More like 7th and 8th chances. If the Bengals or any other team picks this POS up I will forever dislike them.
 
They also said something about the Bengals invinting Matt Jones in for a workout.

What's funny is how the Bengals can just continually go down this path. How could any fans out there feel sympathy for this team after they continue to bring in players like these guys? They've gone far past the Cowboys in that regard now. It sucks for guys like Carson Palmer though, I'll say that.

This team will go right back into an oblivion real soon. It's amazing to me that the fans continue to support this team with all of the stuff that Mike Brown does and the players he constantly brings in and how he screws his franchise over. The Bengals team looked really really bad at the end of the season as well. I think Benson will eventually get hurt again, and Palmer showed that he's not ever returning to becoming a top QB again. He had a decent season and all, but nothing spectacular.
 
Forgive me if I'm off here (I don't pay a lot of attention to Pacman) but if memory serves wasn't his last kick to the curb as much about his performance (or lack thereof) as his behavior? I seem to recall that he did next to nothing for his last team.

As for the Bengals bringing him in for a tryout I am not going to give them a hard time about it. If they look at Pacman Jones, Matt Jones, and Donte Stallworth and just one of them actually has finally got his head on straight and works out for them then I say they are just doing their due dilligence and turning over every stone to find players.

I don't have a problem with teams giving players second or third chances. I have a problem with teams that don't part ways with a turd when they can confirm he's a turd whether it's his first chance or his fourth.

Think of it like this. You choose to draft a guy who is less than a good citizen because of his ability. You're taking a chance and if you're wrong then you're the one who's going to pay. So you guess right and he does fine. Great, he changed his ways. If you guess wrong though you should be ready to cut the guy regardless of your investment.

Then he gets a big punch of reality in the face and goes looking for a second chance. I don't begrudge almost anyone a second chance. People change, people grow up. Nobody's perfect and most people I know have gotten something right on their second chance at it. So another team looks at him and says "He seems to have learned his lesson, give him another shot because he's still got mad talent and we can get him for a relative bargain". Excellent. If he learned his lesson then great. If he didn't though that team should be even quicker to send him packing. They risked less (hopefully) and should be less tied to him.

Third team comes along and this guy is a known problem but still, if they want to work him out, invite him to camp, sit down and talk to the guy and see where his head is I'm not going to mock them for it. Not unless they overpay or sign him and then accept him as a turd into their midst.
 
I would not want and nut job, a coke head, and a killer on my team. These guys had their shot and blew it. I've learned in life, always buying the bargain, ends up running you more in the end. Go Bengals...take them all. HBO will televise your training camp again, so we can watch the madness.:cow:

Yeah, that's one way to look at it. Bengals took a chance on Cedric Benson and found themselves a running back though. Nice return for little risk. That team you may have noticed played in the postseason. No, they didn't make a lot of hay in the postseason.

And it is this philosophy that led Jerry Jones to Tank and PacMan. High Risk, High Reward. But the contracts were nothing. He wasn't losing money and they had short, incentive deals that pretty much said, you screw up and you are gone. And besides alot of fluff in the media, this is what happened. Heck Tank didn't even screw up, he just sucked...PacMan too on sucking. I don't like these guys and the team performed better without them but the contracts were nothing to try it out.

This is the exact thing that got the Bengals back into the gutter after they started to finally become successful a few years back. Carson was playing great for a while and then the Bengals had one distraction after another with arrests and were having guys get suspended left and right. Chad Johnson began to get more and more out of hand and Marvin Lewis had pretty much lost that locker room after while and almost every other team in the NFL would have canned Marvin Lewis. I don't know if it's Marvin Lewis wanting to bring in all of these guys or if it's Mike Brown, but I think it's a lot more of Mike brown. Regardless though, it's been a complete irresponsible pattern to continually go after criminal players over there and guys with character issues. It's already resulted into termoil for them in the past and they finally crawl back out of the gutter this season and they immediately go right back to signing the worst possible players they can as far as conduct goes.

Sure Benson might have turned into a good player for them, but that's after several who embarrassed the organization and got suspended and were bad for the team over the last few years. When you're signing criminal players like crazy, sure one of them is going to find success at some point, but that doesn't mean that it's a good idea in general.

The Bengals should be staying away from players like this more than any other team to decrease that stigma that's been attached to them over this decade. Instead, they're doing the opposite and going out of their way to sign these players and targeting them. Stallworth, Matt Jones, and Pac Man all in one week???????? That's nuts.
 
The signing of Matt Jones worries me....it gives them another big threat. I think Jones is far from done, and could still be a top player in the league, if he can sort out his dumbassery.

The Cincinnati Bengals returned to their roots last week by signing wide receiver Matt Jones(notes) and working out cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones. The Jones boys, a pair of 2005 first-round NFL draft busts, are well-documented examples of recalcitrant youth rather than of NFL success.

Sadly, the word from two team sources is that neither of the Joneses figures to make it back to the NFL in the regular season based on their condition. Matt Jones, a 6-foot-6, 218-pounder who once ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, didn’t exactly impress the football people with the Bengals despite getting signed.

“It was one of the worst workouts I have ever seen,” one of the sources said. “I don’t care how fast his 40 time is or was, he’s a slow-twitch athlete.”

As for Pacman Jones, the word was even worse.


“He worked out, but he wasn’t really ready to work out, if you know what I’m saying,” said the first of the two Cincinnati sources. “If he really wants to get back in the league, I don’t know what he’s been doing to get ready for it.”


Beyond the workout, Pacman didn’t endear himself to management very much when he gave a bunch of excuses about his litany of arrests and run-ins with the law over his career.
