Tebow to switch his style..

IMO Tebow was not a NFL starting QB based on his mechanics. His leadership and intangibles are off the charts. So what does an NFL team do? Hope he can learn a new style or pass? Well Tebow is showing he can learn the new style and is willing to adjust to become a better player.

Senior Bowl week showed why he needed to change, and I applaud the kid, I like him because of things like this.

And NO I do not want the Texans to draft him.

Well he's already ahead of VY in the fact he's talking the talk. He realizes that there are holes in his delivery and he is prepared to make the necessary effort to change. i.e. He's killed his ego and is prepared to go to work. At the very least the agent has coached him up for "draft speak". I don't think you are going to out work this guy. So mentally he's there. Can he change ? Take an act of faith to draft the guy before the third round, . But his attitude is more than fifty per cent of the battle. Boom or bust type pick. But if he makes it and becomes an accurate passer, he'll be a beast on the edge of any defense. I think this guy loves being a rock star and will work and do anything it takes to make himself a great player.

VY ? He still believes there is nothing wrong.

VY knew he had deficiencies before the draft. That's why he hired Jerry Rhome to get him ready for the UT Pro Day.

Not to mention he's improved this past year. Teams have been taking the run away from him and making him beat them with his arm. And he's been winning with his arm.

Tebow's nowhere close to where VY was pre-draft. Eric Crouch V.2.

The question before the 2006 draft was "Will VY go in the top ten?" The question before the 2010 draft is "Will Tebow play QB in the NFL?"

I love that Tebow is willing to do what needs to be done, but I still don't think it is going to work out. I see a TE when I look at him, not a QB.

So do I and I question his timing of wanting to change his mechanics now. Why not do it earlier in his career rather than a couple months before the NFL draft?

Because it worked in college. College players do not spend the time we think they do on football, they have to many other things they have to do. And by rule college coaches can only spend so much time with them.

Now an agent is spending huge money to get an all star coaching team together to "fix' the super kid. This is normal with all QB coming out of college. NFL players are all superstar athletes, the differences in most of them is their heads, and work ethics. This kid gets it. And he has fun doing it. Watch him, he enjoys being the star, and he love the pressure that comes with it.

Also those mock draft experts like Scott Wright might want to reconsider sending Tebow to NE in the first round. Trying to be soooo smart. Now that pick just seems dumb.

Does anyone else feel that McNair wouldnt mind drafting Tebow in the 2nd? He could get the perfect little gentlemen on his team.

Is it me or I think this is going to hurt his draft stock because he always ran the shotgun in Florida instead of the 3 step drop...

No it's going to help it. Look no one was going to take this guy in the first two rounds any way with his foot , arm mechanics and center presences.

He says he's ready to rebuild his feet and throwing motion (already working on it) ..something Vincent would never concede BTW, to where he can hit a pass in the window the size of a legal envelope in between two defenders, something MS did many times last year and Tim can't do now. They'll spend draft capitol now on his attitude and his potentiality. He's prepared to go out and earn his big contract. Coaches and the bean counters love that. Plus the fact that he's already a rock star. the girls love him. He'll boost season ticket sales. You're not going to out work him. I think he has a true shot to be a NFL QB.

I like Tebow a lot. His attitude and heart. All he wants to do is win AND he's willing to work at it. Other players want to win but they want it to come to them. Tebow is willing to do WHATEVER it takes. I love that in a football player. There's no telling if he will make it as an NFL starting QB and I have no idea where I would select him if I was the decision maker... but he sure is a player I'd love to have on my team if I was a coach.

What I think is who ever his handlers are they did a very good job and earned their oats. He's mastered combine speak 101. I believe he truly means it. However, no McNair , Or smith or Kubiak have no interest in Tim Tebow. they have bigger fish to fry. Like keeping reliant full and holding on to their contacts. I don't expect them to go far a field on anything other than what is currently listed as our "Needs". Back up QB/Rock Star isn't one of them.

