackson (RFA), WR, Chargers. Age: 27.
he's one of the top wideouts in the NFL. if you ask me

#2 Steve Breaston (RFA), WR/PR, Cardinals. Age: 27.
managed to generate 1,000 receiving yards in 2008.

#3Terrell Owens, WR, Bills. Age: 36.
i would get him even tho of his mouth once he gets a good qb he would be great agin

#4

Nate Burleson, WR, Seahawks. Age: 29.
Nate Burleson is coming off a very solid year

center since ours sucks!

#1 and only must sign i think we need

Kevin Mawae, C, Titans. Age: 39.
Even at 39, Kevin Mawae just keeps getting it done

a look at offencive tackle

#1 Jared Gaither (RFA), OT, Ravens. Age: 24.
i relly relly like this guy just penalties bother me

#2Mark Tauscher, OT, Packers. Age: 33.
Given up for dead after a nasty knee injury, Mark Tauscher sat at home eating Cheetos until the Packers called him up. He played brilliantly during the second half of the season.

safty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#1 Darren Sharper, FS, Saints. Age: 34.
Darren Sharper's age is a concern, but he still has one or two years left of top productivity. Sharper is one of the smartest defensive players in the NFL, and would be a huge upgrade for almost any secondary.

#2Ryan Clark, FS, Steelers. Age: 30.
Ryan Clark is a decent free safety who will probably be re-signed. If not, this position will be a huge need for the Steelers.

The Texans free agent activity will NOT please anyone if they think any of these guys is on their radar I can say that much...

Look to the draft people, not free agency

I'd be interested to either see how he did or hear what people think about him if we looked at the 0-6 Titans with Kevin Mawae. It's easy to say he did a great job but we forget their offense had issues until the got a backfield with VY and CJ.

I'm not saying KM isn't any good but I wanna look at those 0-6 games before I think to sign him.

The ER in ERFA is exclusive rights. Mark him off the list.

The NFl has exclusive rights FA? I just thought it was Restricted FA. In that case, you can sign them, if you give up a pick. If you could get a guy for a 3rd or so who is proven, why wouldn't you?

Exclusive-Rights Free Agents (ERFA)

An Exclusive-Rights Free Agent is an NFL player who is not under contract, but has only two years of NFL experience. If his former club makes him an offer at the three year veteran minimum salary, then that's it, he has to take it or leave the NFL. These guys have no right to negotiate with other teams. They are "free" only in the sense that they're free to quit.

Agreed. It wasn't just during the 0-6 but Mawae was pretty poor and isnt the player he once was. Now he may bring something from an intangibles point of year, but he's no better at C than what the Texans already have and he'll be a year older. The Titans had a decent run blocking line that opened up just enough of a hole for CJ to turn small gains into big ones. He may be an example of a back making his o-line look better than they were (they weren't bad but were probably better in 08 and certainly no Jets)

CJ's average went down not up after VY started playing. They just stopped passing and handed the ball to him for the rest of the season.

My choices:
1) Thomas Jones (RB-31yo): I think he still has some gas in the tank; much more so than LT or Westbrook and would be more of a complete back. I would pay him about $10M for two years.

2) Casey Wiegmann (C-36yo): recently released by the Broncos; very effective zone blocking center. I would pay him about $6M for 3 years.

3) Antrel Rolle (FS-27yo): best safety on the market. A playmaker, ballhawk safety. I would pay him $20M for 4 years.

4) Leigh Bodden (CB-28yo): best CB on the market. A little better than Dunta. I would pay him 25M for 4 years.

If we can get 2-3 of these guys it would take a lot of pressure off of our draft needs.

If some how we could put Rolle & Bodden into our backfield and still keep things in some sort of financial reality, it would likely make our defense a playoff level/capable defense. Pick up a quality RB in the draft a CB early and a line guy or two on each side and we would be in some pretty tall cotton IMO.

Well, if you take into account that you were paying Robinson + Pitts 16 million and they will no longer be on the team, it seems like you could probably get those two guys for 8 million a year apiece or maybe 8+6 and have 2 million left over for some scrubs.