And yet after three QB coaches two co-coordinators nothing has changed . So, Can he walk the walk ? At his point I think what you have to say is Vince Young is what he is. He's always going to sling the ball. And he's always going to be a holy terror when he leaves the pocket. What I know for a fact is there are bold QB's and there Old QBs. But there are no old bold QB's. Eventually the fact that Vince Young couldn't change will catch up with him. The NFL folds them all. Even the best scrambling QBs. If they are able, they quit the scrambling. Vincent isn't able for the fact that his motion leaves him unable to throw an accurate "NFL" quality pass. It's that simple . There is only one way the Vince Yong Story ends. And it won't be pretty.

Me too, but it'll be a tough sell (to Tebow) for those lower TE $$$.

So far, it's just talk. I'm not certain he'd make whatever changes are necessary to be something OTHER than a QB. Like VY, I see him as a very talented athlete, but not necessarily the one who should be taking the snap.

I really hope Tebow blows away some team with his new mechanics and throwing style. It could mean that some team ahead of us could fall in love with him and draft him before 20. That would mean we get another good player to choose from. Even if he doesn't blow away some team picking ahead of us, there could be a team that may want to trade up for him and that could present an opportunity for us. Therefore, Tebow's stock rising means good things for the Texans.

I don't think it hurts him to much, since you have to know he isn't ready to run a pro style and is a few years away anyway. It may help a bit, cause he is working on it early. I would take him anytiome around the third ish if I had a QQB who was servicable for a year or two.

Can anyone tell me why Tebow was invited to the Draft in NY? Will a team actually use a pick on him in the 1st round? Am I missing something here?

I am just as baffled!

I kinda felt sorry for Quinn loning out in the Green Room for so long. Unless I'm missing something, this dude's going to have a full beard by the time he's picked.

Maybe they're inviting prospects for day 2 of the draft as well? I surely hope so....for Tebow's sake

I heard one commentator speculate he was invited to attend the 2nd day 2nd round. Now I don't know if they'll let him sit on camera the 1st day or not. Heck they don't invite more than about the top 10 guys I don't think. Nobody in their right mind could think he is a top 10 pick.

Going back to Tebow's throwing style, its still slow (in terms of his release). But, can you imagine if you put David Carr's cannon arm on Tebow!?!?! Tebow would probably be a 2nd or 3rd round pick then.

Your kidding, right? The only purpose of the draft being televised is advertising dollars. Qb or not, he draws viewers and companies will put up advertising dollars. I was watching the NFL station (don't remember the name) last night and even though I flipped channels, Tebow was mentioned like every 5 minutes either for his actual time on air or "we will be right back after this commercial and we will (again) show Tim Tebow". After 1 1/2 hours (I waited for Casserly's mock which turned out to be top 10 only), I'm thinking he ought to be getting royalties or something from NfL to keep his name in the fore. CC was not impressed with new mechanics that will go away when he is under game pressure. He had Tebow in 4th round.

sometimes I wonder about the mental baggage Casserly must suffer from because of his failure with 1st overall pick in 2002 :gun:

This Tebow stuff is great for the Texans. Can you imagine if all this hype ends up forcing the Jaguars to pick Tebow at #10 and pass on Earl Thomas? It would be incredible, and it could end up letting Thomas fall to the Texans at #20 :D

A man can dream...

Stranger things have happened.

You don't need great mechanics to play qb in the league & be successful. Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo & Brett Favre are all guys who you would not show tape of when you're trying to show a kid great throwing mechanics. You just need to be smart & accurate with the ball. The 1st i don't think will be a problem for him the 2nd however.......he's gonna have to work on that ALOT.

I like the kid but i didn't notice any major changes with his throwing motion when i saw the tape of their pro day. Having said, I think he'll get his wish which is to play qb in the NFL..he'll just be a 2nd, 3rd stringer who can play solidly for a few games here and there....nothing more.
